I'll be honest, my memory of reading the bible is a little hazy, but I did read it as a child, and I don't remember the sections in there that tells people to be so hateful and bigoted towards their fellow man.

Religion is a crutch for weak-minded people who are intellectually lazy and don't want to take responsibility for their lives, and want some fairytale of a story to cling to because to know the truth takes a lot more resolve.

Knowing that death is the end is a lot harder to accept than the promise of being reunited with past loved ones, past pets, rainbows and chocolate.

I think fundamentally your a good and decent person Greener, and that comes from within, you don't need religion and all the bs that comes with it to do right by people.

I am not afraid of fairy tales but I'm much more afraid of the real life kooks like you and him who DO believe and force their beliefs on everyone even if it means taking others and/or their life away.

This story hit a high note when a group of these so called "God fearing Christian" protesters assaulted a group of Egyptians for being Islamic despite the fact that:

1) The Egpytians were Coptic Christians.
2) They were there to protest the mosque.

Even after that came to light not a single person made a public apology for their actions. Behold the "compassion" of the conservative Christian-right.

I'm not going to vouch for the guy whom I have never met but I'd like to know how you told him politely that everything him and his family believes in is false. Also want to add that he believes the same thing about you probably. He probably believes that you only want to exterminate muslims and that you worship a false god the same as your belief about him. Just in case anyone misinterprets this, let me put it this way. When it comes to religion, everyone KNOWS that they are right...even when people disagree. Obviously someone has to be wrong and it always has to be the other guy because it can't be you, because you KNOW you are right. If the power on top is reading this thread and the millions like it, they are probably getting a real good chuckle.

I'd say those are pretty self explanitory. I grew up in a christain church where everyone was supposed to love one another as a brother or sister, they never told me that there were exceptions. We had visitors of other religions sometimes and everyone at our church was prefectly fine with that.

I'm curious, have you actually read the Qur'an? Is that how you found that all muslims are told to kill christains if they are true muslims? I hope you didn't sparknote the Qur'an, they often screw up interpretations.

 

Oh come on, have any of you ever even known a real muslim? If theyre being truthful with you, they will admit that they do not reject the orders given from their 'lords' to commit acts of violence. Their religion condones it.

I told him in a really nice, direct voice: "I feel that you should go back to Pakistan with your family if you're going to believe that way. America was not meant to adopt Islamic values." Period. I didnt call him a sand _______ or tell him that I wanted to put on a white hood and hang him for not being white. I'm not the least bit racist; but I am intollerant of a religion that believes in the killing of Christians. And I didn't literally mean "killing" him, I was just getting hot under the collar. In addition, when asked about the 9/11 attacks, he will not ....repeat, will not.... say that he didn't support those attacks.

It really irks me that some of you will roll right over, assume that I'm a white surprimcist, and allow someone like this muslim to roll right over you. God created us all equal, however that's where it ends. As far as this guys beliefs and his love for Iran, Islam, and promoting it here in the US, in my mind, he doesnt deserve 1 second of a true American's time.

Where does it say that being a Christian means that you never mess up and break the commandments? The Bible says that all sin and fall short of the glory of God. However, he paid the price for our sins through Jesus' death as a mortal human. Because of this, we are in debted to him and owe it to him to live our lives for Him.

This is where you have crossed the line of "religious tolerance", you know, that God given right that was among the FIRST additions to the United States Constitution by the Founding Fathers in 1791?

What kind of being would want to force people to love him? Imagine you are God, and you create a bunch of little monkeys like us on earth because watching us is better than watching HBO.

Yeah ok, lol. How insecure can someone be? If he was so great, he should've just made all of us love him from the get-go.
The fact that he gave us free will (and I know you were gonna throw that out there) just confirms that he is a nasty, vicious ***** who enjoys watching people suffer.

If I were God, I would want people to love me out of sincereity and love, and not because they are afriad of the beating if they don't conform.

Anyone who accepts love in this manner is not even worthy of love, let alone having a gazzillion simple-minded peeps from all across the planet bowing down to him.

I would rather burn in hell for all eternity than to worship someone who "let's so much suffering continue in the world, has the power to stop it, but instead just sits back and lets it happen.
