Well, I do have one of the very best retirements in the US of A---the Ohio State TEachers' Retirement Fund is one of the best around---so I guess I am ready on that end...

AS for entitlement,where do you draw the line? When I was in HS, my one English Teacher flew B-17's during WWII; one of my gym teachers was a USMC Master Sergeant; the other gym teacher was a Lt. in the USMC. My father served in the military during the Korean Cnoflict---and all of them benefited from the GI Bill--paid for by our US of A tax dollars. Do they need to give up their education or pay that back---or were they entitled to it---even though it was from tax dollars? I taught with a man who just retired---USMC---Vietnam---GI Bill. Entitled, or not?

As for retirement issue again, my father was very careful to work two jobs---he too was a teacher and part of the OTRS; he also was very careful to earn enough quarters in SS so that he could use both systems, as he worked and earned in both. A man named Ronald Reagan said that, even though he was a full contributor to SS, he could not collect full benefits...ah yes, the gov't giveth; the gov't taketh away...

I have a pretty good retirement set up.
I pooled resources with two other goat herders and we've got 67 dollars buried in a coffee can.

I say it's a good retirement because I'm the oldest and will retire first.
I promised the other two that I would leave something in the can for them.

I have planned for my retirement; with my retirement from the STRS and my IRa's, I will actually be taking home more in my first year of retirement than I will in my last year teaching...so, I do not in anyway expect you to susidize my retirement...

So where does the "Gimme!" come in for me?

no I do not know your financial situation or your specific gimmie, if you even have one, i am saying I would like to know why I should subsidize anybody's health care or retirement. I never said YOU were a free spending leach, so then tell me why on gods green earth would you vote in a socialist like obama mama, why would you volunteer to give over more of your peice of pie that you worked and slaved for, spent time away from your family for, to someone who plays around and does not plan for their future, always just sliding by with their little barefoot spawn, not my sperm not my problem, I have plenty of my own problems and I don't go crying to my uncle Sam for a bail out, I am 31 I own free and clear two houses that I rent out, I live in a third I bought 8 years ago on a thirty year note and I only have 10 years left on the pmts, my wifey drives a 04 focus that I paid off over a year ago I drive my 99 f150 and now I have the 97 sentra all paid for and 2 years ago I bought my mom a 04 KIA paid for because her car was breaking constantly and I got tired of working on it

basically I have no debt load other than the mortgage on my primary residence

I have never filed a tax return with a higher agi than $75000
and that is joint with my wife


oh yea I got laid off from my "real job" in december and havent worked a"real job" since

collected no unemployment
no food stamps
no welfare of any type

I always plan, I do not live beyond my means in fact I actually only live to about 70% of my means, so 30% has gone into personal investments since I was 18. why then should I give ANYTHING to someone that does less than I do to plan their future.

I'm fine with that. It will cut back on the real problem with welfare and other social programs funded by tax payers... Abuse.



Corporations don't pay taxes anyway. It's factored into their business plan and is passed on to the customer.



High medical prices? I'm not even thinking about tackling that one.




Stupid for voting for Bush? That's assuming the alternatives were better. We'll never know that for sure; so, Monday Morning quarterback all you want. Look how both of the jokers he beat have become irrelevent in just the 8 short years of GW's term. An upstart Senator with no experience, and a message of unspeciffic CHANGE, has taken the nomination; and, they weren't even in the picture during the primaries.

Part of me hopes Obama does win; so, I can spend the next 4 years laughing at the people that supported him... Well, I don't know about that. There will probably be plenty of things happening that aren't very funny. If he does win, then that's what we have to work with. After all... We survived Clinton and Carter.
