I've heard of people using that hospital tape over a VERY small hole.

When a sealed chamber is heated, the inner pressure will likely be higher than ambient. If there is a small leak (no matter how small), air will gradually leak out. As the heat source is turned off, there is a deficit in air for that temperature, so it will try to draw air in due to the slight relative vacuum. When the areas near these tiny leaks gather moisture (e.g. condensation on the outside surface, pool of water, drip, etc.), the leaks will suck some of it in. Having a dedicated "leak" points (e.g. those vents with dust filters and upside down U shaped snorkels) prevents these moisture to be sucked in during that equilibration process.

Yes. What you need is a one-way vinyl vent. On aftermarket heads, they are little black stickers on the back of the housing.

Have never heard the XR1 in person so really couldn't tell you. if you haven't check out my exhaust vid. i have a videos on youTube of my Raptor and my old FX4 with the 5.0l both with the S-type mufflers give them a listen with some head phones or good speakers and that will give you a good idea of what it sounds like. just remember the video's don't do the deep low end rumble justice. IMO i think the Borlas have a nicer rumble that the magnapack plus they keep a nice tone all the way thought the rpm range unlike what i've noticed with the magnapack that get a little raspy.
