Gun Controll
Wait until Dennis shows up or some Canadian (no offense to gun-loving Canadians)....We are all happy right now floating in our "gun lovers" balloon....eventually someone will show up to pop it...But it is nice to know there are others out there like me....I have excused other men for complete lack of automotive knowledge (of course I'm no auto genius anyway, but I sure as hell don't call AAA when I have a flat tire), but I just can't believe that any man would be able to sleep without a firearm at his residence for protection. I also can't forgive any man who doesn't understand his fiduciary responsibility to protect his family properly.
Whenever I bump into some hemaphrodite "guy" who tells me he sees no need to own a gun, and then I look over and see his wife and two little girls, I feel like smacking the guy....Maybe that guy will think twice about that if he ever has to visit his wife and kids' graves because he wasn't man enough to prepare for the situation....Really doesn't matter to me though, I protect my loved ones, so screw everyone else who doesn't....
Ahhhh! Felt good to rant.....I love guns....I wonder what the gas-guzzler haters think about guns...

Ted Nuggent is awesome on guns as well as red meat. He for sure aint no animal rights wacko.
Anyway, back to the subject of guns. Guns are our friend. Think of it like this, if this nut case going around shooting people happen to be in the field in the back of my house and I seen him getting ready to take down another innocent person I would grab my 10 gage shootgun and blow his head off
Sounds pretty friendly to me....
An innocent life saved, and a wacko taken out saving tax payers thousands upon thousands of dollors.
If I seen some middle eastern wacko looking like he was getting ready to fire off a rocket into a building or something again I would pull out my friendly 10 gage shootgun and blow his head off, perhaps I would do that nut case yell and dance they do over there in their homeland
sounds friendly to me.
So, buy a gun and save a life, or many lifes at once and remember "your gun is your friend"
See a gun is both conservative and liberal, it is pro-choice and pro-life all round into one nice shinny piece of life loving metal and plastic...

Well, thats an easy question. They love guns, Why would they not? They would like for us all to go back to the wild wild west in the time where we all would ride horses and buggies.
I agree with your point about protecting your family. Especially since that incident where the guy walked in the house and grabed that (I think 15 year old) or 14 right in the middle of the night.
God forgive anyone that walks in my house in the middle of the night, because if they aint screaming fire, or anoucing some other emergency they will be shoot, most likely dead with my 10 gage shootgun. I will shoot first, and if they are very lucky I may ask questions later after I kick the sh*t out of them for bleeding all over my new carpet
My daughters step dad tried molesting her but was unsuccessful. I got full custody of her after that. She is 14, anyway he (step-dad, chester which ever) made a remark that he could come in my house in the middle of the night and kill me with this ti quan dow or what ever. I told him come on over buddy, I am not worried at all but your going to look funny when the cops find your body with your pen*s in your mouth.....
It's for reason like that guns are good. Either way it don't really matter about the ones that don't like them since there is NOTHING they can do about it, they have a small problem called the 2nd amendment

Did you know that Senator Dianne Feinstein (D) is a registered gun owner? Can you say hypocrite? I knew you could
Sad part is one day we will be dis-armed. Just hope I'm not alive to see it.

Sincethe dog chewed up the door mat, my wife wants to get a new "Welcome" mat, I want to get get one that says "I dial 357"
Why is it that trucks and guns just seem to go together? I've never seen a gun rack in the back window of a car.

I like the "i have smith and wesson insurance"
if someone pulls a gun on you, and the hammer is back, just slide your hand between it and they cannot fire the gun. Might hurt, but you will not die.

Gun Control ... sounds like this snipper wacko has pretty good gun control if you ask me ... one shot one kill
I think they ought to be checking out the backgrounds of some of the resent washouts from some of the eleite forces , sounds like someone who thinks he has something to prove.

Have you ever heard her reasoning behind her gun ownership, Rosie's for that matter? It is the most convoluted of all liberal arguments. You see, Dianne is a true believer in the non-ownership of firearms, you could say she is the Gandhi of the anti-gun movement. Right now, she owns guns for her protection because we live in such a violent world, and a person of her stature and position (anti-gun) must protect herself. In order to fulfill her duty to rid the US of guns, she will have to get stricter and stricter laws passed for the American citizen (of course with loopholes for her because, remember, she needs the guns worse than we do). At that time, when the populace is disarmed, the great Gandhi will turn over her guns, as will all prominent and powerful people, and we will be SAFE! YIPEE!!!
BTW, I just noticed you were in Georgia...It's always nice to have Georgia as a neighbor...You can always count on those good ol' boys.....Sorry we almost screwed up the election, but if it weren't for those dumba$$es in Southern Florida everything would be fine....I wish they'd just cut that portion of the State off.....
Frank, maybe we won't be disarmed...I have relatives in Great Britain, and the situation is getting even worse over there. I'm hoping that gun-ban will be such a disaster no one will be able to ignore it.....

