Haha this thing is EPIC. I just wish I knew how to use it. Anyone else have one? How long did it take until you were pretty knowledgeable with it? Any cool tips/tricks for it?
If anyone feels like answering some dumb questions post up...I havent used a Mac since 4th grade (4th year college student now).

Wow. The jealousy really comes out when someone has something nicer, doesn't it. Sad.
I'm a noob in the Mac world also, no tips for you yet. Just enjoy the new toy and learn as you go. There are still a bunch of programs I haven't even opened up on mine yet.

I just don't understand what's so great about them? When I was looking for a new laptop I started looking at Macs, but they were so much more expensive I didn't really consider one. I looked at the screen size, processing power, memory and hard drive size and couldn't find anything that justified spending, at least, another $1,000 more than a comparable PC.
Here's a few things I've heard makes Macs 'better', but I don't really count them:
- No viruses. I've never had any virus issues on any of my PCs.
- Doesn't crash. I've only had 1 PC crash, and that was when my hard drive died. (6 year old laptop, the reason I was in the market for a new one.)
- User friendly. I can use my PC just fine, but I've used computers for 20+ years. Maybe if I had never touched one before that might a good selling point.
So Mac guys, what's so great about them?
I guess I could say the arrogance of Mac owners comes really comes out. I wasn't aware that Macbook Pro's were nicer than everything else on the market.

I work on both platforms. I do a lot of repairs on Macs and PC's and they both are good. Neither one is better than the other. Another thing to keep in mind is that MAC's do get viruses but why write them when only a small majority own them vs. PC's. If you understand Unix like many understand DOS then your ready to write viruses.

There is nothing in this thread that was arrogant. Just jealousy of someone that purchased a new Mac.
I have noticed this about some on this board. They must come in to trash someone's purchase for no good reason without contributing anything to the thread starters' queries. One must be dark and gloomy inside to do that to someone else. Truly sad.

And the Mac users are the arrogant ones? oooooook

Now Mr. S, could you explain why Macbooks are nicer than what azmidget91 and RileyDog have? After all, you did call them jealous, sad and dark and gloomy on the inside. I'm curious to know why.

I picked up a new MacBook Pro in June. First Mac for me and I absolutely love it. I will never go back to a PC. You'll learn fast. Just mess around with it.
