Having a hard time getting motivated today.

The home office in Nashville is closing at 2:00 for the 4th of July weekend.....

The branch office in Houston might close much earlier.....

The headgasket in a bottle fix is still working, 1250 miles on it so far and coolant is still perfect, oil cap clean and oil looks great. It runs like a new one. Only way i would recommend the stuff is if its on a vehicle that the value isn't worth the repair cost. I was reading a few reviews and some people have 50 to 75k miles on the stuff and no coolant loss yet. Seem's pretty promising.

I went through that last year with my 90lb. Chow. People were shooting off stuff that isn't even borderline legal in my state for about a whole month. We would hear a boom, then the screen door would get ripped off and we would be facing 90 lbs of totally freaked out dog....it wasn't fun. I probably made about 15 calls to the police.

It has been much quieter this year. Plus having her doped up I think made it easier for her to process the noise, haven't had to drug her this year at all. But you can bet your azz she will be high when the "real" firework shows start.

Just don't make a big deal when your dog gets freaked out from the noise, that just reinforces that the noise is something to be afraid of.

Thanks. As soon as it starts thundering or people start lighting stuff off I bring him inside and try to continue what I'm doing so he knows it's not a big deal but He'll just seize up and start shaking uncontrollably. I hate to see him that miserable.

I gave him 1 of the pills last night and there are fireworks going off like crazy tonight and it hasn't phased him one bit, he's been passed out on the couch through it all. I'm hoping that it "cured" him and I don't have to Drug him up all the time. He's weird enough without the drugs

 

Our dog was the same way with gun shots, fireworks, thunderstorms etc. She passed away earlier this year after a night thunder storm, Started storming and she came in the room and laid down shaking and panting. She woke us up a few hours later and it was bad. She was in a daze, had no clue who we were, throwing up and peeing uncontrollably. I took her into the other room and started to get dressed to go to the 24 hour vet, went in and she was dead. I really think she had a heart attack or something along those lines just from the nerves of the Storm. Thank goodness our other 2 dogs dont care about loud noises.

 

My chocolate lab was like that, scared to death of thunder and fireworks. A 70lb lab is not a lap dog but she would be one when a storm came thru or fireworks were popping. The fix, turn the stereo on loud and turn up the bass. She could sleep thru a hurricane or a bombing like that. Might give it a try.

 

I've tried the stereo/tv thing with out much luck, but didn't adjust the bass. That is a very good point to crank the bass up, you could probably condition them over time by doing that on a semi-regular schedule.

On another note, out here in hippie-dippie California they had a segment on T.V. that pot helped to calm the dog during fireworks/thunder storms. I just can't picture how you can get the dog to take a Bong hit. Plus a possible side affect might be that the dog eats your face off because of the "munchies"...........Leave it to Cali to come up with this crap, man-o-man I love and HATE this place!

 

Hired a guy to mow the yard a couple weeks ago and got him back over today got about half done and noticed I didn't hear the mower or anything running. Went out to the front yard and he had 3 of the neighbors outside quoting them prices

Everyone is tired of mowing around here with all the rain and looking to hire people.
