So I just bought a macbook pro...
that is probably the most retarded statement i have ever seen you say. i have had 2 macs and i can tell you i am no "nonconformist Obama-loving hippie" and i will never drive a prius. i guarantee that my mac can out perform your PC in every way. so what if it cost me twice as much. ill most likely get twice the life out of mine than you will from you PC.
i find that those people that hate macs are either those that have never tried one, or have tried one and cant afford them so they are jealous of those that can.

Yada, yada, yada....
My kid's better than your kid because we had a home birth and saved several thousand dollars in hospital charges. Therefore he works better than your kid and is cheaper to keep. I can pay for his clothing with the money we saved birthing him ourselves instead of paying someone to do it.
He goes to public school instead of private school, saving us thousands more over his formative years. Ours is a better model than yours because he offers all the same features but is cheaper to keep.
Jeez people, kwit yer' belli akin'.
Own the computer you like and be respectful of other people's opinions to keep theirs.

Seriously though, I've only used PCs on a limited basis, But the navigation of the OS and file hierarchy compared to Macs, leaves me wanting to pull my hair out.
Even people in the front office have a hard time with it. I'll send them a file, they save it, and then can't find the damn thing. I'm sure it's 100% user incompetence, but from my limited experience at using PCs it's a fuster cluck.
I use Macs because I'm in graphic arts. Have been for over 20 years. Back when we first started doing graphics via computer (89 or so) Macs were it for graphics. All programs (mainly Adobe now) work seamlessly with each other. As I'm sure they would with a PC. But there is no way in hell I could even start to manage this department full of PCs as easily as I can with Macs. I just never have problems with any of the machines in here. I upgrade systems software usually about 6 months after a new version comes out. I upgrade all graphic apps as soon as they come out and it's painless.
Someone (Mason I believe) mentioned virus' for Macs are out there. In 20 years of using and managing up to 5 other work stations and countless models and mac operating systems we've never had one single virus.
The reason I bought one:
I had a Toshiba before and it was eaten up with viruses and the battery got to a point it only lasted about 10 minutes at a full charge and I only had it a year.
I am starting to get into photography and movie editing. I make highlight films for varsity highschool football and track teams.
The reason I bought a Pro over another Toshiba or Dell:
1. 5 hour battery life
2. It had the best screen of all the others
3. The trac pad is better than any others
4. Nice light behind the keyboard
5. The aluminum unibody is stronger, lighter, thinner, and much cleaner looking
6. I love my widgets for my stocks, weather, and reading instant computer functions
7. The ability to run windows and Mac
8. I don't have to worry about viruses
9. I can't really mess anything up even if I tried to
10. I don't have to download different software for different cameras and video cameras to load the contents onto my computer, just plug it in and it loads them in seconds... no software cds to mess with
11. Bluetooth
12. Wireless connect to printers and other accesories
13. The finder works better than pc's search
14. The built in camera/video recorder is nice for connecting with my family on live video chat from across the country as well
I know some of these things are offered on pc's now but all in this package at that time, you couldn't do it... It is worth every penny I paid for it and will last me a good 10 years with a battery replacement or 2.
Everything.

Can you explain what specifically you love about it?
I've never used a Macbook, and I couldn't justify the price on my own. I'm not biased towards PCs, or hate Macs or anything like that, I'm just curious.
On a separate but related note, can anyone explain why they cost so much more than a PC?

haha man you weren't kidding in that message, I read it before I came in here.
Ive always been a PC guy, and never thought id buy a mac. Then vista came out. I bought my lady a laptop with vista on it and its givin me nothing but problems.
Heres a couple of reasons I bought the mac:
Clean, thin, beautiful laptop (aesthetics are big to me)
Iphoto and Imovie: I got to play with these two bad lads at work with some of the displays, the tagging in the iphoto is awesome and the editing in imovie is pretty easy
After a day of playing with it, one thing thats noticeable to me that i use ieverday is how fast it connects to the internet. My laptop took about 30 seconds, my girls takes about a minute. the mac is instantaneous.
As of now the only two things i miss about my PC are internet explorer (prob because its all ive ever used to surf the web) and the close/minimize on the left side instead of the right side like on the mac.
So please, keep the bickering to yourselves....and out of my thread.

I haven't had to run a cd with a printer or camera in years, the newer pc's will find them just fine. I also have a bluetooth card installed in mine which is nice, and I also have a wireless card so I can wirlessly connect my desktop to the network for printers and other accesories.
Same with cable modems, routers, etc.
Ya they can now, vista is very good at this and 7 is supposed to be even better.
When I get my full version of 7 (for free...be jealous) I'll probably load it up on the mac and do dual boot.
