Because their politics and stance on the issues were well documented over long careers of political activism, and participation on the national stage. They weren't politically ambiguous enough to be able to say "Change" and have the people project their ideas and beliefs onto them. I think anybody, that had not previously shown their hand in politics (I'm talking about his lack of experience, and his refusal to vote on tough issues in the Senate.), would have stood a good chance of winning this past election... With a little charisma. Which Obama has in spades. He was in the right place at the right time.

The job of POTUS has an OJT aspect to it. Let's see if he is up to the task. I won't be upset if he is, and proves my distress in his election to be misplaced. I do predict that, if he isn't, the press will be much kinder to him than they have been with Bush... Who isn't nearly the bumbling idiot he's been portrayed to be.

Yeah Obama can hopefully make sound decisions himself without the puppet master **** Cheney pulling the strings like with Bush then again that might be a bad thing?

Well, that's point one for Bush being smarter than Obama. Who did Obama pick to be VP, with all the choices he could have made?

So another way to say that would be... Because the other black candidates weren't qualified to be President.

Obama happens to be qualified to be President. That's why he got elected.

I can't even believe I'm arguing this.

Smarter or a mindless puppet with his own personal agenda?

I haven't been paying too much attention but since some of these people are still bitter and angry at Bush have they started bringing up that he "stole" the election yet? They're bringing back all the other liberal crying points.

Nah I am mostly upset about his personal Vendetta in IRAQ for his daddy. Lots of lives lost on both sides all over a personal vendetta imho.

Anyway this threads not about BUSH so I am bowing out.

Carry on

No, Obama is merely better qualified than Jackson who's best attribute was making up new words such as my example that drew could not figure out. Obama however was not better qualified than his opponent; any of them.

Kinda but not really

You've been asking the SOB for years to get rid of the damned hives growing all over his property, and he just won't do it. He even goes so far as tell you to kiss his ***.
The middle east is not our neighbor. They are only important because they have a resource we depend on. I don't depend on my neighbor for anything of the sort. The idea behind the "camp" analogy is that the bees are from the forest which is not actually governed by any local authority. This leads to your second piece.

Now you go to the cops and the HOA, and they tell you they're not going to do anything about it, and would prefer it if you didn't either, though they commiserate. You don't want your kids having to fear bees every time they step out the back door, so you go to said neighbor's, and take care of the little bastards yourself... And to hell with who doesn't like it.
All beit I wouldn't want to live in fear, I am not about to hop on a boat and head across the pond to kick some one's a$$.

Now lets say that your wife, who you've been on shaky ground with lately, decides she's embarrassed because the neighbors don't like the way you've handled the situation and starts trash talking you in public. This emboldens everyone against you, and even your kids are split and arguing on the issue.

Finally, she kicks you out and gets some guy to take your place. Someone who has promised to get along with the neighbors better. Now all you can do is watch your hard work squandered, and worry about what's going to happen to your kids.

That analogy could be expanded even further, I guess, but that should be enough to show the flaw in yours.
And thats just it, I didn't involve any other parties. I kept it simple. I believe that the intentions were good, however the thought process was not. I have no problem pulling the trigger. I do have a problem with the logic and that is what I attempted to convey in the initial analogy. Odin my friend, I am thinking you went off the deep end on this one.
