This is why i carry my glock 27 everywhere I go.You never know what some crazy A-hole is going to do.I would have lowered my window..Thats where the whole ''fearing'' youre life deal comes into play.Im sure it would have been the last time he ever did that!

Just curious...

Those of you that carry....

How many times have you drawn your gun in similiar situations where you previously stated you would do so?

How many of you have actually made sure that "it was the last time someone would do" whatever it was that they did that threatened you?

Just curious what the ratio of carry vs use/exhibition of weapon is.

This is a serious question(s).

I am wondering if carrying is more of a psychological reassurance to those carrying rather than someone else knowing that one is carrying...

Im all for owning a gun, its a basic American right of self protection. It does bother me somewhat that a portion of the gun owners arent exactly qualified to shoot a gun in public if needed. You have to remember that a bullet travels quite far if you miss a shot at someone... who knows what it could hit.

And if you plan on ever pointing it at someone for protection, please hold it tightly and be ready for them to possibly make a grab for it.... I wouldnt even pull one out unless you have about 5 feet of distance from them, or your behind a window or something.

My father carried a gun under his seat all the time growing up...he was a cop when I was kid, even after he quit his job he still keeps that 9mm Browning under there. He tought me respect for fire arms at a young age....they can definitly save your life when used by an itelligent person.

I personally dont own a gun yet, I keep a 15" solid chrome rod in the door of my truck.... dont plan on using it unless forced...but I like that its there.... I would have a problem running from someone who messed with my girl....or my truck... but thats just me.

Unforunately, due to state law I cannot carry.

I'm sure it can go either way, or a combination of both.

Some people feel tough with one, others feel safe, some feel scared knowing that they may have to use it. And I'm sure there are many feelings that go with it.

As for the other side, if you don't know who is carrying will you think twice about harming them???

Who is a mugger going to pick, someone who they know can defend themselves or someone defenseless? Not knowing who is carrying a gun itself is a form of crime control.

concealed carry is a great thing that everyone who isn't a felon, alcoholic, etc and pass safety courses should be allowed to have.

If some ******* jumps up on your car and doens't elave you alone, simply flashing a concealed gun to them will 90% chance make them shut up and go away. those 10% are really mental and leaving would alway s be the best bet.

I for one like the idea of non-concealed carry. You can see who is wearing one and *******s are less likely to start in the first place seeing one. carrying on the hip can get annoying sometimes tho.

I have pulled my gun twice in the last 10 years and only once did I actually point it at someone.

1st time I was traveling down a small curvy two lane road and came upon some old piece of crap doing about 25mph in a 45. Being that it was a very curvy road there weren't many places to pass so I wait for a safe spot to go around him. After about a mile the jerk slams on his brakes and stops right in the middle of the road and opens his door and gets out and starts yelling and pointing his finger at me. He then reached behind his seat and grabbed a tire tool and started walking towards my truck so I pulled my gun out of the console, rolled down the window and layed the barrel on the window jam. As soon as he got to the front fender of my truck, he saw the gun and immediately jumped back and ran to his car and drove off. To this day I still don't know what the hell his problem was but I do know that it scared the s#it out of me. I was a nervous wreck all the way home. Even though I carry a gun, I absolutely hate to draw down on another human being but I will protect myself and my family.

2nd time I was at a gas station in a bad part of town. (I know I shouldn't have been there but I was about out of gas so I had to stop) I was pumping my gas when 2 black guys pulled up to a pump two bays over and one of them walks toward my truck asking to borrow $5. The other guy was just sitting in the car with it running. I politely told him that I don't carry cash. He kept walking towards me and said "well I'll take whatever change you got". I always leave my door open when I'm getting gas so I reached into the truck and grabbed my gun and put it in my front pocket with the handle sticking out and turned back around to finish pumping my gas. As soon as the guy saw it he said "my bad" and walked back to the car and they left. I don't know if they were actually needing money or if they had planned on jacking my truck but I felt better about the situation having a gun.

I don't see how people against civilized adults carrying firearms to protect ourselves and divert situations all together, can have any case what so ever in taking away our rights.

damn democrats

I absolutely support the second amendment for the right to own a firearm. Furthermore I do agree that felons and others like mental handicapped should not be allowed to own guns for theirs and others safety.

With that said I agree with Uniod about non-concealed carry. I have nothing against concealed carry but would think that having it in the open could prevent some or most problems.

I also agree with Konig and think anyone who is going to carry a weapon should have to complete some kind of safety course and qualify in some type of shooting range.

If I was carrying I would be in the category of not thinking I was some kind of bad *** but a little nervous that I might have to actually use it. As I mentioned in my other post, if my daughter and I was in a situation and I felt that her life was in danger and the only way out was to shoot the moron I would do it. I would be nervous after about the fact, but still felt like I did the right thing.

If I had the choice of just running over someone, or just hitting them with the truck then that would be first, the least amount to get out of the situation but there may be a time that the least amount is actually shooting someone and it would be that other someone at fault for putting themselves in the situation of being shoot to begin with.

It would have to be an extreme situation and I would have to “really” and “sincerely” feel my or my daughters life was in danger before I could ever pull a trigger. However if the situation presented itself, then oh well for the dirtbag…

I carry, and have for awhile. I don't need 100/150 frat buddies covering my big mouth.

Never pulled never had to, but have made up my mind that I could do so if the situation warranted it. I'm 6'4" and weigh 235 lbs. I can hold my own. You just never know if the guy that you figure you can take in a fair fight is carrying a knife or a gun. I just like having the option.

I am 6'3". 265 lbs. I have had more broken bones than birthdays. I am 27. I have never pulled a gun on someone, and have never had one pulled on me. I try to control my rage, but asshats who act like punk children should be dealt with in the old way. Spare not the rod as to spoil the child. Spare not the *** whippin as to let the asshats walk with their butts on their shoulders.

some of you people scare me.

First in Michigan they HAVE to give you a CCW, unless the Gov't can prove why you don't get one. (misdemeanoer, felony etc..)

Second, Even Pepper Spray is considered assualt with a weapon.

I've had people chase me many times. (sometimes me being a knucklehead, sometimes Not) Usuallly down the expressway, so if I am in the L, I'll just play with them and lose them. (not alot of traffic in Michigan)
If I'm in the Grand Cherokee, I'll drive in the Median on the expressway.

If it is on a backroad, they are going to get a ROCK SHOWER from the Jeep! I don't like people following me and if they folow me to a point where I'm on dirt roads, they are pretty pissed, so I'll not allow them to pass me first thing. Second go toward familiar roads and take them FAR out into the boonies!
If that doens't work. 4wd works everytime!

But luckily I've clamed down a little since then.
Now I carry pepper spray, when people see it, they know what it does. (NEvER USED IT, Never had to)

It seems society has evolved in many ways through out time. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. All of the gun carriers, not anyone who carries one due to occupation, could you state your ages. I'm 38, and just wondering because when I was younger no one ever had a gun unless they were going hunting. If you got into a fight, win or loose, both parties went home bruised and battered, but still alive. It seems that the gun carrying is more of a youthful trend now days. Which is why more older people are carrying, to protect themselves from the young punks also carrying. Just be careful, life in prison isn't worth it. Then there are no guns and fighting daily for your life is normal.

Just my 2 cents.
