Use shielded ONLY, you will get a lot of interruption with no shield. Yes i have the sub with amp available ($250). Wiring harness ?$ don't know never sold one, i guess about 100$ ( to buy all parts about $35 and $50 for labour + I pay for shipping). Audiophile 6cd/mp3 with sub out radio $200, have 2008 with chrome. I got my subwoofer two days ago, and WOW what a difference

Thanks guys for the great info.

Richy9612, do you still have the factory sub available?
Might be interested in the cable, did you use twisted shielded cables like someone suggested?
Let me know how much you want for the sub and wiring harness. (not sure if I need the harness yet, but now I know where to look. 8)

Tweeters?

I have an Audiophile and sub now, just need to check to see if the cable is there. (crosses fingers)

What about the (tweeters?) in the side doors.
Is there a cable in the door for them?

If you don't have them will you lose all your highs?

Old thread brought back to life!!!!!

After all of this discussion about the harness for the audiophile head unit and the sub from the factory. Is there one single harness that I can buy from Ford to hook these up? This thread dates back to 2005 but I figured Ford / Audiophile would have come up with a single harness for this by now. I am bidding on a Audiophile head unit right now but may not buy it if I have to get some kind of harnesses that have to be spliced together to make them work....

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thumbs up rear plug.

I've got a question for you all. I've read alot of the posta nd I need some info.

I have a 08 FX4 Screw I've installed the cd-6 with the three plugs, the truck has all three plugs in the stock harness. I've pulled up the driverside entrance covers, and I've felt into the slit in the carpet, I've even pulled the carpet forward to the slit and cannot find the other end of the sup plug. From the wire loom behind the radio where does it go? The wiring in the channel under the doors goes up to the seat belt tensioner, then into the back of the cab (I guess it goes across to the other side). The kick panel dosen't have any empty plugs to install a sup pluf into.... what does the truck from the factory with the system installed have that mine dosen't? I may be able to get the wire harness from the guy I bought my stuff from, but where is it routed, I'm sure he dosen't want to rip jis new truck apart to give me the harness..... the radio end of the harness HAS to go to something somewhere. help is appreciated. thanks. Also If someone could call me that has the info I need, I'm out for the weekend, but I'd love to hear what you have to say.. just call 757 735-3770

extra plugs

The extra plugs you found on the back of the a/c panel are for the folding mirror button, or for the TCS button (traction control system)

sub wiring

I tracked down the factory sub wiring, it goes to the driver side kick panel and goes into the white plug (with a bolt in the center)and then stops.(for those without the sub plug in the back of the cab.) the female side of the plug can be pinned and wired for the sub, with out having to run the wires from the HU back. just finish the wiring like the factory did. you will still need to run a power (factory is a 15 amp fuse from the battery) and a ground (screw spot already there under the carpet). Going to do mine from there and see what happens.

Look at the main wire loom behind the driver kick panel, you will see what looks like a thick black wire (4 wires wrapped alone) this comes from the back of the HU. The wires go into the upper left of the white plug as it's mounted in the truck. the female side unlocks with a flathead after two tabs are released, plug pushes back and then gets worked out.(hood latch needs to be moved aside to get to this area)

Anyone that has taken out their 6 cd changer want to cut the aux input from their wiring harness that put in an aftermarket deck?

I want to hook up a 3.5mm jack so that I can plug up my zune without having to purchase the 100 dollar interface?

I am going to go and take mine out now to see if the plug is already there but I would assume they would not have multiple wiring harness for the same year trucks to cut costs?

It is an 08 Supercab if you could help out, basic radio sucks and I want MY music rocking at 5am on the way to work!

Guys i am fixing too add the sub to my factory nav in my 08 screw. Here is the diagram i have from the ford manual. I have the plug behind the hu butt it ends at the driver kick panel. I know i can run my own power and extend the wires for the signal and shield. But here are my concerns. Another poster said the fuse is a 15amp but according to the manual and diagram it is a 25amp. Also the diagram shows the shield ending right before it reaches the amp and not connecting to it at all. Plus the above connections dont match with the diagram. For instance pin 1 on the sub is not shield it is sub enable. Any help clarifying this would help i dont want to fry my nav system Thanks Matt

Found both plugs and still nothing

Old thread but great info. Question is I found the plug under the rear seat and a plug behind the radio plugged into a dummy spot. I plugged the new found plug behind the radio in the small receptacle (I do have three so I know I have the audiophile HU (ebay)) it had four pins in it and fit the receptacle perfectly and then I plugged the new plug I found under rear seat into the subwoofer I bought on ebay that looks new. All this and nothing. The subwoofer still will not come on. Anybody have any ideas?

Just wanted to let you all know of my recent experience. I was just going to run all the wires and buy the plug for the sub from Ford and be done with it. I ended up deciding that if I could find the whole harness it would make my life much easier. After searching quite a few of the junkyards and "u pull it" yards I was having a very tough time finding a truck from within the last 10 years. I ended up taking a chance and found a 2000 Ford Explorer at a pick and pull and it had the subwoofer and wiring still in it. I then looked at the wiring diagram that I had and the pictures of the plug and found it to be the exact match for my truck, which is an 08. I have just installed my Shaker 500 head unit, subwoofer, and installed the wiring harness from the Explorer and it works perfect! I really lucked out on this and I wanted to let you all know this in case this may be something that you would like to look into yourselves. The best thing is that not only did I get a complete harness that works great, it only cost me the $2 to get in! Now, if I could only get the illumination to work correctly......
