Just found out my girlfriend's brother's friend was killed at Tech yesterday. She was a freshman. I'm not much into religion, but if praying is your thing, please pray for these families.

Prayers for the victims, wounded, and their families have been going out from Missouri.

I didn't have any Virginia Tech colors to wear in to work today, but I invite anyone to copy my sig in remembrance.

man- what a world- one of my lifelong friends is a junior at VT, his best friend was hit in the arm, and another friend's head was grazed by a bullet- both have been released though...
its going to be a rough road for all effected in the near future with the list of names being released, and the President coming down to address the university as a whole.

Unhappy

Sensationalism in the media has helped to create an outlet for these cowards and some of us are guilty for popping channels and scanning the news for new up to date info. When the media starts to portray this COWARDLY behavior in its true light then maybe some will be ashamed instead of glorified for all time. How many times have we heard already that this is the WORST in history and it's been only 24 hrs. We'll never stop this type of stuff but let's stop glorifiing "Going out in a blaze of glory". As for me I'll teach my kids that this is what cowards and losers do and if you want attention go excel in something. If we had a media blackout for a week some folks would go insane. Folks we live in an era where info is abundant and these news outlets will talk for 4 hours and say the same thing over and over and there are people who won't even get up to go to the "john" for fear they'll miss something. What does HONOR mean in 2007????? GOD help us

Did you see the picture of that nice young kid in his band uniform?

They didn't do a damn thing except go to school and be productive and that A-hole kills them because they are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Jeezus what a sickening waste.

The sobering part for me is I work in a different school everyday, what if I end up in the wrong place at the wrong time? I dont carry at work becasue even if I concealed something, all it would take would be a slip and someone see a part of it. Then it would go into lock down, cause panic and lose my job and probably go to jail too. So if something goes down, then all I could do would be try to get as many of the kids, teachers and staff as I can to safety while trying to prevent being shot myself.

The differences are.
We have alot more people. Just for example: If you have 1 murder with a population of 1000, then you will have 2 murders with a populatin of 2000 etc etc etc.... we have about 670,494,469 in the world, so at 1 of 1000 then that would add to an expected 670,495 murders. Percentage wise there is less murder than there was the day when Cain killed Able.
Also now we have technology for media to cover it and inform us instantly as each one happens.
Morals grow at the same rate as everything else?. Cain had minimal morals with minimal population, civilization has developed to the point to where this type of action cannot be justified. IMO

Being a college student myself. This could happened at any campus. I am sure our campus will tighten up. But our campus police is pretty tight with the local pd. Believe me you can't get away with anything in Hattiesburg. Every cop is on a power ego trip. I am completely shocked at what happend at Vtech. My prayer and thoughts go out to the college of Virgina Tech.

The guy who did that was a complete psycho.
There is no ammount of guns and ammo in the world that can stop a psycho.

There isn't enough and never will be enough laws and restrictions that can stop a psycho. Blaming the issue on guns or lack thereof guns is plain ignorant. The guy was most likely going to commit suicide anyways... he just wanted to do it in a big way.

George Dubya wanting to bomb the entire Middle east because of what a 19 hijackers/psychos did is/was plain ignorant. "We'll Smoke em' out of their holes!" Give me a break. Nothing anyone can do will prevent people from doing stupid things.

Could things on the VT campus been done differently.. of course! Hind Sight is always 20/20. You have to live and learn. It usually takes a tragedy to get people to open their eyes.

this guy had a genetic flaw, plain and simple.

you can not rationalize this behavior because we are wired different, dont even try to figure it out.

no they cant. this isnt about a crime of passion or desire or a sexual crime, it is a mentally ill person living in his own world, the only thing that could have changed the out come would have been for his parents to have had him diagnosed and on medication or under the care of a doctor.

i can only say that he could have had a larger cal. gun or something like a mac 10 with multiple clips, the number could be in the 100's

When i first heard about this....I would like to call it a tragedy but it is much much worse then that. When i first heard I felt almost sick to my stomach. I had never had a feeling like that before in my life. Columbine happened and i was just a dumb high school kid thinking "sucks to be them". 9-11 happened and I felt bad for the people directly related to the incident and couldn't understand why people clear across the country started crying as they watched the news. I now understand why.

The part that always makes me upset, is why do these people go on such horrific rampages and be described by witnesses as being so calm and collected about slaughtering people. Then turn into such cowardly piece's of S that they take their own life instead of facing the justice that they deserve. They dont deserve to die. They deserve to be tied down and beaten with a garden house untill they die.

Myself and I'm hoping a couple of friends can come together and put on an all forums 4x4/import show here in the seattle area in a week or two to raise money for the families of those struck by this horrific incident.
