anyone know if 3" FX-R projectors fit in the 2000 headlight housings? I'm about to make the jump. Looking for the best light down the road to see with. Will the 2.5 lens work as good?

There will be no difference in output of a 2.5" over a 3.0". I would personally go with a 3.0" to help "fill out" the reflector bowl. I have 2.5" but my next set will be a 3.0"

I just installed some Osram CBI's, What a difference with only 30 minutes burn in time. I'm looking at other projectors now also. The other projector that I kinda know is the LS that's it. I'll keep the old ballasts though cause I don't mind waiting the extra 10 seconds for warm up.

The LS460 is the ultimate BiX projector IMO. Its a beast to fit, but after driving behind a pair of LS460s, I can say with confidence that it is king. Width, uniformity etc, there is no comparison. However, it is huge and a PITA to retrofit. I've been looking at OEMs that are decently sized and top performers. So far I like both the RX350 and Murano, each with spacing and shield mods. Both are top tier BiX performers but somewhat easier to install than the monster 460s.

I am going to get a new car soon, a Focus ST. Going to attempt the Muranos in the tiny housings...if I like them, I will redo the F150 as well. FXR 1.0s are outdated and my high beam shields are having issues activating which is killing me now during hunting season when I need the distance lighting.

Oh, and both the Focus and F150 will be getting the CBI treatment...jealous about that! Let us know how you like them after ~20 hours of use...thats apparently when they hit the color sweetspot.

I will for sure. I like the 5000K color better anyways, I can see better in that spectrum.

I want to get a new FX-R 3" stage IVs in my truck, but for a 15 year old V6 with 300,000 miles, I would be doubling the value of the truck

Ha Ha, I'm watching my truck drop in price as well. Right now I'm looking at selling and upgrading, or driving mine into the ground.

I went for another drive tonight with my CBI's. I connot believe how much of a differnce they are. I'll try to get some pictures this weekend.

Thanks Alex for sending me here LOL. I had asked him over on HID Planet about retrofit advice for my 2001 Lightning. No, no, no... I will not cut up my pretty OEM shells. Anyway, I'm drooling looking at some of your work, and am going to try and school myself by reading as much as possible.

The thing that scares me the most is cutting the hole for the projector and making sure its positioned right. Then there's the aiming and rotation issue. So I won't make it in 2012 obviously, but hoping that I'll be a "member" in 2013.

Mike

Thanks for info! Will, I did not get them for Xmas from wife. So here after the new year I will get to do my truck lights. I did get a 12v power supply and a new Dremel tool set. Also clear head lights still on the way. So soon, I hope to start my Retro fit.

My headlights are here. I'm getting excited now. I think I will go with the 50 watt 5000K in the FX-R Stage 3 in 2.5 lens and with the Apollo V2.0 shroud. I will also go with the Amber XB LED angel eye in the shrouds. What do you think? I hope to get the TRS kit soon! Name: IMG-20130104-00589_zps6592297d.jpg
