wow
i started reading this and had deja vu. What threw me off was the dates, i saw february and kept reading. Missed the whole year part.
These were the days.
Vendor bashing. Tuner vs Tuner. Pm's stating how tuners were going to seek out posters at the track and cause physical harm to them.
YES!!!
Half the people from back then don't even have their trucks anymore.

I forgot how nasty things were back then.
OEM update:
Mercedes AMG have dropped Lysholm blowers in favor of direct injection and turbos due to reliability.
Mercury Marine who had been using Whipples for years are now dropping them altogether. They had multiple engines with Whipples and now have just one which is expected to be dropped. An engineer told me: "You don't win races when you can't finish".
To my knowledge, no one currently uses twin screws in the OEM. Or if any are left, they will soon be discontinued and are only on older models.
Roots is now back with a vengeance with the new 4 lobe TVS blower with "near turbo efficiency and lower temps" and much lower cost compared to twin screws. Roush, Steeda, GM and Ford are now fully commited to it in the new ZR1, Cadillac CTS-V and future SVT vehicles. Roush and/or FRPP already have kits for the GT-500 and F-150s. All comments that I have seen have been very positive.
How about a kit for the Lightning GEn2 antiques?

How y'a doing Pit?
I'm willing to bet that the 2009 Gt-500 will have it right from the factory with a stock rating between 600 and 625hp. Hopefully with the new high tech "twin block" intercooler found in the ZR-1. (saw the ZR-1 again yesterday---Love that car---I'm out of room in the garage)
Add to that the Gt-500 Tremec TH-6060 or sequential 6 speed (if you don't mind the racket) and things can get pretty ugly...

"First of all, Mr. Mennella's statement "Ask a bunch of people who've owned KB blowers in the past, and you'll get 9 out of 10 of them telling you about lackluster performance, failure problems and horrid KB customer service." That's B.S. There's no truth to this. Kenne Bell has been in business since 1968. That's 34 years. We could not have possibly survived if that statement were true."
While it's natural for any company to defend their business, that statement is almost laughable. KBs "poor service" is quite well known in the automotive world. I remember "anit-KB" websites a few years back. There are even people here on this board that have voiced their unhappieness with KB service on past vehicles. I myself have been dealing with Lightnings for many years, and have worked on and tuned many customer trucks (gen 1s) with KB blowers on them, and have seen those customers have to deal with poor service. And as for being in business for 34 years must mean you have great service, well, I know of many companies that have been in business for many years and have not treated their customers well, so that's not really a valid statement.
As for my being incorrect about the details of KB and Whipple, I stated in that post that I was not 100% sure of them, which is why I didn't go into detail. However, much of what you wrote about the whole KB/Whipple/Autorotor/Lyshom situation does not coinside with what I was told by Whipple, so at this point that doesn't make it true, that just makes it KBs story vs Whipples story. I can get Whipples version of the story if need be.
"There's one last point I'd like to make. I don't think it's fair to bash Eaton, Whipple or Kenne Bell on product failures."
Well, here you are doing it, so I guess that means you are no better than the people you are upset with for doing it first.
You have to understand something Jim, all along I have been sharing the Works 140 test data with the people here on this board. I have never said don't buy the KB, I don't think I even ever mentioned the 4 locked up units, I have only shared my thoughts on why I felt the 140 was better, and usually with some kind of dyno sheets, boost data, etc to back my statements up. I have been sharing this information so that people could make their own choice for a blower. But everytime I do so, you get the KB people posting pictures of timeslips, little smiley faces, and making remarks like "KBs rule, KBs are better, KBs will blow away the Works, KBs make more power than the Works" etc etc, with absolutely zero to back that up. It's like dealing with 5th graders. I have been saying all along, that both the KB and Works 140 should be more blower than anyone should ever need, so just compare the info on both and choose the one you like. You seem to feel that I have it "in" for KB. This is not true. I honestly could care less. I am confident that the Works 140 will perform just as well, and I feel even better than the new KB. I'm not worried about losing 140 sales to the KB, there are plenty of people out there to buy both. It's the KB supporters that constantly talk about how great the KB is compared to the Works without even knowing anything about the Works.

Sal, I have a 02 LIGHTNIG with a whipple and an 04 cobra with a KB
I have never had a single problem with my whipple on my lightning. My cobra on the other hand is a nightmare I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER KB PRODUCT EVER. There customer service is JUNK. When I had questions about a whipple before purchasing it I called whipple and spoke with are whipple for 30 min and I got the feeling that blowers are whipples passion and for KB its just a 9-5 job. Sal never the less I would like to pull off my KB that only has arround 5K on it and let you inspect it. It rattles leaks oil and tuning is something that I cant get accomplished PS my tuner who I will not drag in to this BUT I will say that he wrote the programs for the ford dept. of his company. Sal I live about 80 miles from PSP and would like to see if you have any 03/04 whipple kits in stock and Id like to throw my KB in the dumpster were as a customer I feel thats were there products belong and were the customer service is located. This is spoken from some one who does not post a lot but does have a truck that is not to far off the beatin path of JL. I am not trying to start fights but just state my experience from both of the products.
