So mom's boyfriends work truck dropped a wheel today, bearing failure.....and they're planning on fixing it. Looking for used parts, since new parts is 1500 bucks.......When are they going to scrap that bastard.
Had a good day of "hooky" yesterday for the boy's birthday -- the weather was perfect to be down on the water in Kemah! Saturday is looking pretty full already with the normal errands we have on the weekend.
I'd really like to get down to my local dealer and test drive the new Escape, Fusion and Taurus to see which vehicle makes the most sense as a replacement for my wife's '05 Escape. We're at the point with the Escape where it needs some work (brakes, tires and possibly an oil pan?) and I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth putting all that work into it and then only run it for another year or so anyways. I'll look into the cost of doing the oil pan this week and I think that will end up being the deciding factor as to whether we run it another 12-18 months or make the leap into a new vehicle in the next month or so......
Perfect day at Grand Isle yesterday...temp in the mid 70's and sunny. Crew was working at the camp taking out the existing flooring and the roofing crew showed up to change out the screws holding down the metal roof...one thing about the roofing crew from Honduras is they aren't scared to work. Camp has to be ready by Good Friday for the annual crawfish boil. As soon as I got back we left to go eat at Blackie's in Lockport and had a bowl of shrimp and crab meat gumbo!
Since I didn't want to get in the workers way at the camp taking pictures I did manage to go out to Elmers Island beach and give the 4x4 system a workout....lots of snowbirds down for the winter on Grand Isle and adjoining Elmers Isle. Talked to a few from Minnesota that have been coming down for the last few years...they said it was a lot better yesterday then the -12 back up North!!
Beach at eastern tip of Grand Isle
Fellow on the left had just hooked a 20lb redfish.
One of the snowbirds dually's that pulls a 5th wheel all the way down from Minnesota.
No trouble on the hard packed sand.
Took this pic from my truck of this shrimp trawler..not too many out yesterday.
