As Jim said, we don't make the rules, we simply try to keep the site operating at the level desired by the owners. We are not perfect, and sometimes we err by being too strict and other times, by not being strict enough. I think it all evens out in the long run, and we certainly talk to each other to make sure WE understand the rules as well as is humanly possible.
And, as Jim said, the GD forum does not bring in advertisers, so it would take very little to cause the owners to pull the plug on it. We'd prefer that not happen.
In general, in the time I've been a mod here, I've found the forum is relatively "self-policing". You guys know what is and is not appropriate and tend to slap someone down who strays over the line. That is as it should be in my book. Being "big brother" is no fun, especially when you're not paid!

Guilty as charged Punisher! I have recently realized I spend much more time in the GD section then anywhere else. I do spend time searching for solutions to minor problems with my F150, but less of my time has been spent in the Supercrew section than in previous years. I would hope I wouldn't be labeled a troll based on the total years I've been on the site. I have gone through 2 F150's and a couple of hundred thousand miles in those years. Thanks for pointing out the obvious, that shouldn't have eluded me for so long.
That is why I started trolling the GD section ( trolling in terms of looking, not a troll ).The other question site I am on in the Ford section, I keep with the flow of questions fairly easy, and either they don't understand me there, they don't read the answer, or fix it and move on.

I did not realize I made troll status already, is there a new title for that also ?I wondered what happened to that the other day. Does not shock me, figured it would grow tiresome after some time of the same round around.
The events of the past few days and the vitriolic posts back and forth concerning those events, comments on the intelligence and possibly parentage of the members doing the posting, questions about the patriotism of these same members, and other assorted derogatory comments having nothing to do with the subject of the events, have led me to the following conclusion:
It will work this way: The Right WingNuts will be allowed to register and post in the Right-Threaded Forum, and the Left WingNuts will be allowed to register and post in the Left-Threaded forum.
Any opposing views expressed in either forum will automatically earn the person expressing those views a permanent ban. This way, everyone can learn from each other in an "echo chamber"! No one will get their feelings hurt, and we'll all take comfort in the company of "correct-thinking" individuals! There will be no need to cast aspersions on anyone (and we mods can spend more time working on our trucks)!
This seems a slam-dunk, win-win to me, guys (and gals). What do YOU think?

One, reserved for "Right-Threaded WingNuts". You all know who you are. The other, reserved for "Left-Threaded WingNuts".
