I'm just glad so many people find my how to useful.
Your retrofit turned out good BTW!
Hello all! new to the forum but i have a retro as well. I got the truck a month ago and it was the first thing i did lol. I used lightning housings and Mini H1 4.1 projectors. GG shrouds and Morimoto XB35 5000k bulbs powered by 3five ballasts and MotoControl 9007 harness.
I used the GG shrouds because they came with the projectors but i will be switching out for some e46-r shrouds to fill up some of the void. I might paint the inside of the corners and headlights.
Here's some pics!

I see units from LS460's and Mercedes E55's, Various BMWs... are these useable? Also curious if anyone has done a Halo-ring on an F150/Lightning and tied it into the parking/running lights or fogs?
Mike
OldTimer,
Thank you!
As far as why i went with this combo, i already had it from a retro i was going to do last year but never did. This setup was really easy to do. took me maybe 3 hours and that was taking pictures and a few breaks here and there.
As to what fits in here, well, thats all up to your imagination, lol. This setup involved ZERO cutting or modification to the housing. Once you venture into the other projectors, extensive cutting and trial and error test fits and what not are required.
A Bixenon (low/high beam) projector is the ONLY way to go with this truck considering the fact that we only have one bulb for both low/high beam. Using a basic projector would only give you low beams forcing you to have some sort of secondary lighting for high beams.
Ebay could be a good choice, but there's never a guarantee as to what youre getting, or the condition. LS460's are nice but theyre only a low beam projector, at least in the US. They can be adapted to become bixenon but thats money! Other projectors could work but as i said above, it will be a lot of trial and error as far as fitting them inside your housing. One other thing, pay attention as to whether the projector youre looking at is a rear mounted bulb or side mounted. Side mounted would be very difficult to install in these trucks.
Some have done the Halo ring on the shrouds on the F150. Tying them into the parking lights is typically how i see them wired up. Either that, or they are run on a separate switch so they can be turned on independently of everything else.
I would check out Theretrofitsource . com for all information regarding numerous projectors, bulbs, shrouds, etc. If you were to purchase anything in regards to projectors, i would highly recommend it be from them.
Another place to check is HIDplanet . com. They are a massive forum dedicated to the retrofitting community. Just about anything and everything you could think of to look for, ask, etc is on that site. there are build threads, tips, output shots, opinions, and on and on. i hope this helps. if you need anything else or have any other questions, feel free to ask away.
Thank you!
