Sub

Thanks Fordnoobie.

I am looking for an audiophile system on e-bay now.
This one says Audiophile, but it does not look like it has a sub out plug. Or am I looking at it wrong? I have seen some with three plugs in the back.

Does this one have the sub-out plug?

Thanks!!!

That is not the audiophile radio. You are right in the fact that you need to have one with three plugs in the back. The smallest plug is for the sub.

Thanks Who.

If anyone knows of any good deals on an audiophile head unit let me know.

I have an 04 F150 SuperCrew with an Audiophile sub that I can't hook up. ....yet.

nuther one

Are you sure about the 3 plugs? Here is another on ebay with 2 plugs claiming it's Audiophile with the features.

I am pretty sure that you need one with three plugs. The big plug is for the factory harness, the medium plug is for the either the dvd or steering wheel controls and the small plug is for the sub. I know that in previous ford vehicles, the smallest plug would be for the sub. For example, I have a friend who has a 98 explorer with premium sound who has a small plug for the factory sub. It is too bad I did not see this post earlier becuase I sold my audiophile head unit on ebay for $170 plus shipping. It was out of a 2004 without the ability to play mp3s but it was an audiophile unit. I think some people are confused that if they have a lariat that they automatically have the audiophile saystem. It is not standard on any trim according to my brochure, though many laraits probably have that option installed. If you are bidding on one on ebay, just e-mail the guy and ask if they have the sub under their seat. I am guessing that the ones that you are looking at that claim to have the audiophile radio do not have the sub. No sub, no audiophile. I have not seen a audiophile system that does not have 3 plugs in the back.

Thanks Who. I think the sales people may be over using the word "permium". It;s all premium to them.

Does anyone know the Ford OEM part nomenclaturefor the stereos?
I want to bid on one on Ebay and know by the part# what I am getting, but there are so many different part #s, for similar stereos. Most importantly I would like to know what denotes that it is Audiophile in the part #...if anything.
eg. this is from radiosanmdore.com it looks liek the Audiophile part #s all end in N.

The large plug is the OEM Radio Plug, the medium size one is the Overhead DVD Plug ,and the small one is the OEM Subwoofer Plug.

Thanks Trent,
Does anyone know if there is an adapter harness made for the DVD connection, so that you could use it for an iPod, etc.?

Thanks for posting your message, you saved me $185.00 that a local audio shop was going to charge me to install.

I pulled back the carpet and sure enough the wiring harness was there.

I need help mounting the sub under the back seat. I can not figure out where it goes. It bumps up against the bracket for the short seat. How did you install?

Audiophile Subwoofer

Magnet1969,
If you go to the online user photo galleries on this site and do a search for Audiophile, you will see several pics of how the subs should hook up.

Angry HELP

Hello,
I purchased a used audiophile system for my FX4 Extra cab, due to being told the connectors were already there on all FX4 / Lariet trucks. I have removed the radio and the back drivers side seat and pulled back the carpet with no sign of a connector anywhere. Can anyone verify if these trucks were prewired for these even if it wasn't ordered with it. I really dont want to spend anymore money on this system and am sure I can return it.

Thanks MLM150, I'll take a look hopefully it will help.

KLW67, I found my connector about three inches into the pre cut hole in the carpet located in the back of the cab. You really have to dig for it.

It will be screwed into the floor with a plastic screw, I pulled the carper out from the back and the harness came loose.

The front end that connects to the radio is taped to the main connector that plugs into the radio. You may not recognize it because it looks like it is plugged into to something, but is it simply a plastic female cover.

I would imagine that all 2004 and up FX4'S have this preinstalled, just incase you want to upgrade at purchase. It is easier for the dealer to add without having to rewire the radio.

Good luck, hope you find it.
