Well, we all know GM trucks come out the box faster than F-150's, and the Hemi versus the vortec was a coin toss red light to red light against the Chevy. Before the new Tundra, the Titan was the "hot rod" of full size, non-performance oriented pickup trucks (0 - 60 in 6.6 seconds). Hell, the Armada runs to 60 in 7.1 seconds, and it's heavier than most pickups. The old 4.7L Tundra was faster than the 4.8L Chevy, almost as swift as the 5.3L GM's, and faster than the 4.6 and 5.4L Fords. It should've come as no surprise that the 5.7L would be visably and obviously faster...
With a 0-60 speed of 6.1 seconds, those trucks are way quicker than a stock F-150, and only a few tenths behind a stock Lightning, they may even be faster (out the box) than the SC SuperCrew Harley's...
There aren't many bolt-ons, snap-ons or strap ons you're gonna slap on a 5.4L (Aside from a supercharger) that's gonna cut 2-3 seconds off the F-150's 0-60 time.
If it were that easy to make extra (difference-making) power, Ford would do it, stock (ie- K&N Airfilters and dual exhaust). I don't argue it gives us more HP, but a set of Flowmasters and a Filter charger won't get you down into the 6's from damn-near 9 seconds.
The last track time I saw for the 04 - 07 Buck-Fifty was in the 8.4 - 9.3 neighborhood, which ain't bad. Hell, my 4.6L is slower than that, (So slow, it's rare for a magazine to even test a 4.6L) but still, whether I'm 15 lengths back, or 10 back in a 5.4L, I'd still lose a race against a new or old V-8 Tundra. So what?
The only time it'll really matter is if I have to get out of Dallas before a meteor/asteroid hits it, and I'm surrounded by Tundras, Rams, Silverado's and Titans jockeying for position...
Give credit where it's due guys... Is that so hard to do?
For some, I guess it is...
We don't have the best truck on the road anymore guys...
Live with it...
We've been living with Super Duties, GM-25-3500's, and Dodge 25-3500's, and those are all better "trucks" that the F-150... What's one more?

Well I didn't buy my truck for it to be the fastest truck while towing aload. I bought it because it a truck, not a wimpy little toyota or nissan, but a Ford truck. I will agree that ford is starting to slack in certain areas and they need to start listening to customers in what they want. I really hope that they start getting there stuff together. Like I said I could care less if my truck can go 0-60 faster then the other truck. I didn't buy a race truck, I bought a regular drive everyday truck. I really don't care how fast it is.

The 2007 Silverado used in that "test" has a 6.0L.

If we're interested in 0-60 and such why didn't they put in a Dodge SRT-10? For those who don't know this is a 10 cylinder, 500 horsepower truck that you can buy at any local Dodge dealership. It'll out 0-60 anything Toyota sells. Are they still making the Ford Lightening? I'm sure it would fare pretty well too.
Another thing to consider... This is the biggest, baddest truck Toyota sells. I wonder what would happen if they put it up against the American heavy duty trucks? You know as well as I do. The Japanese have been trying for years to oust the American trucks. I live here in Texas where trucks are tools and make a man his living. I'll tell you that regardless of what Toyota tries that they will not outsell the American trucks.
Also if you live in small town America, don't expect to go to town and get a part or a warranty repair on your Toyota. You'll have to make the trip to the big city and hope they can get it done that day or you're going to be staying in a motel overnight.
You can probably get away with driving a Toyta in the big cities here in Texas but I kid you not... Drive a Toyota out in the ranch and farm areas here in Texas and they will flat out laugh at you. I'll give Toyota credit though, at least they're trying.
