Well said Raptor. I worked at Wendy's for 2 yrs while in high school, and another 3 months my first summer back home from college. Wendy's is the only fast food place I eat at now, except the occassional Taco Bell, because I know the standards that Wendy's has in regards to food handling and quality of the food.

Most people that complain about restaurants and fast food joints have never worked in that envrionment and I feel if you haven't been in that person's shoes you can't make judgements on their job. Working in a fast food joint is a lot more challenging than most people realize both physically and mentally not to mention the stress.

I live near this McDonalds and my wife and I have visited it a number of times since it first opened. When it first opened, everyone there was super-nice, orders weren't fast (as expected with a new opening) but they we're correct. Now, several months later, things have changed. I have noticed a number of new hires that do not speak fluent English. How do I know? I just "try" to talk to them. Beyond that, the orders are now coming out wrong. This morning, the latest rash of problems, my wife ordered a Bacon & Egg bicuit (No cheese), gravy biscuits, two sweet teas, & two hashbrowns. The order on the receipt is correct. However, the tea was nto ready at the window so my wife pulled forward to wait. She checked the bag, no hashbrowns, she told the person who brought out the tea and received her hashbrowns. She gets home and the biscuit contains bacon & Cheese (No EGG!) The order is right on the receipt. Your company has hired employees who are incapable of communicating and doing their jobs appropriately. That being said, this will be our last trip to McDonalds. I can and will spend my money elsewhere.
You don't have to worry. It won't be long before corporate executives are working for McDonands. At the rate we are losing companies to China and more jobs going overseas, McDonalds jobs will be in high demand.

So no one who has not worked fast food can make judgements about a fast food employee who fails to put meat on their hamburger?

Sorry, I may not have worked fast food, but I am the CUSTOMER. I am perfectly aware when someone screws up my order or gives me sub-standard customer service. So I will judge their job performance as I see fit, thank you very much.

BTW, I am not saying it is not a stressful job, but the bottom line is fast food restuarant employees have very little job responsibility. If your job has lots of responsibility, you will earn lots more money than a fast food employee makes. Responsibility = work stress for many folks.

Mentally challenging - maybe compared to high school, but not compared to many other jobs out there. When I think of mentally challenging jobs, I'm thinking along the lines of scientist, engineer, doctor, etc...

As for the physical demands, there are many jobs that are more physically demading.

But I somehow get the feeling the reply you got back was one of those generic canned letters, where they open up a Word Document and just fill in the blanks with your name and location as needed.

Besides, if you really want some results, go get the King. He'll take care of business.

Plus Chik-Fil-A is closed on Sundays, lol

Still awaiting a White Castle to open up.............
I'm from NYC and I'm always in NC and this has crossed my mine so many times.

Check out Char-Grill for good burgers too. At Char-Grill you write your order on an order sheet and pass it through a little slot in the windows. No talking to anyone until you pay for your order, and I've never had anything messed up there.

I love Cookout. I'm sorry we didnt get a chance to meet over the Memorial day weekend. The next time I'm headed down I will shoot you a pm. Do you ride quads or motorcycles?

I did. Why? Because I spent 2 years in High School filling orders at a restaurant. I didn't make mistakes, especially like that. Why/ I can read and speak English. You put so much emphasis that your job at Wendy's is so hard, You better stay there until you finish your College Degree, b/c it doesn't get easier.

Years ago at McDonalds, I was waiting for food. The restaurant was backed up. I struck up a conversation with an employee about it (They had a nametag, I didnt read it) After a short conversation about my work history (Somehow we got on that subject), the guy offered me a job to be a manager. I know McDonalds is quick on the hire button then and they do not mind a high turnaround rate.

FYI, read my "Follow Up" post about how they said it has become a recurring problem at that particular store before you start spewing off crap just because you think your 2 years at Wendy's makes you qualified to do so.

X2 on the Five Guys. They are pretty good. Another place I like is Johnny Rockets, I had it in Mexico and it was not that good, but I tried it again here in the states at the local mall and it was really good, I even like the 50's theme. They have the Route 66 burger and it is awsome!!. I really don't eat much fast food, I prefer our local delis myself, but Five Guys and Johnny Rockets are my choice.
