Gun Controll
I am with cpadpl, Frank S and the others. I thought my point was pretty clear Dennis. The constitution is what states I DONT NEED TO LICENSE OR REG. MY GUN WITH ANYONE. I don't care how many other things are lic. or reg. or what is lic. or reg. The constitution does NOT addresses any of those. As far as that goes none of the things you mentioned, Doctocs, cars etc has anything to do with defending and keeping our freedom. GUNS DO, the 2nd amendment is there for one basic purpose TO INSURE THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT TRY TO CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION, without the proper means to do so.
As a matter of fact I do not belong the the NRA, never gave money to the NRA, never voted for anyone because they were or were not part of the NRA. So the NRA and their views have nothing to do with my thought process. I will agree their thoughts and beliefs are the same as mine, or mine are the same as theres. Guess you could just call that two different educted, and knowledgable groups, the NRA and people like myself and the others that can read and understand the ENGLISH langauge thats is contained in the constitution, specifically the 2nd amendment.
That is one of the main problems with Liberals. They always want to blame someone with MAJOR cash to line there own pockets, like gun manufactures, stores that sale them etc. You never see liberals out trying to enforce the gun laws on the book, why? because it has NO MONEY value to the liberals. Liberals have flawed thought processes, they think they know whats better for everyone else.
Lets look at the liberals approch to gun reg. or lic. WHO decides who gets guns and who don't? who decides on when to re-reg. or re-lic. peoples guns? who decides the limits of guns one can own? Yes I ask that because that would be soon to follow any type of gun reg. or lic. Some dumb *** would come along and say "Hey this guy don't need to own 20 guns, or 30 guns etc. He only needs one"
To be quit honest I myself feel it is illegle to tax any gun sales or bullet, ammo sales. Why? because it infringes on peoples right to own something they are ENTITLED to own because of the constitution. Is in not illegle to have a poll tax? I don't recall anyone every taxing me for the right to vote. So why the hell should I have to pay a tax on a gun that I have the RIGHT to own?
Tell you what, once you liberal people get all the crimanal to reg. or lic. their guns and you can prove for a fact you know where every single gun is at as far as the crimanals go then I will THINK about changing my mind. Since that will never happen I won't be changing my mind.

The reason most are against a registration, is because it will create a master list of who has what. It could lead to confiscation, or something else.
The Consitiution guarnttees our rights, one of them being firearm ownership. If thats taken away, because gun owners may be a minority, and most people have a different opnion about gun ownership, whats next?
What if most of the population is Catholic, they can pressure lawmakers to elimnate other religions? Our Consitiution is clearly written, and those who think the second ammendment is about a states ability to organize a milita, and pertains to soldiers, should read it.
The defintion of "Milita" hasen't changed, it is an army composed of citizens rather than professional soldiers. Not under congressional control.
Websters: in USA "all" able bodied men 18 to 45 who are not members of regular armed forces.
The definition is the same now as it was when the constitution was written.
In fact the 3rd ammendment even mentions a "Soldier" by name.
No soldier shall, in time of peace be quatered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war.....
So they knew the difference then, as is still is today.
I'm a member of the NRA, I don't agree with all of ideas, however I feel I had to pick a side when it comes to gun ownership. And its not just guns, its losing a freedom, a right I have as an American under the Constitution. Who should be able to deside my rights? If I lose this , what my friends will be next?
Its about taking away freedoms, rights,....not just guns. They may just be the beginning.
If you have guns, joining the NRA makes sense. As I said before, I don't subscribe to all thier methods, however they are much closer to mine than the Gun Grabbers.

