I don't see any need to change anything. Really, though it can get heated, there are some pretty insightful discussions that go on here. It just sucks when some antagonist feels the need to name call and try to bully others. Those people seem to be the ones that cause the MODS to eventually shut down threads that were otherwise civil conversations.

I'm a life long resident of Massachusetts, and there aren't all that many people here who share my views. I like that I can come here to discuss current events and get the perspective of people from around the country.

I'm once again a F150 owner so I can discuss them as well, but I'm concerned about the state and trajectory of our country and would like to be able to converse with others about our concerns.

You just want to be the pivot man for the festivities that take place after

Jack, how about a 'no rules' forum where anything goes, enter at your own risk, where whiney, snivelling crybabies can't go complaining to mods because they feel butthurt.

See my comment about namby pamby moderators in the King Ranch Forum....

It's obvious that totally vitriolic and blatantly rude posts should be deleted but splitting the forum defeats the object of discussion and results in the bland postings that, for example, the King Ranch forum has degenerated into !!

PS J and J ...if you think I'm being a bit blunt I was pretty offended when after 10 years on this forum a post of mine was deleted a few months ago with absolutely no explanation from the moderators despite all the effort I have put in over the years to contribute and educate on that particular forum!

Oh cmon, as long as your posts meet the views as held by those on the right, they will never be deleted.

Habs, that's a great idea! A no-rules forum. I might modify that to be an almost-no-rules forum. NO profanity, racial slurs, etc. If you can't take the heat, don't enter.

I'd take odds either RP, Blue, J&J or Patman would have a stoke in the first 24 hours it's open.

Habs, you have a persecution complex! You have no concept of what gets deleted and why.

I'm not sure that splitting things up would make the discussions better. Having all like view points in one place would just make for a bunch of male cheerleaders. Habs and Bucky would like that but the rest of us would be bored pretty quickly.

Instead, why not have a politics subsection to GD. If you want to talk politics this is the place. It would free up GD for other threads but still allow for an active discussion of political topics. To make it really interesting you should have to show your voter registration card to be allowed in.

Or, you can beat me to it.

I'm in the process of building my own forum, as much as I love to discuss politics and religion part of the golden rules in my forum will be:

DEFINITELY NO PLOLITICS AND NO RELIGION!!!

Political and religious discussions are not allowed in this forum - at least as core topics. Because of some individuals' strong belief system, discussions of said topics become heated without warning. Intentionally or otherwise, animosity towards a member becomes evident and suddenly the whole friendly atmosphere of PerformanceUnleashedTalk.Com Forum begins to turn sour. It then creates a bit of an uncomfortable and sometimes hostile atmosphere which is not in the spirit of the forum.
Yes, sometimes it will be inevitable that and occasional comment on one or both of these controversial topics will creep in from time to time, and that's ok - as long as any comment is brief and does not elevate into an argument. Let's keep this forum light hearted and fun- the way it was suppose to be, the way I intended it to be. LIVE AND LET LIVE.

Jgger - that was going to be my next suggestion. After all, who better to learn from than yourself?

It's pretty clear my "echo chamber" reference slipped by a few folks. I was simply trying to point out that we learn nothing if our minds are closed to opposing viewpoints. And, this is what I'm seeing in all the mean-spirited responses when someone's ideas don't happen to mesh with another's.

When you call someone an "idiot" (or worse), just because his or her ideas don't happen to match yours, it diminishes you and makes the so-called "discussion" irrelevant. (And please, I'm using the term "you" in general. I'm not referring to anyone in particular.)

This Nation succeeded because people with VERY DIFFERENT ideas and attitudes figured out how to work together for the common good. I'd simply like to see us back on that road again, starting here (since I can't figure out how to get Congress to do it). Maybe, if enough of us "ordinary folk" set the example, our elected representatives will get the hint.

- Jack

I'm down with that one. I don't like politics because people are so freaking intense about it. Why can't people accept that someone else has a different opinion about something. Why does it HAVE to be what they think and only that!? The human race is very interesting to say the least.
