Gun Controll
Gun Controll
After watching CNN today and hearing some of the things they had on about the "sniper guy" and some congress people wanting to band "assault" rifles and showing campaign ads about this, I wondered what everyones opinon on the matter is.

Everytime some @$$hole does something like this they try to make it harder for the folks who would obay all the saftey issues with guns and such I personly don't own a gun but if I ever decide I want to buy one I want to beable to buy one with no hassles but because of the @$$holes like this snipper they make it harder all the time for someone like you or me to buy a gun and have to go through a check and all that I'm against them kind of checks as it makes me feel like I'm being treated like a common crimanal.
its just like Leiberman saying that all flight simulator games should be pulled off the shelves because they aid in the training of terrorists who want to crash planes into buildings. and Gore saying that all violent games that children play turn them into "cold blooded murderers". lets not jump to conclusions on things. yes i know that these people were shot with probably either an AR-15 (.223 winchester) or some other hunting rifle. maybe we should ban hunting rifles too. heck lets ban white box trucks...they seem to be the transport of choice for these people... it just extremely pisses me off when these bleeding heart liberals want to pull some stupid stunt like this... can anyone else think of something to ban in this case???
Just a few questions for you:
1) Didn't they pass a ban on "assault rifles" several years back that was supposed to make all of the disgruntled post office worker/McDonald's/random shootings go away?
2) How effective is enforcement of gun laws already on the books? For that matter - are they even being enforced?
3) Isn't it already illegal to shoot people?
4) If they passes a law tomorrow mandating registration of all privately owned firearms do you think that those prone to comitting this type of act would comply with the law?
I could go on, but you get my point. I am guessing that you can probably tell what side of the issue I am on also!

they passed a ban on automatic weapons. you can still own an assault rifle...it just cant have the "rock and roll" feature.

They can pass all the laws they wish. They can ban every gun until they feel warm and fuzzy. Problem with that is the same people who commit all the crimes with guns will still have them.
You have to enforce the laws of which there are so many most law enforments offices, lawyers, and judges don't even know all of them.
It makes NO sence at all to put more laws in the books or to ban any guns what so ever because it has NO effect. It's like the speed limit. It might be 60mph, but if everyone is always going 100mph and no one enforces it, then its just a useless expensive sign on the side of the road.

Has anyone ever considered that immediate access to such a deadly weapon actually SAVES lives...Or rather I posit the question, "will truly evil individuals throw their hands in the air if guns weren't available?" I'm thankful such a device like this is around, as it's irresistable for the assailant to draw on for use. Individuals such as this one doing the shooting tend to be a tad bit smarter than the average street thug, sometimes very intelligent.
Can you imagine what nutcase genuises would do if guns disappeared? They sure as hell wouldn't stop being evil. Instead, you'd find that 3,000 people suddenly are strickened with arsenic poisoning, or a truck bomb goes off in front of a kindergarten while 100 little students are out front for the Pledge, or that anthrax is home-grown and dispersed at a NFL game, or etc...etc......
If one guy wants to run around shooting randomly a couple times, good, we'll find him and probably blow his brains out in the process of capture. At least this guy is spending all his time driving around, shooting at one person, and then driving away to hide for awhile, rather than sitting at home trying to build an atomic bomb....We've got enough people in the Middle East trying to do that...

today i read an article in the paper about some kids out playing army in the nieghborhood(remember that guys) they had these toy guns that are supposed to look and actually work just like the real thing...with sliding ejectors and firing small plastic bullets...one kid had a gun that was the exact replica of a ppk223...a cop cruising the nieghborhood(upscale i might add) saw the kid with the gun and chased him for about two blocks and jumped out of his car and drew down on this kid(10 years old )..well thank god the kid pissed in his pants and the cop kept his cool...these are supposed to be the'hot toy' for christmas this year...lets say our prayers and hope some parents have better sense....i own several guns and rifles and target shoot and hunt regularly...i,ve taught my kids and wife how to safely handle and use a gun...i also have a CWL and do carry when i feel the time and the place nessesitate it.....regulation is a waste of time...what criminal is gonna follow the law...but i'll tell you, if i walked around a corner and saw this "Sniper" in the prone posistion taking aim at an innocent citizen,i would certainly exercise my god given right and put a cap right in the back of his head...period

In Oklahoma we are privlaged to have the carry concealed license, and when I turn 24, I plan on getting one. With my family owning a business, we feel as though its our responability to our customers and emplyees to try and handle any situation as it arises. When the alarm goes off at 2am, you have no Idea on what to expect, if its real or a false alarm. That is why we meet and great the police with a AR-15 and 12 guage with alternating buck shot and slugs with 18" barrel and pistol grips. For some reason, the local small town police follow us in.
The people who complain about assault riffles being to dangerous, dont get the idea that any gun will basically do the same thing, and that any gun can be moded to perform better. All it takes is one spring in most guns to have a full auto.
One of the best people to listen to is Ted Nuggent, his ideas and thoughts are great, and really makes since.

We do not need any new gun laws or restrictions! It doesn't matter what new restrictions they try and pass...NOTHING would stop a determined, psycho "sniper guy" (except a high powered cartridge by a private citizen or police officer).
