Whew. Can't believe I read the whole thread

I'll just say I like both, own both, but comparing the two is an exercise in futility.

 

Wow, cant believe this didnt get locked yet. I own neither one, but have driven and been in both. They are both cool, but you CANNOT compare the 2. As said above the Z06 is a real sports car regardless of what the price is. The Lightning is an awesome truck, and thats what it is, a truck. Sure you can make either one go faster with some mods. Also, saying the Lightning is $20k cheaper and with that $20k you can make it blow away a Z06 is just a stupid way of thinking. Like someone else said, if thats the way you think, then get an older 5.0 Mustang and do every bolt on under the sun and thensome and you will have an extremely fast car for very cheap money, well way cheaper than the cost of a new L or Z06. Unfortunately, when you take your vehicle to the drag strip and run it against other vehicles-- you are comparing apples and oranges. That's what the drag strip is for. So those who say you can't compare the two are trying to use the 1/4 time as the measure of a vehicle. It's not....get over it! If an apple beats your orange, it means the apple was faster that night...not that it's a better vehicle. Don't confuse the issue by dragging in top speed, slalom speed, towing capacity, etc.... That's not what was measured at the drag strip. Dyno numbers don't matter, Magazine writeups don't matter, and your opinion doesn't matter. Whoever get's to the other end quickest wins this event.

If you don't want your apple compared to oranges and banana's... dont take it to a competitive event. The same applies to the bananas that insist on taking their much larger vehicles autocrossing, and sometimes get spanked by grapes. It doesn't mean the grape is better...it means that it won at autocrossing.

The same principle applies to 'bang for the buck'...if your expensive and rare kumquat gets beaten by someones common and cheap banana that's been peeled and super slick, does that mean the banana is better? Of course not...it's just guicker!

So does that mean that I beat Easterisland? We lined up twice and I reached the finish line first on both runs. A few hours later his best time of the day beat mine by half a second. So how would one figure that one out? Here is another look at the timeslip from our second run:


As you can see, my 60' time was still a crappy 2.1. I was laughing at the track when people were telling me that everyone there was gonna say that ALL Z06s spraying runs 12s. I'm still slower than 2 stock Z06s that I know of. The hard truth is that I'm a ****ty driver. Even with the BFGs, I spun in the first 3 gears. I'll try doing a burnout next time.

They've just been compared for several pages and we've all seen them compared before. There are people who actually choose between the two.

You don't want to compare them? Shut up and go to a different thread. Don't go around telling others not to compare 2 vehicles. Last time I checked this is still a free country.