Dogs are licensed. Drivers are licensed. Doctors are licensed. Nurses are licensed. Businesses are licensed. Bicycles are registered. Cars are registered. Radios are licensed. Boats are licensed. Trailers are licensed. Radars are licensed. Hunters are licensed. Practically every electronic device is licensed. Why no outcry?
My dog isn't licensed, my bicycle isn't registered, I don't have a license to operate a radio, I don't have a hunting license (and don't need one), and I'm not licensed in my profession. And I don't have to do any of this and I'm not breaking the law! (yet, anyway)
Cars, boats, and trailers are registered so they can be taxed, hunters are licensed so they can be taxed to pay for the DNR to make sure they are licensed. I'm seeing a trend here - require something to be licensed, so the government can make money off of it!
What else can we add to this list - I know, land. The difference between the US and most other countries is we own our land - sort of. We own it until we don't pay or yearly rental fees (taxes) and then the government comes and takes it away.
Is it peer pressure? Is it a case of lemmings following the leader? Do you blindly follow the NRA? Do you trade, buy and sell guns often so you just don't want to be bothered with the paper work? Do you have something to hide from the authorities? Don't you trust your government?
Oh yeah, in case you haven't figured it out yet, our government is doing something right now that only other governments do.
I just had to post again, I was thinking about something early this morning. Seems like regardless of the issue, we go around in the same circle. I'm extremely curious why liberals and Dennis (who I am not labeling as a liberal because he says he's not one) never, NEVER address the specific issue we bring up. Dennis is guaranteed to dance around any issue, opining on some long drawn out argument, that indeed makes sense, but as for the instant issue is completely irrelevent.
Let's take a look at Amendment II (not need to repeat it here with you guys). Let's take a look at Amendment X -
"The powers not delegated to the Untied States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
There's the difference between dogs and cars having to be licensed, and guns not having to be licensed. It is an established right that no one can interfere with. Plain and simple....
Let's address that issue. Don't talk about sheep being led somewhere by the NRA, don't talk about how your snorkel fish have to be licensed. A newsflash has to be sent to liberals - we are a nation of laws and a Constitution. Just because YOU think something is logical and proper, doesn't mean that it fits within our framework of doing things. I think that child molestors should be publicly beaten, or let lose in the neighborhood they did the molesting. But I understand in our system everyone has certain rights, and therefore I accept the way it is.

You touched on a good point.
"A newsflash has to be sent to liberals - we are a nation of laws and a Constitution"
That is the main problem with liberals, they do not believe in the laws or the Constitution "Unless" it fits their needs to do so. Time and time again you hear the liberals publically putting down laws as stupid, or thats not what they really mean. Latest example was the governor race. I don't recall what the law stated, but it had the number of days that the person had to be on the ballot before the election. For the sake of this post I will use 45 days. It was right there in the law, very plain to see, very simple to read 45 DAYS. Yet, what did the liberals do, try to explain it away and actual say "they didn't mean 45 days" and people have to have a choice for elections.
Where is that in the Constitution, no where does it say how many people have to run for office, no where does it state you can NOT have an election if only one person is running because others have checked out. Yet, the liberals make up laws and disregard the ones they don't like to fit there needs.
Liberals are not so much about getting rid of guns, as they are of taking away GOD giving rights, as granted to us by the Constitution. Liberals are about CONTROL of others way of life, to what they can own ( land, type of cars, guns, knives etc) to what they can eat, to how they conduct themselfs be it private or in public.
Liberals hold no one accountable for their actions UNLESS the liberals can make money out of it. Liberals hold big business, family business, governments, law obiding citizens (who make good money) etc accountable for something they have nothing to do with. Example, some moron robs a store and kills someone you don't see a liberal holding the guy responsible for his actions, rather its someone or something else. Why? because the stupid moron has no damn MONEY.
So take it to heart to shut down or shut up as many liberals as possible because if they ever get their way this will be a socialist country where they control everything. If you on a list for owning a gun they will be coming for you, and hell why not since the Constitution will be no more worth a piece of paper to wipe their *** with.

If you guys are thinking the Consitution and our laws protect your rights, please note this quote from a member of Congress:
"The Constitution is like my old blue dress ... it doesn't fit anymore."
--Rep. Ellen Tauscher, (Democrat, California)
Keep in mind Ms. Tausher is more to the center than many in the House of Representatives. What percent of our congress view the Constitution as an impediment to creating their vision of the perfect society (complete with an all powerful central government)?
Sure, Ms. Tausher and everyone else in Congress has sworn to uphold our Constituion and laws. IMO many view of them view their oath as a necessary little lie to further their agendas. For lots of them, that agenda includes eventually disarming law abiding citizens.

