Are they claiming faulty materials?

Yes -- of course, the reason their house burnt down couldn't possibly be because the house got struck by lightning.....lol

Has anyone else been using the new Shell Premium Nitro+ that came out early last month??

I finally filled up the truck and have noticed about 3.5 to 4 mpg better. It stayed at 22.5mpg for the first 60 or so miles and has leveled out to 21. Thing is this is all in town driving also.

I track my fuel use religiously on both my '09 Ranger and my '97 Cavalier, including dates, brand of fuel, place of purchase, miles per tank and average MPG. In over six years of documentation I have never noticed any consistent difference in my fuel economy that could be directly correlated to the brand of gasoline. Keep in mind that I only purchase Top Tier fuel, so whether a more noticeable difference would show-up with "off brand" gasoline, who knows?

The biggest factor I notice in my data is the type of driving -- everything else seems to be a wash.

I track mine as well and on my 2005, I found that I consistently got lower averages when I used Exxon. I use Chevron, Texaco, Shell and occasionally, Conoco.

how right you are there....a simple speed reduction of 10-12 mph and more careful speed maintenance seems to net me at least 5 extra mpg

I use to run Shell 91 up until about a year ago and shell went to stripes brand gas, It was close to the house and thats when i was getting the best fuel mileage. After it switched brands i wasn't going to drive 15 miles to the other Shell and started using Exxon and Chevron.. When running shell is when i got the best fuel mileage, switching to exxon i lost around 1.5 mpg.. Chevron was about 1 mpg.

I have read several times these Eb's are sensitive to the type of gas used, and after using shell again and gaining what i have i believe it.

Was going to do a little test with the Cavalier but it would probably blow up if i put supreme in it

Guess i should state this new gas i am talking about is only with Supreme.. Where as regular and midgrade doesnt have the additive's that the supreme does.

Well MawMaw got the car she wanted last night...Infiniti QX-60 like the picture but in White. More room then the Caddy SRX had and we ended up selling the Caddy at the last minute so we came out a little better. Car rides great but a little lacking for power with the CVT transmission. She still works so this car may have to last awhile.

I put about 1/2 tank to top off last week and can't really tell yet. Probably a few more fill ups. I had 93 Valero in it before.

Seems like a somewhat unusual choice for a "seasoned citizen" -- I would pick the "wheelhouse" buyer of that vehicle to be a 40-year-old suburban mom with 2.5 kids! I've never sat in one, but they look nice from the outside!
