Dollar for dollar is a pointless argument. If we were all in it for the best bang for the buck ,we would all be driving either late 60's Camaros ,5.0 Stangs ,and hatchback Civics.

 

Since when were we comparing it to a Fox body or any other car? Lets stay on the subject. And when did my comment become an arguement? It is my opinion.

 

Your saying dollar for dollar ,sayhing "with that much money I can get the XXXX car and put XXXX amount in it and it will be much faster". Let it be your opinion ,so in your opinion a Ferrari Modena or a Viper is a waste of money? Because you know ,accoriding to your opinion ,you can get a Lightning and put the rest of the money into it and be much faster.

 

kmartford, something that is a waste of money to me may be pocket change to someone else. In that case, my opinion is worthless to them. But for me, a lightning is the best bang for the buck (when comparing it to a Z06). And yes, I do think the Modena is a wast of money.

I'm sure you will have a reply to this. After looking at your other posts on this thread, it seems like you argue with just about everything. I'm sorry my opinion offended you.

 

It might be a better bang for the buck ,when it comes to STRAIGHT LINE performance. But in handling, braking ,and especially top-end the Z06 takes it hands down. And remember ,it only takes $1500-$2000 to make a Z06 go 10's. Intake/exhaust/nitrous/tires.

 

i have to give the zo6 one thing. atleast the motor it comes with can handle a good spray.

The 2003 ZO6 is a world class sports car, designed to go fast and stay on the road - it's direct competion is the Dodge Viper -

No offense - but I am positive Mother GM doesn't even consider the Cobra or Lightning as any threat at ALL when R&D'ing the new model year of this car - not even a blip on the radar screen.

The Cobra and Lightning are designed with fast Street performance in mind and short quarter mile bursts at the track.

The ZO6 is designed to go fast for long periods of time and great distances and stay on the track. The Cobra and Lightning can not and would not sustain that punishment, the drivetrains would fail. The Suspension in this car is World renowned it can take a turn at plus 70mph and still hold the road - The Cobra and L would be flopping around the road like a wounded duck.

The Corvette is an American Icon - it's been running for 50 years with no end in sight. It's in a completly different class than the Ford products and there really is no comparison. Those that are trying to draw a comparison are just showing how completely ignorant they are. The Ford products cater to a different consumer and for a different purpose. Lets just leave it at that.

And remember to read every post on this thread. I just posted a video of a 2002 ZO6 with a 75 shot, drag radials, Borla exhaust, and one of those carbon fiber intakes. What was his time a 12.8 something? His best that day was a 12.11. He has spent more than $1500-2000 and still isn't in the 11's...

2. Why can't you compare the two vehicles? The corvette has a higher top speed and better handling.

That statement is not true and the video backs that up and CYAFORD who is the owner of that ZO6 came over and even posted on this thread.

Let's all make a list and put it in our dash so next time we get our a$$ handed to us by a respectably quicker and *better* performance vehicle than ours, we can argue:

1) How much the L can tow and haul around.
2) How it is cool to beat someone in a truck.
3) How it is a great bang for the buck vehicle straight-line performance-wise.

And if they happen to be driving a Z06 or Viper that simply overwhelms our vehicles performance-wise, we can also mention:

1) Handling: Ruslow
2) 1/4: JLP, JDM, and Sal.
3) Auto Xing: Spike, thepawn, etc.

Fool proof I tell ya!
