I for one have been very excited about this since Jim called and asked me to participate.

So basically I'm not going to sleep for 4 months w/ anticipation of this.

BTW- I already had plans to step up my L to the next level before this,So now its gonna be INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!

We should definately have this open to the public as I would think people would come from far away to witness, tape and cheer everybody on.

99.9% of the time the internet BULL***** is no where to be found at the race track.

I don't know much about nitrous and probably won't ever run it, so to me seeing a truck run 10's w/o spray is far more impressive!

Sounds like we could have enough interest to form a whole new series....lol
That's right

JIM:
Lets get the rules laid down and if we all agree then let it go down! This event will take place at the next *TRUCK FEST* We are trying to make this 1 time a year event bigger and better for us Lightning H/D owners..So what better way to make the 2005 Truck fest a HUGE Success! I thought this year 2004 was going to be the show down? but only sal and myself showed up..The 1 important factor here is going to be the fairness in the rules,My truck like yours will have a complete tubelar frame,Tubbed,4 link,ect...for next year.i know sal will be running a big turbo,i'll be running my same engine setup,So how do we make the playing field level?...maybe by then we can come to an agreement that we (ALL) agree on. and let the chips fall where they may..We need to promote the Truck Fest as much as we can After all, this event is for US! I'm interested and i'm open for suggestions..Also i would like to keep this on a professional level and leave the my tuner is better than your tuner *BULL* out of it! I say we promote this *special* event for next year at the truck fest and get the magazine coverage it well deserves! get everybody involved and pack the place out! We have to remember were all in this together,We have a tremendous love for our Trucks and the sport or else we wouldn't be doing the things were doing, like taken these awsome vehicles to the level in which (we) did! Yes i said WE Its not just you or me or him its ALL of us Together! We have gotten the attention of the WORLD! So lets do this thing right and be fair for the sake of the sport and the thousands of fans out there..... JL

Hey Tuner guys...

If you video tape/DVD this and put it on your websites for CHEAP you will sell a TON of copies..

How about you make a "movie" Each video the build up (leaving secrets secret, not giving away trade screts), each submit a copy to company who makes a video and you ALL sell it on your website.

I'd buy one tomorrow!

Hey, if I got invited I would be right there with you. But going with my above question, I don't feel a 4-linked tube chassis with a Lightning body on it is a Lightning anymore, so what is the point>??? -Mat-

The only problem with LFEST is that its not exactly the best time of the year or the best track to run the best E.Ts.
Everybody had there best runs at Cecil and that is what got everybody excited.
Racing in the middle of Sept. in Kansas is not the best for E.T.s

I would prefer to keep it late feb early march on a closed track day.

That way we can run when we want and still have fun.

For me this is all about the E.T.s

I'm all for a tuner shootout between the big three. I hope it works out. The hard part is setting a time and place that works for everyone, and then making sure all our trucks are ready for battle at that time. It's not so easy to do that when you are constantly pushing the envelope and breaking stuff. I haven't had the time to get my truck 100% in almost 2 years. Just been busy devoting all my time to customer needs and work. I know Jim is in the same boat. Thankfully my truck is closer to completion now and should be up and running soon as long as no new disasters come up.

As for the actual shootout, here's my thoughts...

The Lightning world is not as evolved as the Mustang world, in the respect that there are not tons of vehicles setup similar enough to have dedicated heads up racing of different class requirements. When it comes to heads up racing for bragging rights, it's a run what ya brung deal, since we've all taken different paths to low ETs.

Now since this IS a shootout, and the point of it is to compare ETs to find out who's the fastest, we have to have SOME kind of common ground to make the field even to all participants. In my opinion, the easiest way to do that, is to have all trucks weigh the same. That means each one of us gets on the scale, truck and driver. We see which truck is the heaviest, and add ballast to the other two to match it. Then we have one constant, to level the group. With all three trucks at equal wieght, the race now comes down to the vehicles power. How that power is achieved is still run what you brung, because with wieght being the same, we will see the true "fastest" truck.

I would also like to say that while I think LFest would be a perfect place for the shootout, I may not have my truck that far into the future. I have no intention on turning my Lightning into a useless, race only vehicle. I have other project vehicles to unleash on the Ford racing world, and will most likely sell the Lightning in the springtime. Of course, that's not to say the new owner can't participate .

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

This could also be said about a centrifugal supercharger. How about twin turbo's???? Why exclude the Kenne Bell???

My point is, these trucks are reaching the limit real quick with the stock suspensions. I believe that major suspension, drive train and frame changes are the next logical place to gain speed below the 10.xx level.

It's coming.....you may want to get use to it....
