I upgraded from vista ultimate to 7 ultimate and every program I have works.
I use a mac at home because it's my old G5 from work 4 or 5 years ago. Maybe longer can't remember. More than likely will be using it for a long time. Dual 2Ghz. I don't foresee anything this computer is used for becoming a problem.
If a home computer/consumer user is buying Mac Pros to surf the web, read email, manage pictures, quick books etc.. it's none of my business. But they sure are wasting a lot of expansion and money doing it.
I use the Mac to make money. Just like in any other trade. You use the right tools for the job you do. In my case, it just so happens to be graphics arts and the right tool is a Mac.
We have a IT guy that takes care of all the computers at work. Can you guess where he never comes? The art department. I manage 5 Macs. That means new installs, system software updates, application software updates and that's it. I never have to touch the machines beyond that. On the other hand, that IT guy sure is in the front office time and time again because of a hardware problem, software re-install or someone's computer isn't on the network anymore or someone can't print because the printer isn't showing up. They have 3 computers and 2 printers.
My art dept has 5 computers and 3 printers. The last network problem I had was caused because the power went out so I had to unplug a Linksys box for a bit. Plugged it back it and the printer was back on the network.
Time is money. You get what you pay for. Nothing good in life comes cheap.
So the Mac Pro isn't the right machine for birddog living in his Mom and Dad's basement playing Dune. But for some of us making living with our computers it's the only choice.
You take care now. You make a great troll, btw.

BTW MX you should take a good look at that first link also.
Most problems with a pc are operator error, usually the person that has so many problems doesn't have a clue what they are doing. So they can either use an IT guy, or they can buy a mac so they don't have to know anything. I guess we see which way you went. My cousin is using a pentium II I built in 1997, I gave it to him about a year ago and its running just as good today as it did when I built it. Also most of the world that is making a living with their computers are using pc's as a matter of fact I am typing this from my business pc right now.
Ever check TOC? You say they either use an IT guy or buy a mac. Ever see how much money a company can save when they can cut IT costs? Quite a few large corporation are starting too see.
This first link points out resale only: http://machinist.salon.com/feature/2...ice/index.html
Now start factoring in everything else:

Even Microsoft's executives. A couple quotes from the link below. The link is from a windowsitpro site. "Earlier this year, a class-action lawsuit stemming from Microsoft’s ill-fated Windows Vista Capable marketing campaign revealed embarrassing email messages about Microsoft execs unable to use printers and run Vista on their own laptops."
and
"Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer must have been glowing an envious green when he typed the following in an email message (which was reprinted by Todd Bishop at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer) to Microsoft employees. “In the competition between PCs and Macs, we outsell Apple 30-to-1. But there is no doubt that Apple is thriving,” wrote Ballmer. “Why? Because they are good at providing an experience that is narrow but complete, while our commitment to choice often comes with some compromises to the end-to-end experience.”
That's priceless.http://windowsitpro.com/article/arti...n-redmond.html

Look at the droves of people using macs, I mean they rule the market.

You need look no further than numbers released today by NPD to understand Apple’s strategy. Its revenue share of the “premium” price market — that is, computers over $1,000 — is a staggering 91%. This means that 9 out of every 10 retail dollars that is spent on PCs in that price range, goes to Apple, as Betanews’ Joe Wilcox points out. That, for lack of a better word, is insane.

I'll tell you guys this, and perhaps it's got nothing to do with anything, but I'll say it just the same.
I'm pretty darn impressed with Apple as a company.
My 32gb Ipod touch arrived yesterday (my first ipod) and this piece of gadgetry is frikkin something else.
I had a question, so I called Apple's help line, and get this...
After being on hold for bout 45 seconds, an English speaking, accent free, woman answered the phone and proceeded to answer my questions in a very polite and professional manner.
It turns out the call centre is located in Charlottown, PEI.
She sent me a follow up email, and life is good.
Can you believe it? They hired an English speaking Canadian woman from right here in Canada to answer my question. This is unfrikkin heard of.
I never call Dell because their CS is for chit. It's one runaround after another.
I'm happy with my Dell PC, and if Apple's make their pc as nice as this Ipod, I think I'll be their next customer based on my positive customer service experience I jut had with them.
I still can't get over it.
I call Dell, it's answered my Sanjeeb in India (but they lie to me and try to tell me thir name is really Frank)
I call Bell Satelite, it's answered by Marikit in the Philipnes.
I call Apple, and it's answered by Katherine from Prince Edward Island.
Nice job Apple, what a classy move.
