Saying goodbye to my Ford

Been good to me for 18 years but, I'm moving to snow country and will need 4wd.
Found a great deal on a '05 Dodge Ram.

F150 5.4L 260hp 345 torque @ 2250rpm, curb weight 3923
Ram 4.7L 235hp 300 torque @ 3200rpm, curb weight 4756

Driving impression comparison :
Ford = Sports Car
Dodge = Bread Truck

It may be nice to have, but you don't NEED 4wd in snow country if you have patience and know how to drive. I don't live in snow country any more, but when I have been in the snow with mine, I haven't had problems. I do have winter wheels and Michelin X-Ice tires.

I have an old Wrangler for summer.

My wife said I can keep three bicycles but I can't have three vehicles.

How many miles on that old truck and where are you moving to?

Most people move OUT of snow country when they hit your age.....

Now why would you drive a Wrangler in the summer instead of the winter? Keep the F-150 for the summer and put a hardtop on the Wrangler for the winter!

Just get some good all season tires and keep the 150. That dodge is junk and you will kick yourself for dumping the ford for that piece of crap.

152,000 miles

My wife is from NH, we have lived in my home state VA for forty years.
We're retired and this is her plan.
Apparently, calling her three sisters long distance is expensive.
She showed me on paper how much money we can save and if you read it fast enough it makes sense.

Now I don't know who to believe.
For the last six years the guys at work told me my Ford was junk and a piece of crap.
I work at a Chevy dealership.

(Wonder what would happen if I got a job at Dodge and bought a Chevy?)

Well, if you decide you don't like the RAM (uh, bread truck), you won't have any problem making a few bucks off it. I'm 72 and I don't drive 140mph any more but I still like the feeling of power when I step on it. My Hemi powered Dodge Magnum gives me a thrill every time I drive it because it has so much torque. And my truck doesn't feel that bad either especially with the Superchip program.

Please don't leave the forum. We love your wit!

Not these days - almost all cell phone plans these days are unlimited talk to the whole country.

Wow Raoul is still around.
Yep as stated you don't NEED 4x4 in snow country but the first time you use it, you will be glad it's there. besides the fact that resale on a 2wd truck up here, is next to nothing.

it does depend on where you will be living.

nice Dodge by the way.my buddy has a Dodge with the 4.7 in it.. Seems to be a good truck so far

I got rid of the last Ford truck in my drive last year. I would definitely go back to Ford, but right now I have a Silverado 3500 4X4 and the better half just got a new Nissan Titan XD 4X4.

we live in the country though so our roads are the last ones plowed.

BTW I am the same way, I try to keep my Wrangler is for summer fun but now and than it goes in the snow

. I will have to find a couple pics

this is our road AFTER the plow went through......