Bunch of pick up driving, gun loving yahoos!
J/K!
Yah sure, ban guns, the guns that have already been manufactured, so that the RESPONSIBLE gun owner cannot have them. These guns will already be in circulation, so someone will get their hands on them. Responsible people? I don't think so.
I don't have guns, and don't think I need them. I think if I were to be shot it would be in the crossfire of some criminal activity or by some syco like the sniper. As far as protecting my home and family, no kids here, just me and my girl. We live in a good neighborhood, and our house looks like a dump compaired to the ones around it. I don't think this would be the first choice for the local criminal. I would also be concerned that if I had a gun here that in might get into the hands of the wrong person. I think that I will opt for that BB bat if I'm confronted. I figure I'm less likely to be in jail for murder if I crack some one over the head with a bat.
So, there may be some of you that say that I'm not a "man" because of my lack of desire to own guns. I have only man parts, no question there. Though I don't feel the need to own a gun myself, I do believe that it's very important to preserve the right for RESPONSIBLE people to own guns. For sport or protection, whatever. If the laws take the guns away from the responsible owners then it's the law inforcement and the criminals who have them. I don't like that too much.
In a nut shell (or perhaps, shell casing) I am not a gun lover, just someone who believes it's important to preserve the RIGHT of RESPONSIBE people to own guns.
That's it.

my brother hunts
i dont
he has guns
i dont
in a perfect world i would like to see only the police having hanguns and no one else, but that aint gunna happen.
every law abiding citizen should have the right to own a rilfe/shotgun.
on the reverse side of the earlier post of the child playing with a realistic looking toy gun, check this out.
i was at my brothers house and he showed me a present he had recently purchased for his wife.
it was in a small bright blue velcro case. a handgun, dont recall the caliber, maybe a .22 anyway, the gun looked to be made primarily of some sort of polymer mostly the same color blue as the little case with black 'trim'. it looked like a freakin toy.
i know it wasnt, but i dont know if all the children that cold end up with their hands on this would. this gun was small enough to fit mostly in the palm of my hand and was very narrow to boot.
its small, and designed to be carried descretely. what if she left her purse somewhere and a kid finds this thing? this is just bad business. guns can be scary and shouldnt be made to look like water pistols.

Gun Control will never work!
Guns don't kill people...
...bullets kill people.
I say remove all restrictions on assault weapons and just ban bullets.
Even better than banning them, tax the hell out of them. That way, only rich people could shoot at us and we could pay down the National Debt at the same time.

Raoul - you may recall a few years back (don't recall exactly - perhaps the same time frame as the Crime Bill of '94), there was actually a proposal on the table to place an exhorbitant tax on ammunition (and all its components for reloading) with the thought that it would limit availability.
wittom - I think you hit the nail on the head. The whole key is responsible gun ownership. Unfortunately, responsibility is missing in a lot of these situations (Columbine, Jonesboro, etc). Nice post - glad to see someone who is not necessarily pro-gun that isn't strongly anti-gun. A very unusual combination.
[And I don't think that the lack of a gun makes anyone less of a man, anymore than a .45 in the hand of a 12 year old makes him a man.]
billycouldride - We all know that there is no such thing as a "perfect world". If there was, law enforcement officers would be able to devote their time to putting away violent criminals, instead of the 17 year old smoking pot, or spending hour upon hour filling out paperwork, etc. Since that officer isn't out on the street 100% of the time, I want to have the ability to protect my loved ones from any creep that wants to do them harm. Since I am not 6'6", and a 7th degree black belt in multiple disciplines of martial arts, a handgun gives me the best means of doing that.
cyberhiker - This nutcase isn't doing anything more than millions of deer hunters in the US could do (as far as marksmanship goes). The only report I have heard that has given any indication of the suspected distance of the shot was about 150 yards. For a hunter who knows his weapon, that is nothing.
PhillipSVT - Your theory on placing your hand between the hammer and the frame assumes a couple of things: first that you are close enough to do this, and second that you are quick enough to do this. Of course, the primary assumption is that the assailant is truly ready to pull the trigger to begin with. If he isn't, and you make a sudden move towards him/her, all bets are off.
01 XLT Sport - I agree on Ted Nugents books. God, Guns & Rock and Roll is a good read. However, don't you think a 10ga is a little overkill in the middle of the night in your home?

Gun Control means nothing more than simply hitting what you are shooting at. The world has already seen what happens when a country is successfully disarmed. I'm sure you all remember Hitler!
A government that fears its people is a Democracy. A people that fear their government is a Monarchy.
Guess you pretty well know where I stand. God bless the Second Amendmant.

One of the first posts summed this up nicely.....
Murder is already illegal.
Whether I kill you with a gun, knife, pepsi bottle or blender the act that I committed is illegal and must be punished.
If somebody hurts one of my loved ones I am not going to go after the maker of the knife, the maker of the gun, the maker of the pepsi bottle or the blender maker. I am going to go after the sick SOB who performed the act.
Gun owners tend to be very self reliant people, so do pickup truck owners as a rule so I can understand why this has been a one sided debate so far.
In a perfect world there would be no crime, no hate, no war etc. The world isn't perfect and even if you could eliminate 100% of the firearms on planet earth you still will not eliminate crime, hate or war. To eliminate those you have to eliminate all humans.

Sorry to bust in, but this is a subject close to my heart.
