I have the carpet pulled back far enough to see the screw you are talking about but no plug attached. Maybe because I special ordered while overseas??

I would imagine that all 2004 and up FX4'S have this preinstalled, just incase you want to upgrade at purchase. It is easier for the dealer to add without having to rewire the radio.
I can't say for sure about the Supercab FX4's, but I know that not all of the Supercrew FX4's have the wiring harness installed for the audiophile sub. Discussions with my local dealer and Ford parts department confirmed this. However, you can pick up the components and make your own harness for about $50 as discussed earlier in this thread.

Unhappy

Has any body used the wire harness Part # 71-5520-1 from www.installer.com
I understand it connects to the Radio, but does it also connect to the subwoofer?
To install the wire harness do you have to remove the seats & carpet?
Doesn’t anybody have a digital camera to post pictures of how to do it?
I have an F150 XLT Super crew; just purchase the Radio/CD 6 system with subwoofer, the harness was suppose to be included but the EBay seller didn't send it.
I try buying the bolts/Nuts from the dealer and they told me to buy them at a hardware store. I want my bolts to look stock, so will try a junk yard.

Is the sub unit for the Super cab the same as for the Super Crew or are they two different boxes??

Okay, I found out about he sub size so I'm good. Where/how did you wire the Pin 5 & 6 into the fuse box??? Did you solder or did you just use a fuse tap??? The last thing I want to do is screw up the fuse box.

I just wish my cable was already there. I looked but could not find it.

I found a cable behind the dash, but it's not the correct one. I thought it was the DVD prep harness, but it doesn't plug into that port either. It's an eight pin, 5 wires, and is in a cap connected to the cigarett lighter panel. Anyone have an idea as to what this is???

Confusing adapters/plugs

I've seen the pictures of the rear Audiophile. There is definetely three plug-ins:

The smallest one is an 8-pin. This fits with a wiring description of

Dark/green/Violet- sub amp enable
Black/orange - ground
Violet/light blue - voltage supplies at all times (overload protected)
Brown/orange - subwoofer signal +
Red/Black - subwoofer signal -
Black - shield

It appears that 6 of the 8 pins are actually being used. This seems to work for the subwoofer.

Now - the second plug (middle or middle sized) appears to be a 16 pin. The problem is that a description of the rear DVD wiring harnes uses 19 wires. I don't think this plugs into the rear dvd.

The large plug-in is the 'factory harness' that has a total of 24 slots for potential connections. Installers.com sells the 70-5520 which is used to add an aftermarket HU to the wiring harness.
I haven't found a wiring schematic for this harness, but I'm sure it's for 4 speakers, power, ground, etc.

I think the center plug must be used for steering controls and rear dvd sound/input controls of some sort. If we could find a wiring diagram for the middle plug and factory harness it would be helpful. Also, we need to find where the rear dvd 26pin plug-in is and what leaves from that and goes to the stereo.

I'm trying to add an Eclipse HU and these answers would help installation process...

I'll do some more searching, but any help would be much
appreciated!!

Edit Add on:

I have found the following information for the wiring harness:

Radio Harness Wires

Radio 12v lt. green/purple +
Radio Ground black and black/lt. green -
Radio Ignition pink/black or lt. green/yellow+
Radio Illumination lt. blue/red (dimmer) +
Factory Amp Turn-on dk. green/purple + **
Power Antenna N/A
LF Speaker orange/lt. grn +
LF Speaker lt. blue/wht -
RF Speaker white/lt. grn +
RF Speaker dk. green/org -
LR Speaker gray/lt. blue +
LR Speaker an/yellow -
RR Speaker orange/red +
RR Speaker brown/pink -
SPEED SENSOR WIRE GRAY/BLACK
STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS: PINS 18 (ORANGE), 19 (VIOLET), 20 (BLACK)

**FORD, F SERIES LIGHT DUTY, 2005, Factory Amp Turn-on. This is the subwoofer amplifier turn on lead. The subwoofer and amp are in the driver side rear corner of the cabin. The subwoofer speaker wires are brown/orange (+), and red/black (-) at the radio harness.

(Does anybody know if the above color descriptions for the sub are on the small plug-in or the larger factory harnes???)

************************************

I believe these all go to the factory harness but I'm not 100% sure. I know I am missing the mute wire and color.

Still nothing on the middle plug.

Tun2One,

The wiring diagrams are posted here: https://www.f150online.com/galleries...w.cfm?num=7765

These diagrams include the wire colors and (more importantly) the pin numbers.

Hope this helps,

FordNoobie

Thanks FordNoobie. I tried to print them but they are not readable. I just purchased the wiring diagrams from some ad I saw. Hopefully that will work...

Been following this topic for a while, since I plan on doing the sub/HU install also. I found a source that may work for the sheilded signal wire:

Shielded, Twisted Pair

Think this would do the job if the shield was connected from PIN 4 (HU) to PIN 1 (Sub)?

BTW - FordNoobie - Could you email the native pic of that wiring diagram to ejd124@yahoo.com?

Thanks,

Eric

Lightbulb

For those who have already made the wire harness;
Why don't you guys make the wire harness and sell them on E-BAY or the Classifies on this page. It seems like to much for the average person who is not electronically inclined. You can make a bunch of us happy while making money. Wining situation for all

I'd have no problem making up harnesses for anyone that needs one, as soon as I verify that my idea will work! (May be a while as I don't even own the truck yet... )

C'Mon GM buyback...

ericd - check your email

SATX04F150CB - I thought about making up several harnesses and selling them on ebay, but I wasn't for sure what the demand would be. Also, my time is pretty limited right now. What would you guys be willing to pay for a pre-made harness?
