Ford Needs to Do something

If anybody is watching TV, it seems that this new Toyota is trying to steal some marketshare. I just watched the 0 - 60 - 0 commercial and it seemed like the ol F150 was one of the worst. Even behind the GMC. I have always driven a Ford and I hope that Ford has something up there sleeve to fight back against the other companies. I love my truck and wouldnt give it up unless its another F150. Any thoughts on this or is this just a lost cause.

It's a lost cause.

I really hope the next generation 150 will step up. There’s some good rumors out there. But will just have to wait and see what comes out. Not to knock on Ford, but I like the Toyota commercials. But, still like my 150 better

Not to flame you but, DUH! What do you think the new Tundra is all about? Toyo is stepping up their game to try and take a bigger piece of the pie.

I love your choice of words, Toyota is 'trying' and thats all it ended up being, look at the Tundra sale numbers; not very good for their badass super truck!!

Don't get me wrong, I really like my 06' F-150 4x4 supercab with the 5.4 and 3.73 rearend.. It is not fast though, and I didn't buy it to be a "fast" daily driver. Long story short, my girlfriend was driving my 07' Chevrolet 1500 Z71 with the 5.3.. I got the jump off the line since the chevrolet was just spinning, but it didn't take long before she was ahead by about 3 truck lengths. She then let off of it completely. The chevy only has about 120 miles on it, so it is not broken in yet. I really like my Ford, and I don't care if it is fast or not since that is not the reason why I got it. I am sure Ford will eventually get the horsepower levels up on the F-150. I am fine with the power it has now, because I RARELY pull a small trailer anymore. If I pulled a lot of stuff, I wouldn't be driving a gas truck anyways.

I see you are in Lenexa.. Would you be interested in an Undercover hard tonneau cover? Or know anyone that is looking for one? I don't want to mess with trying to ship mine...

I just read one of their ads in a magazine. They said "Fully boxed frame. That's how some half-tons do it." Then they went on saying that they use 3 types of frame - fully boxed, open and reinforced. This is supposed to be the optimal configuration for "strength, ride quality and durability." Pshaw, I say it is the optimal configuration to increase your bottom line profit margin. You can tell they are going after every point raised on the Truth About Trucks site. Just another pathetic marketing ploy.

I just hope the new truck will be a little more edgy. The new GM truck and Tundra do look good, but ill never buy GM and NEVER NEVER buy a Toyota. I guess if you think about it, the people that buy trucks are usually brand sided I think. Its the rest that will sway. Or dodge owners.

That commercial where the guy is going down that big see-saw and hits the brakes is so stupid (is that a Toy or a Nissan btw)...The damn trailer has its own brakes. A Pontiac G6 could stop the trailer as long as it could stop itself and had a controller hooked up.

Yeah ok.... so it goes 0-60 faster... so what? Put a F-450 against it and it will loose too... but it will tow more than twice any half ton. Big friggen deal it goes fast.

I think the future F-150 will be a really nice truck. I really like the 04+ F-150's right now, and they only need a "few" improvements in my mind that would make them the perfect truck.

I came from a Ram with the hemi so believe me, the 3V 5.4 is taking some "getting used to." At least I got the 3.73's so off the line it pulls similar to the Ram did with its 3.55's. As I found with the Ram though, having a faster truck isn't everythng. The F-150, even with the 5.4, has always been slower than the Ram with the hemi and GM trucks with the 5.3's. Sales numbers never really suffered though because like I said, there's more to a truck than its unloaded 0-60 time.

Hopefully this new "hurricane" engine will get the F-150 back in step, but come on....it's a truck.

As far as the Tundra goes, I think it truly is a threat. I was reading that the factory can't keep up with demand, and that the 5.7 liter is in much higher demand itself than they had thought. The same article said that Toyota dealerships were innundated with domestic truck trade-ins. Personally I think the Tundra is a real player here, though be it ugly (especially the interior). Nissan messed up with the Titan because they made it too "weird" looking with barely any towing/hauling capacity. I think the new Tundra is poised to do much better than the Titan. Just the fact that they don't have to take $6,000+ off the sticker to move them off the lots as quick as they come in says a lot.

Hopefully this new "BOSS" engine will get the F-150 back in step, but come on....it's a truck.

fixed it for you.

and people lets not start another stupid argument over the tundra, the tundra will be a merely dust in the rear view mirror in 2009, kinda like it is in the sales... 177,000 to 29,000 LOL.

Next truck I buy is going to be based on build quality. I have had this F150 in the shop so many times and it is already loosening up and rattling at 24000 miles. Sounds like I am in company here too. My engine sounds like a diesel and I know that when I bring it in they are going to tell me to go blow myself. This truck is a turd.

Ford you have better get your quality up to snuff or you lost a very loyal customer from a hard core Ford family. I have had it!
