Sarah Brady bunch would love to

quote this thread! There are a number of you posting here that are way too immature or irresponsible to be carrying! As someone else said "the gun should be the last resort"! Most states that have CCW require you to retreat from the situation, if possible. Your home is usually the only exception, hence the "no bill" against guy who shot neighbor who broke window trying to get in. Do you realize that showing a gun is a crime called brandishing--can get you into jail and lose your permit or right to even own guns. If licensed to carry you have a responbility to keep your head, not react emotionally since you have the ability to respond with deadly force. You bad a-- gunstore commandos better get a clue! Open carry is a very bad idea. Easy for the bad guys to jump you from behind or when just passing on street. The idea is for the bad guys to not know who might be armed. Do any of you remember the rash of carjacks just outisde the Miami, Florida on obvious tourists in rental cars? This was just after Florida passed their CCW with about 250,000 issued at that time. They knew the tourists weren't carrying, but any car with a regular Florida tag might! Of course the media never brought up this theory. Develop "situational awareness" and "be careful out there"!

Damn! It took 6 pages for an intelligent post. I think open carry is still better than banning handguns altogether though.

I've been taught never to pull a gun unless I intend to use it. No one has ever seen me with one out in the open yet. In fact, I've carried an asswhipping or two, in a lopsided fight or two, with a weapon only a few feet away. Unless my life is threatened, or my family's well-being, I'm not going to shoot, or threaten to shoot, anyone. Not even to save myself from getting my *** kicked. I can generally avoid fighting, one way or another, anyway. If I can't avoid the fight, and I can't win, they better be ready to go again the next time they see me, if they were in the wrong or think they can talk crap. If I was wrong, I can take my medicine. Once people know this about you, trouble doesn't seem to find you as much as it once did.

non-concealed carrying is a good idea. it would solve more crimes than compared to no carrying at all. The reason of having safety courses to pass and meeting requirments is what is usppose to weed out commando wannabies and unsafe peoples.

Many studies have been done on the subject. Overall non-concealed+ concealed carrying laws that are easier for safe citizens to obtain will equate in lower crime rates and less deaths over time. I don't think anyone could honestly argue that fact.

PS: who the hell hijacked this thread!

Someone charges you with two fists and you pull the trigger and kill. Manslaughter = prison time. Be careful brothers.

I-menace, if your going to be a lawyer you need a gun. Loose a case and some nut or his friends come after you for more than a fight. Good luck on the BAR.
I have an Paid internship set up as a prosecutor for next summer.

Remember: the force MUST be proportional!

MUST
no if ands or buts about it!.

Even using a gun in a knife fight isn't acceptable.

"menace" you undoubtedly need more

education on the subject! A gun is absolutely acceptable to defend yourself against a knife--unless the knife wielder is more than 7 yards away! The idea is "imminent threat without means to retreat". Many studies have been done showing the speed of employing a knife at various distances. You'd be surprised how fast that ground can be covered! "They have decided to act (which you don't know), then move. You have the react to their move, decide your actions, then act!"

I am not about to debate this, regardless it was off topic and I appologize.

By the way:
My name is not
1-menace, nor i-menace, nor I-Menace.
It is "L" Menace as in LIGHTNING MENACE!
The "L" is a smaller case letter.
