$600, you'll have an interesting looking lift unless you about 10g to add to that.

I'm 19, and I'm getting a 8" lift and 37" tires, but Mommy and Daddy don't pay for anything to do with my truck...I have to work my *** off every day all day. Lucky I have a good job and get lots of overtime.

I had no idea there were so many teenagers here!

Where the hell do you guys get that kind of money? I mean, even working 40 hours a week at a job where you can get $10 an hour can't pay for the kind of stuff you guys are doing!

I thought I was lucky just to get this!

except my was a gold color :lol

Junior in HS, getting 30 hrs a week at $6.75/hr (fla min wage) and I'm getting this for free once I get my high school diploma:

of course by then it will have a billet grille, chrome bumper, L style headlamps, LED brake lights to match the LED strip under the tailgate, strobe kit, possibly a PA system, a better CB setup, chrome bar running boards, and a matching white fiberglass tonneau cover with a wing and 4th brakelight I pay for insurance, gas, and all mods

please whatever you do, don't put a wing on a truck. That's domesticated rice. The rest of it sounds good, throw on a 3" Body lift, or hell the fabtech 7.5" lift w/ 35's and gears and you'd have a solid truck.

Totally agree about the wing. Only mexican's do that (no offense to my buddies from south of the boarder ).

At $7/hr he'd have to work a whole year and barely spend a dime to get the lift, tires and gears installed!! My 285/65/20 TA/KO's run about $1200, then you'd have to get some new wheels so they'd fit, another ~$500 if you go el cheapo, plus say, $200 for mounting, alignment, etc. Gears about a grand, plus at least $500 to install. Lift ~$1500 plus $500 install (would be a steal). Let's not forget sales tax!

So that's almost $6k right there. Now, say he averages 20 miles a day (probably more than that in reality), that's 150 miles a week. At $3 a gallon, and 15 MPG thats $30 week or $1560 a year. He says he pays for insurance, and at 16, or 17 that's going to be at least 500 a year. Now we're up to $8k.

Now we haven't even considered any other mods he's planning on buying, or any other money he may spend on going out, food, etc. At $6.75, 30hrs a week, 50 weeks a year (I assume he takes a day off here and there) that's only $10k before taxes. Yes, I realize that taxes aren't much on only 10k, but still.

But after going thru this exercise, I guess I can see how you kids can drop 10k into your trucks in a year. Enjoy it while you can, cuz car payments, rent, bills, taxes, food, etc really takes a bite out of your spending budget!

you've just got to know where to shop and how much to spend. I was going to lift my 2wd on 38's for about 3k. That's with gearing and everything, but I researched what and where to buy, and I was planning on doing *everything* short of gears install, myself. That probably won't happen anymore given that the truck is probably totaled now from a few weeks back.

He can get the fabtech lift for about a grand, tires anywhere from 300-1200 depending on brand, how big, and whether or not they're used (look on FTW, there are plenty of 35s for sale there), gearing would be just short of another grand. If you do the install yourself (which you should imo, learn something about the truck and save some cash) you're looking at 3 grand tops for that. Insurance and gas are another story, just budget everything in and you will eventually get it.

I think the main problem lies in the job you have. Find something that pays better than minimum wage man. Work in a resturaunt, do landscaping, something that pays worth a damn. I worked on my parents' farm last summer and made about 5k, paid for insurance, school, the lift, gas, beer, pot, everything, but it was hard damn work. 12 hours of manual labor in the hot sun all day, but it was well worth it.

p.s. I'm more than likely going to sell all of my 2wd lift stuff, unused still in box, so if anyone is interested let me know. Fabtech 7.5" lift and a 2" coil spacer as well as some seats and a center console. Once I know for sure the insurance is totaling my f150, I'll put it all up in the classifieds.
