This was my first truck, got it when I was 14. I paid for all the mod's with the money I made mowing Old Lady Henderson's yard. My parents didn't pay for a nickel of it.

Well im not in high school! I'm 36, have been married for 14 yrs, have 2 kids and just last month bought my first real truck! It has taken this damn long to be able to afford a hefty payment on a nice truck and still have a nice ride for the wife and kids. Oh and a nice house for all of us to live in. I didnt get to live at home and work to build my credit with parents. My parents split when i was 3 months old, and i lived with my grandparents that raised 4 kids and 2 grandkids on 1 income only. When i was 17 in high school i was working a full time 2nd shift job paying 200/mo. to help out up until i was 20. Then I met my wife and we moved in together. Got married at 22 and had first kid at 24. so its taken a while to get to where im at. All us older folk here are saying is that when you are in HS and livimg at home with parents that are willing to do for you, then appreciate it! When you get out here in the real world its not as easy as you think unless mom and dad still helps out!

You are both young, and ignorant. I can't understand a majority of what was actually typed, but if you think you're going to design, build, buy, remodel, and sell all on your own, you've never stepped foot inside a jobsite. Just as a carpenter, there's always something to learn. Guys do this for 30 years, and still learn somthing new. Add on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc, and you've got yourself a lifetime of learning before you START a project. "Also how my own construction crew so i will be a one man band.." WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!?!?!?! You can't own your own, since you're not in college, and you can't BE your own, since you obviously know nothing about the construction trades. If you reply to my posts, don't agree with a dang thing unless you can intelligently provide somthing for it.

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!

I really just don't get it. Seems the trend is that most SAY they paid for half the truck and all the mods (monkey see, monkey do if you ask me). That may be true, but I bet most of you that say they paid half their trucks took money out of their accounts that was filled by their parents in the first place.
I'm 32 years old and just bought a used '05 F150 FX4. I am a college graduate and a professional. Yes, I did make decent money in high school to afford a nicer truck than I had, but I saved some for college and saved a lot in a Money Market account. Guess what, I still have money in that money market account.
Maybe I'm just jealous that I never had a nicer truck than some of you 16 yr. olds. I'm not saying this is true in all the previous cases, but some of you will never learn about life and you'll probably end up hooked on drugs by the time you're 22 yrs. old (I hope you don't). I know, I had two friends that where handed everything in life and I couldn't tell you where they were at today.
I just want you kids to realize the value of a dollar and you need to start looking ahead to the future even at 16 yrs. old.

I do not think I am going to do any of it. I AM GOING TO DO. First off never judge anybody on the internet. Second off just because I am young and so called ignorant probably by someone much older than me that is jealous of what I am GING to do. I said it and I will do it. I will have the construction company that will dram you up the building you want and then build it. I would be the lead man that designs the buildings. Also fighting with someone on a PUBLIC forum that is free is dumb. I am probably worked harder than you have your whole life and yes I have been on a construcution job field and if you are a quick learner you could learn the whole trade of construction in a few sort years. I few people I work with were former construction workers and have picked up a lot of info and are still young as in under 25 and know quite a bit. Stick to your fast food job and your insecure comments!

this thread is like playing with fire.

check my sig.

didnt pay for it at all. my parents got it for me.

and i personally think that just because i got it bought for me, doesnt mean i dont appreciate the value of a dollar, or that because my parents bought it i will go off and do drugs or drink.

never touched drugs, never drank. i appreciate the value of a dollar, any money i have to spend is all from earning it. but i dont make enough to pay for my truck. so they pay for it.

I try to be a good kid, and they treat me like a good kid. If i dont abuse it, i have a nice truck for the week and weekends. Abuse it, no truck. Never been down that road before, and wont ever go down it.

I have respect for the kids who treat their trucks with good care. I just hate the fact that some kids are like mom and dad bought it for me I can trash it and get a new one. As that is what happens 90% of the time.

my parents bought mine. but i did put down the down payment and im paying 100 per month as far as the payments so they just didnt give it away to me as a freebie.

i keep mine spotless and my friends give me a hard time about it all the time bc im a complete neat freak when it comes to my truck. everything has to be perfect. i just washed my truck on saturday and since its getting warmer here i plan to wash it every weekend by myself. I wash my brothers car and my parents all the time. i keep them looking good and shining all the time. i dont trash it at all. i miss all the pot holes all the time. And if i forget to miss one it honestly hurts in my body i have no idea why haha. this has been my dream truck for over 2 years and i would like to keep it as long as i can. and im extremely happy about the way i treat it and the way it looks and the fact that i have it so thats all that matters