As a wise man once said, the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.
Unfortunately, many people are just too busy to be bothered. So our freedoms are gradually chipped away.
I would like a requirement that EVERY law written by Congress must explicitly cite the portion of the Constitution that authorizes them to make that law. What percentage of legislation passed this year by Congress could pass that test?
Would love to say more, but I have to get back to work to pay my taxes. Wish I was allowed to keep a little more for my family, but that's another topic.

gun control
As a police officer, let me add me humble yet meaningless oppinion. I would rather have a few "nuts" with guns if the average citizen can carry. Most people try to do the right. Do I want to be the only one trying to defend a bunch of unarmed people? I would try, but it would be imposible. Crime is kept under control by the avereage person having access to guns. Think about this. Put a sign in your yard that promotes having guns. Or put a sign in your yard that promotes gun control. Now think of yourself as a criminal. What house to you go to when you think someone is home? I would go on but then I'd go on and on and on ect.
Hooray For Gun Confiscation
I am for gun registration and eventual confiscation -------- all you fools stupid enough to register will have no guns and I will be the only person in the country with a gun. After all I know what I am. Everyone else being lawabiding will be defenseless. All gun grabbers should be happy then, only me and the police will be gun owners and all the criminals will turn theirs in.
There are not enough stupid people in the world to start confiscating guns in West Virginia

As XLT said, great post. I guess that is basically what it boils down to. I have often thought that people that support various things like handgun licensing were 1) too stupid to understand the issue, or 2) just decided to ignore it. I am coming to the conclusion that many leaders of our nation are #2, and the average citizenry that follows them are #1.
It's utterly amazing to me the support some of these legislators get, I guess just based solely on public panic and questionable science and/or statistics. Doesn't anybody care enough to do a little research before the blindly support something, just because "it seems logical" or "we need to protect the kids..."? The list could go on and on: gun control, global warming, fossil fuels, clean air, tobacco, pesticides, asbestos, etc. etc.
To this day, I have not met a liberal that just did not stare at me, jaw dropped open speechless when I point out that one volcanic eruption puts more devilish chemicals into the atmosphere than man has since the beginning of time, or that every human being on earth breathes in numerous particles of asbestos every day of their life (people in the West especially California breathe in tons), or that many more lives are saved with the defensive use of firearms than by accidents in the home.
But the amazing thing is - these facts don't phase them at all. It doesn't even make them think about going to do some research. I've actually had people say to me, "Well, even so, guns need to be banned.." or "even so, we need to lower car emissions..." It's like these people have an argument, you challenge it, they said yeah okay you are right, but I support this anyway. That simply tells me that they just want what they want, and don't care about having a legitimate argument or cause. It's nice if they do, but even without one, they support something for NO REASON!
I guess the bottom line is people want guns licensed and/or banned. It doesn't matter what the 2nd Amendment says, it doesn't matter if every study on the face of the earth started favoring an armed citizenry, they just want what they want, and ultimately they will get it............

