Superfords ready to lay it down!!
That's cool JL, I appreciate you posting the numbers. My statement was not made to upset anyone, it was just a factual statement. JDM posts STD numbers, and you posted Charlies in STD. I post mine in SAE. So for those people who want to look at the numbers I posted for Chris and compare them to the numbers they've seen you and Jim post, I wrote what I wrote.
As for the signature, I'll have it edited. I didn't make it, so I'll need to get the guy who did make it change it. It's not a big deal. I'm not obsessd with being the fastest truck anymore. I've been the fastest truck every year for a while now and all it does is cost you lots of money. Nowadays I'm concentrating on my shop and customers, which is why my truck hasn't moved since Nov.
And BTW, Dales sig does still say "worlds quickest gen 2 Lightning", it's just been edited to say "soon to be 9s"

allright, here's my unbiased take.
everyone's right, a dyno is a tool, ETs are results, albiet with a lot more factors to add into the equation.
as tim said, regardless of accuracy, Dynojet is the accepted measuring tool, and SAE is the accepted correction factor.
people use standard correction because it looks better.
not naming any names, but back when I got my photo editing software and was learning how to use it, I made a sig for a certain member. I used his SAE numbers in the sig. he contacted me and asked me to change edit the sig to show his Standard numbers.
why? because they look better. deceptive? maybe a little but in that case, who really cares?
it becomes more of an issue like in this case, when a vendor uses the "happy numbers". because any time a tuner posts numbers it is indeed advertising.
everyone who sees the numbers will remember the peak number, but not necessarily which correction factor was used. so again, using std is just a cheap way of making things look a little better.
I think everybody knows what is going on here. lets all TRY to be adult.
think of it this way, using Johnny's own posted SAE numbers as an example:
703HP 851FT/LB
now would it be fair for me to say that I'm making MORE TORQUE than Johnny because my STD numbers are:
687HP 856FT/LB?
no obviously not, because it's not an apples to apples comparison.
the difference is that I say that I've got more torque than JLPs truck, then I'm just running my yap, but if I'm a vendor saying that, which is what johnny was doing intentionally or not, then it could be construed as false advertising.
just my .02
EITHER WAY I'VE GOT CHARLIE BEAT!
seriously though guys, i'm no moderator, but since my screen name is in the title of this thread, could we PLEASE go easy on the personal stuff.
later,
chris
P.S. No disrespect intended to Charlie, I know I've got a snowball's chance in hell of beating his truck at the track (especially now that my motor is kaput), I was just joking above. as everyone stated, there's alot more to an ET than just dyno numbers.

Hate to change the subject here, but I wish you guys put as much effort into returning emails as you do posting against each other... I emailed both of you, and only got one response back... Thanks, JL.
You both are great tuners, doing great things with our trucks, and we're all benefiting from it. Kiss and make up?
I think this is the most I've seen you two post on here at once...

in all seriousness, is any body besides me impressed that before it went south, my little old home built motor and eaton S/C
was making SIMILAR power to the quickest Lightning in the world?
I'm gonna change my sig...
or something...
