Ya know something Doc Francis...I've followed your posts through a bunch of different threads, and most of the time, you make sense. But your posts in this thread have got to be the most ignorant statements on the whole forum.

Not everybody has the time, skills, or place to do all these things to a vehicle.

Not everybody makes their living in a garage. I would be willing to bet that Bill Gates couldnt tell you the difference between a distributor cap and a framerail, but if he wants a piece of American history restored, by God, he has just as much right as the rest of us. If everybody had the knowledge, time, and place to work on their own ride, there wouldnt be an automotive shop anywhere.

Nobody has ruined the hobby for the little guy. You cant afford to spend $65 an hour to have a full-body restore on your 69 Camaro...boo friggin hoo. Its not their fault you pissed away your lifes earnings and are now left to work on your own projects.

Stinking backgammon playing fruitcakes don't need to be driving a man's car anyway they need to get their sorry asses down to the Toyota dealer and pick up a Camry.
Do you have any idea how much time it takes to fully frame-off a car? A low-ball estimate would be 1000 hours. Multiply that by $65-$75 dollars an hour for a shop to do the work. Thats $65-$75,000 just for labor!! Not counting parts and materials. Thats why people are asking high dollar figures for these cars. Its not because they greedy or trying to screw you, its because thats simply what it costs.

I can assure you sir, you come kickin on my $85K car and the gators and rats in the river swamps of Northwest Florida will eat good that night.

I'm out.

I own a classic car and I love that prices keep going up.

Guess what? Just means my car is going to be worth more when I want to boot it off to some "rich asshat"

How about Dr Franko posts some pictures of all of the restoration projects he's done?

Exactly how Boyd started out. Now you fault him for being successful at it?

Now the time has come for you to listen. I got my first Hot Rod when I was 15 and have had more than 20 since as personal cars and more as a dealer. Every one of my cars was driven and enjoyed. That’s right I didn’t have a single trailer queen that gets carted from show to show like a metallic casket. Many of my cars got inexpensive paint jobs that still looked damn good and every one of them sold. But you listen to these dumbass paint snobs and you’d think $5,000 was a cheap paint job.

Oh yes then we have the number freaks, all the numbers must match, so the ghey judges can get their rocks off. Most of the buyers are so stupid they don’t realize the tremendous amount of fraud going on. Restamping is rampant and all these old cars suddenly have actual miles under 100k.

I could afford to buy an expensive muscle car today but I owned them back in the late 70s and all through the 80s when people actually drove them. The hobby is gone to hell now and is a ridiculous pastime for people with money. The cars are rarely driven or sit in collections or museums as now they are “investments”. I guess maybe that’s why nearly every kid wants a rice burner.

A lot of people start with noble intentions but still end up selling out and becoming jackasses

franko, may I suggest....

This man was someone's father, someone's husband, brother.

The man was living the American dream. Now, let him rest in peace.

You really arent very bright are you? How has some random predatory animal not swooped down and picked you off by now?

Neither of us are resenting anyone from living the American dream. If anyone is, its you. I personally havent lived long enough to fulfil all my dreams, but rest assured, they're on their way.

Congrats on your numerous vehicles. Truely, I applaud you. You worked hard to have them, you enjoyed them the way YOU saw fit, and now you're moving on. Now its time for you to let everyone else enjoy their cars the way they see fit and for you not to worry about it. Quit gettin all butt-hurt because someone enjoys looking at their car more than flogging it on the road or risking screwing up an investment by gettin t-boned pulling out of the local drive-thru. I dont blame them at all.

I have redone some cars but didn't bother with getting pictures of most. And hell no they were not magazine feature material. Just decent muscle cars for people who want one to drive. I can say that I have given some a new lease on life or at least extended their lives.

I have painted one or two but no most were done by inexpensive production shops. The point was that some of these people don't do any work on their own cars and just throw a load of money at a car and then act like it's a great accomplishment.

It's not just Boyd I'm ripping on its the whole elitist big money crowd who think they are better than the rest of us.
