Many people believe that this would not have happened if college kids could carry concealed weapons...I do not know of a college/university that allows it, and with good reason, too. Please consider how much alcohol /binge drinking takes place on campuses; also how many students may be "chemically enhanced?" How would one guarantee that one of these people would take action while inebriated? Please also consider the difficulties of securing a firearm in a dorm room; how often are dorm rooms unfortunately left unlocked? Thefts (petty) on college campuses is not unusual, and now we are letting fire arms into the mix? To those of you who have gone to college---think back to how many idiots you knew that would be not just idiots, but extremely dangerous idiots with a fire arm if concealed weapons were allowed.

Before you flame me, please also keep in mind that I hunt; I own several handguns and shotguns, as well as a few rifles. I have ejoyed hunting a going to the range; but I feel that allowing students to have carry fire arms may cause worse problems.

I pray for the families of those killed and wounded, as well as for the VaTech family as well.

It's also illegal to kill people,,,the school is in Blacksburg VA and I know good folks from there and some who went to school there, the laws that we need are the ones that let law abiding folks defend themselves and those around them. There will come a day when me or you or someone close to us has to depend on others to save us, I just hope there is someone near who had the good sense to get a permit and carry. It's a deadly shame someone didn't have a way to stop this madman. I'll agree ,we need gun laws alright but I don't think it's less that we need but more.

Laws are supposed to deter crime, not make it more difficult for those who never had any intention to do harm. Look up the gun laws in Canada and youll see exactly how it shouldnt be done.

Get the scum off the streets, lock them up. None of this tv in jail crap either. Put everyone on work details and feed them crap. See how many want to boost thier street cred or be remembered.

I am chiming in late I know. I find it is always easy to criticize the authority figures, hell, that's how this country was founded. Just let's not forget about the main issue here, there are going to be LOTS of grieving people out there that need to be comforted, not to mention the students. I just hope the media doesn't make a circus out of this like they have been every other "big news" story lately, and just stick to the facts, but what are the odds of that happening.

The Cleveland media has been, unfortunately, in a feeding frenzy mode all day long. The talk show people here on the "North Coast" have had an orgiastic attidue toward it all. How sad, as they are forgetting the overwhelming grief that has enveloped VaTech and its families.

We all have choices to do good or to do evil, I can't sit here and let you dis the GOD of the universe. He could intervene every time someone choses evil but then that would defeat the whole choice thing now wouldn't it. GOD didn't do this but the scum who did will stand before him and answer for his choice and that is why hell has enlarged itself,to accommodate evildoers. How would ya'll like for GOD to stop you every time you bent the rules.

OK, I understand your religious stand as I am a Christian, but let's not get this thread running into the ranks of ban-dom because of arguing about it.

Lets face it a lot of people are morally lazy and intellectually dishonest. They choose to believe whatever offers them the least discomfort.

Unhappy

It's great to be an American, and I'm glad we're all free to discuss and disagree. I hope nobody was offended by my statement. There will always be sides to take but I believe we can all agree that some folks are really hurtin' tonight and my heart goes out to them.
