I don't carry one yet, but when I pass the bar I will be carrying one. I'll be 31 when that happens.

I should clarify Michigan used to have 2 types of CCW permits.
1- carry anywhere
2- Very restricted

Now that the burden is on the gov't to prove why you don't get one, basically anyone can get one.
We now have the VERY VERY restricted CCW license.

With that said I agree with Uniod about non-concealed carry.
I love the idea of non-concealed carry. It would cause a lot of would be criminals to at least think twice before they try anything.
damn democrats
You need to vote for the non-idiotic democrats Howard Dean was governor of Vermont, a state that does not take kindly to restrictive gun laws.
I have pulled my gun twice in the last 10 years and only once did I actually point it at someone.
Wow I am glad I never ran into a situation like either of those.

I agree that it is all ages of people who do stupid and illegal things. I guess it's more of the big city mentality. I lived in Phoenix for years and the crime was bad. You had to stay aware of things around you at all times. I live in the suburbs now and my gun is for home protection only. I never even heard of or saw someone carry a gun, other than law enforcement, in my area until 1995. I'm exmilitary, small arms expert shot, who beleives in the right to bear arms. Same rules still apply. Someone charges you with two fists and you pull the trigger and kill. Manslaughter = prison time. Be careful brothers.

I-menace, if your going to be a lawyer you need a gun. Loose a case and some nut or his friends come after you for more than a fight. Good luck on the BAR.

You know, if all boys were taught simple rules of firearm safety when they were young. you wouldn't have near so many problmes as we have nowdays. My opinion is, that the Parents of the children should be the ones to decide whether or not their kid (I'm referring to 18 or older here) should be allowed to carry a gun around or not. It's a right, and so the goverment has NO say in the matter. But anyhow, since they decided to overthrow the constitution and put restrictions, it's best we have CCW permits than nothing.)

Guns rule. Punks drool.

well said.

When anyone turns 18 they should be allowed to have a chance at a CCW or non-conealed carry liscence. Given they pass the agreed upon reqs. also why keep adults 18-20 from buying alcohol? they cna be forced ot shoot and kill others in war for our country yet can't buy some beer? our gov needs a lot to work on. unfortunatly we'll need to wait for it to get better.

All I have to say is just because you carry to defend yourself from the idiots out there and may in fact one day need to use your pistola to do so does not mean you have to shoot to kill. I personally would have responded to the situation by brandishing and getting the A$$hole to submit. hand with gun one with cell with police on the other end. Guess what? A$$hole goes to jail and learns a valuable lesson. If he resists, pop pop wheelchair for life!

The fact is we all make choices in life and one thing always remains constant, you will ultimately live with your decision for the remainder of your life so choose carefully.

We just all need to revert back to the old days when everyone carried a pistol in a holster on their hip in plain sight. It would deter thieves and pickpockets as well as bullies and thugs. I have no tolerance for either of the latter two.

kobiashi,

When I was 13 a drunk mean 6'2" friend of my moms broke into our home at night threatened to kill my mom and us if we called the police while he went on a rampage. I ran to my moms bedroom got the lil 25cal and pointed it at him. He came back with "go ahead, shoot me" as he was walking toward us with a large piece of wood from our door that he broke in half. When he saw me pulling the trigger (gun was on safety) he turned away very quickly and left. I would have shot him had the gun been off safety.
FYI: My SIG-SAUER P239 doesn't have a safety and has never failed to fire at the range. Very good gun for C\C.

As an adult, no. I find it kind of cumbersum to carry.
I dont feel meaner or like some cowboy at all. I just know that if someone wants my money I can say "NO", show my weapon and hopefully that will be it. I would still try to get my self out of a dangerouse situation before using my weapon.

Like the situation our fellow L owner was in. I more than likely would have done the same thing even If I had my gun on me. He had the option to "get out" and the idiot had no weapon in site, so his "life" wasn't in danger. I can't risk going to jail just to shut some idiot up.

If I had to use my gun I would have no problem pulling the trigger to protect me or my family. I could and would drop anyone who threatened our lives.

If you actually sit down and watch some of the kids today you will realize they some of them don't know exactly what 'respect' and 'pride' is. Hence the carrying or jumpings of X people vs 1. But that is another topic.

I am part of the younger crowd, and I take no offense in that statement. But also you could re-word that statement to replace youthful/young punks and older people with criminals and law abiding citizens and it would make more sense. As such:

It seems that the gun carrying is more of a criminal trend now days. Which is why more law abiding citizens are carrying, to protect themselves from the criminals also carrying illegally.
