Bible Interpretation Question for the Experts
Yes
I do not believe that Jesus was not speaking literally when he said "there is no other way unto the father except by me". Jesus did not live a life encouraging people to worship him, but rather to pursue a life filled with choices based on a moral code and respect for all humans. Jesus did not build a church or ask for monuments to himself. He made it very clear that the path to heaven (the next life, ascension, whatever) is determined by the choices you make in this life. I agree that there is an understanding or common knowledge of what is right and wrong between humans. This determination is based on a set of beliefs and agreements held between these people. "Love you neighbor as yourself", etc...

Christ is very clear about all of this in the Bible. Good works are good, but justification through faith is what gives us eternal life.