People have a reason to suppport their misguided cause. You know what that reason is? It's because that's what they were told to do.
We are all so busy these days, but we are affected by the world around us and feel that we should interviene in some way. We work hard all day and then come home and turn on the tube, so we can be educated. There is the problem! There are too many people who believe what they think is right because they were educated by a half hour of the nightly network news, or by reading the headlines that scroll across the bottom of the screen on Fox, or CNN.
Now, I'm not saying that the whole country is a bunch of idiots, but you have to admit, there are widly varying skill leavels here. I am not the most educated person around, but, I don't go around telling people what's right and what's wrong for this country. This country that consists of millions of different people. I don't know what's the best thing for all of us, and I will never try to make anyone think I do!
The people in our government, elected to represent us, are well aware that many people are easily influenced. Too many people are too easily influenced! The tv adds draw these people in and shape the way they think. I guess it happends to all of us to an extent, but we all know that there are plenty of people out there who are just waiting for the bandwagon to jump on.
Now, obviously, I don't have scientific data to substantiate my claims, but then I did say I'm not the most educated, and I'm not trying to get anyone to vote for me. Just about everything I post here is my opinion.
It is my opinion that the biggest problem with the gun control issue, and just about every other issue covered on CNN, and network news is, there just aren't enough free thinkers. People who realize that they are but just one member of this HUGE society. People who feel strong about their beliefs but don't discredit others because they believe different. People who know enough to take the information they gather from media sources with a grain of salt, as even that is spun to get people to think a certian way. I think we need more free thinkers!
What I see here, for the most part, is free thinkers. I also see people who are obviously educated, and know how to have a good debate. And they say that pick up truck drivers are hicks?
Hopefully the free thinkers prevail, and the right to bear arms, to protect ones self and ones family, remains intact.

Let me respectfully disagree with you about the "people for gun control having no guns" I would be willing to bet, that a good amount of them have guns, but not the ***** to say so. They also feel its ok for them to have them since they (liberals) seem to think they know what is best for all of us.
One example, a tree hunging, enviormental wacko in calif a while back was TOTALLY against clear cutting, in forest, people on their own land etc. This guy, the tree hugger had I believe like 20 to 30 arces. He clear cut every damn inch of it and figured for him it was ok. Go figure????
Another fine example, the Hollywood wussies cry and cry about we should be helping the homeless, we should be feeding them, housing them etc, etc, etc. They go out for a night spend the nights in the streets with them and figure now they know what its like and for some God unknown reason feel they helped a little bit by spending the nights on the street with them. Yet, these wussies that are so loaded with money, houses that most of the square inches they most likely have never seen have never invited homeless to live with them, be it a day, a week, or a year. Now if they REALLY believed in helping them they would be opening their doors, yet they don't because they DON'T care, only care how they look in the camara with a tear so everyone else says "they care"
I think another point on this gun control or just freedoms in general and most people just being stupid is about right. I think it comes down to this. It is always hard to do the RIGHT thing, or to act the RIGHT way. Most people generally go along with what the CROWD does, be it in jr. high, high school, collage and on in life. Most of us here know how that is and how that feels. We are basically what everyone else looks at as oddballs. In fact we are the ones with ***** to do what is right, and say what is right and if necessary to act on something to insure it stays RIGHT.
Liberals on the other hand were the ones in school that would do what ever they had to, say what every they had to in order to have friends, and keep them. Liberals are weak, spineless, and usally uneducated. Liberals are not concerned on the long term only the short term and what they can gain from it which is friendship and money. Liberals talk about consertives being about money when in fact it is always the liberals taking the money and consertives giving it back to the RIGHTFUL owner. NO the poor are not the rightful owner of money that should be giving back because they are lazy.
Anyway getting back on track gun control is simple this:
It is what is popular in todays society so liberals will be on that wagon. Trust me on this, if it was popular for people to own guns and if CNN was stating it is GOOD to own guns then the liberals would be out there trying to insure the government gave every person a gun.

Article II.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
I don't have a problem with the above Ammendment. I never had. However, it does not preclude the registration of said arms and the fact that gun registration is allowed and is followed and has survived Constitutional challenges says to me that gun registration is, in fact, legal.
I never paid a gun registration fee. I don't pay a fee to own my guns. I don't ever see that happening. The only fee we pay now is to reimburse the police department for performing the required background check. I think it's $15 and good for a year and you can purchase as many guns as you want so long as the permit is valid.
I don't have a problem with background checks because I don't want to be selling my guns to somebody who's a convicted felon or mentally unstable. That permit to purchase releases me from any guilt in selling a firearm to the wrong person.
Gun registration is not unconstitutional. You people are letting the NRA do your thinking for you.
Oh yeah, funny how people start calling people like me (registration proponents) names. Sheeple? LOL. If I were a sheep, I'd be following the NRA and the rest of you.
