Some are legit unfortunate folks though. I do see folks begging far more often than not that were I an gambling man, I'd bet they're crooks making huge amounts of money they don't need. Scammers are all over, I can pretty much tell when I see them and I go on by. and unfortunately, it does seem to be most....like the ones I see with signs "travelling alone, no money". If legit, you're an idiot for travelling while broke anyhow but that's a common scam in our capital.

But a few of them are good people who for one reason or another end up in need. I can't count the times I've seen someone on the side of the road or approaching my truck and drove on. But today my gut just told me this guy was one of those few and I felt bad for him and wished I could help him.

I thought you blew up the V10 F250?

Now I know why you like the EB so much, killed the V10, killed the expy, and you figured with only 6 cylinders statistically you have less cylinders to blow up

Back in the 70's I was on vacation I had a wino come up to me outside a Sambo's restaurant (back when they could call an establishment something like that) and said "look I'm not going to B S you. I'm about a dollar fifty away from making my bottle for the night." I told him I admired his honesty and gave him 2 bucks!

Had a pretty good thunderstorm blow through Athens last evening. Rain was torrential for about 45 minutes and lost electricity for an hour and a half. Another round coming this afternoon. Thankfully, no hail.

You're right, I exaggerated. It was only about 3/4 throttle up to 85 mph. That's all it took to blow the EBs in the weeds.

Yeah -- I remember the first time I was ever in the South (Georgia circa early-90's) and saw those "Sambo" restaurants and was absolutely astonished that they could name a chain that! I haven't seen one in awhile, although my travels rarely take me to GA any longer, so who knows if they are still around or not.....

Yeah -- flying into Houston yesterday afternoon was rough! Had a long delay getting clearance to take-off out of Columbus and coming down through the clouds was like being on a carnival ride! I thought the kid next to me was going to crap his pants -- I guess I've been on so many planes over the last 25 years that I'm oblivious to it anymore.....

I had forgotten about the Sambo chain. As I recall, sort of like an IHOP.

Sambo's was started by Sam Battistone who originally owned the New Orleans Jazz basketball team and later moved them to Utah. Sam was the "Sam" in Sambo and his co-owner was a guy named Bohnett and he was the "Bo"....I guess people thought that was racist and the business went downhill. By the way it started in California where apparently racism was running rampant at the time!!

Over 3 inches of rain in about 2 hrs Wednesday flooded the backyards. 2 breeches in a small levee let in a lot of water from a ditch that drains the pasture....we need to get the gaps filled in as soon as the rain stops for awhile.

Apparently Mr. Battistone needed help with naming things -- between calling a restaurant "Sambo's" and a basketball team in Utah the "Jazz", this guy was a real idiot......

Makes me wonder what he might have named his kids.....

Since they've been building new houses back here the last two years this is the most water I've seen in the 7 yrs we've been living here. I think it can be fixed easily with some heavy dirt and a front end loader. I'm right at sea level but my house is off the ground about 6 ft above the crown of the street. We had a little girl drown in a drainage ditch Wednesday about 2 miles from here.
