The machines I posted for price comparison are a single processor quad core Dell and a single processor quad core Mac. Go to Dells page and price it. You don't have to get the computer with dual processors. You can order it either way. And who's the retarded one? My God man.

You're the one that came back with the dual Dell with 2gig of ram and 80gig HD.
Why wouldnt you get the 8 core its included in the price I guess if we take a pc and get rid of options that you pay for you can eventually have a pc that is the same speed as a mac for the same price.

:::::BANGING HEAD ON DESK::::: That is with MINIMAL ram, video and storage!

Ok let's compare the 8 core duals then. Go price them if you don't believe me. These are as basic as you can get. I upgraded the processor on the Dell to match the Mac. Also upgraded the video card to 512mb to match the Mac. Upgraded the RAM to 4GB. That 4GB is the max RAM the Dell will take for some reason ??

Both 2.66Ghz Duals.
The Dell has a 750GB HD with 4GB RAM 512mb Video = $4598
The Mac has a 640GB HD with 6GB Ram 512mb Video = $4699

I know crap about PCs. The Dell isn't even an 8 core machine lol

I'm laughing at the comparisons of a Dell to an Apple anything. Dell's are cheaply built.

I used a MacPlus for 10 years. You could not hurt that thing. The only reason I had to give it up was that the stupid tax programs kept adding worthless features and the memory would no longer handle them.

How about HPs then? lol

HP xw9400 2.8Ghz Dual Core Opteron 2220 Processor
4GB Ram 300GB HD NVIDIA 512 Video 16x DVD
$4299

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...1-3211286.html

To the Mac
2.93 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon
8GB Ram 1TB HD 512 Video 18x DVD
Plus you can add a 24" LED Cinema Display or $899 worth of something else instead lol
$4,248

I honestly think I've proven my point and would just like to be done with this. But I know he's going to draw me back in. Probably with his 1700 dollar Gateway. With the reviews those Gateways get you're probably going to need two. One for parts to keep one running.

Ok here are 2 screen shots from the checkout page of apple and dell. I built 2 computers that are almost exactly equal in performance, the dell has a better graphics card but they have the same speed processors. Also note this is a dell xps which is not a high end gaming pc.
Dell

Mac

Note the difference in price the mac is $1620 more.
Lets look at the small differences
Dell 750 gb hd mac 640gb hd
dell 16x dvd/cd burner mac 18x dvd cd burner
dell 20" widscreen monitor mac no monitor
Dell geforce gt 220 1024mb cache mac geforce gt 120 512mb cache
Both come with keyboard and mouse.
I have shown you several times now that the mac is much more expensive as far as dollar/performance.

HP? Surely you're joking. Their laptops are notorious for early HD failure. My sister just got hers back from HP. Thankfully it still had 3 weeks left on the 1 year factory warranty. The Geek Squad guy at Best Buy said, "Hard drive?" as she walked up to the counter with it !

How and why do think Dell offers this system and the Dell system I compared to the Mac? I'm curious what your thoughts are on this.

First what do you think about this comparison? Seems like the dell is way cheaper for more computer doesn't it?

Now here is the screen shot of the dell that you have been comparing too.

I changed the ram but didn't mess with the hd and video card because you already know how much price difference they make.
The reason this computer is so expensive is 1 the motherboard supports 2 processors 2 it has two quad cores. This is not a proper comparison but it is a faster computer and does come out around the same price( a few hundred dollars more than the mac when the video card and hd are changed). There aren't many 8 core computers out there right now so therefore they are bringing a premium.
BTW the reason this computer only offers up the 3gb or ram is because its a 32 bit version so thats all it will recognize.
Here is a link to build a single processor 64 bit version.
http://configure.us.dell.com/dellsto...755_64_1&s=biz
I can also get you a link to the 64 bit dual processor version if you would like.

"Seems" being the operative word in that question.

That comparison is like comparing a F150 Platinum (mac) to a Dodge SLT (dell). It looks good, faster in the right circumstances, you wouldn't want to be seen with it, it shakes, rattles and rolls when running, and the damn transmission just went out.

Don't get too carried away with upgraded graphics cards, internal drives, etc that thing might burst into flames.

Care to answer my question, now?

Really and why is that? Are you saying that xps is not a nice computer, are you saying it has problems? It seems to have a 4.4 out of 5 approval rating, and looks to be built using good components to me.

The reason dell offers the t7400 and the xps is that the t7400 is a dual processor computer, and the xps is a single. Two completely different computers.

Your comparing a home computer to a workstation computer. That xps is built as cheap as possible. I would love to see if that power supply and mother board could hold up day after day 8 hours a day. Like I said, I wouldn't get too carried away on power hungry graphics cards, processors, drives and externals it could burst into flames. I wouldn't want to be the guinea pig to try it. That computer should be compared to an iMac. If you don't believe that then there's no way I can convince you. That's why they offer a BETTER BUILT WORKSTATION. Like this one that you should be comparing to the Mac Pro.

The Mac Pro line and Dells upper line are professional workstation computers. Using much better components than the lower lines. Doesn't it make sense to you? Why would they even offer the 7500, linked below, if it wasn't a better built machine??????

I'm out. I've made my freaking point over and over again. If you want to still believe you can buy a better built comparable PC to the Mac Pro for $1500 less, than more power to you.

Time to ride.

Lol if you actually believe that the mac pro is built any better than the xps then you are helpless, you are right the t7500 is built better, better than the xps and better than the apple. The mac pro is just a home computer with a freaking tower, instead of an all in one like the imac. I guess since you can't prove me wrong you can just give up.

Here is something to leave with
http://store.apple.com/us/configure/...mco=NDE4Mzg5OQ
http://configure.us.dell.com/dellsto...ktop-xps-a2420
Dell has a faster processor, and better video card plus its $100 bucks less.
