Why are you comparing the XLT at invoice price??? then 2 years later to what its worth. WHO PAYS STICKER PRICE on an F-150?? only idiots or those with plenty of money. You WILL pay near sticker price for a yota. So if you paid 28,000 for a XLT and to find out its only worth 14 two years later...then im sorry your such a fool.
Go find a fully loaded lariat on ANY dealer thats like mine and let me see if you can buy them for 20,000. Not going to happen.
This is retarded. If you praise the tundra so much..then go flippin pay sticker price for one, speed away from the stop light cuz the kids on the short bus are laughing at how ugly it is and find a different forum.
Glad jbporter understand the buy for less sell for less.

Not only that, but having traded cars, and broke leases, no dealer (unless they're desperate) will EVER give you KBB value for your vehicle.
If you rated yourself Excellent, that's fooling yourself even more. Punch in the numbers at "Fair" and maybe that will be closer. Think about it guys. I just bought a NEW 2006 F-150 SUPERCREW for $21,000. What dumbass would pay $19,900 for one that's 2 years old, when they can suck up the extra $20.00 in car note, and get a 2007?
Further, if your vehicle is highly customized, believe it or not, you actually get even less for your vehicle than you would if it was stock. Reason being, if you lift it, lower it, rim it, scoops, blowers, crazy grills, etc.. while it may look good to you, it will alienate some buyers. This was true in 1991, and it was true in 2006 when Carmax told me they'd give me an extra $1,000 if I took my rims OFF
. Why? Because having an accessorized Expy looked goo to me, but they felt they would lose potential buyers because of it. Go figure, when they are sittign on dealer lots with 20, 22 & 24 inch wheels.
Aftermarket parts don't help your resale value.
Depreciation comes because of value lost against the MSRP. For the last 6 years, we have been able to rape the dealers, because they've had to bend over to move units. But, us older guys know that wasn't always the case... There wre times you'd do damn good to get $500 off the MSRP, let alone $14,000 (My personal best).
Our loss isn't as much now a days because of incentives, X-Plan, Z-Plan, Option 1, Option 2, etc... But, if we were still paying MSRP, the imports would be a far-far-far better investment (since cars are the 2nd largest investment most people will make).
Because of discounts, now imports are only far better with regard to resale, as opposed to far, far, far, far better. But, Full-size trucks and Full-Size SUV's (American) are the best American automobiles to purchase, if you are concerned about resale.
Buy anything else, and it won't be worth much after 5 years. Saldy, with the exception of the Altima, Nissan loses value faster than Honda and Toyota. The Altima, for a LONG time, was number one in retained resale value, recently replaced by the Accord.
PS: We could have gotten a LOADED, sunroof, leather, DVD player, etc Lariat, 5.4L, 4 x 2, last year, for $28,000.00. They were taking $10,000 off, and it was JANUARY, 2006, Not October, when the really big discounts come. But, instead of one loaded truck, we got two nicely equipped lower-end models. (XLT SuperCrew, and Fusion SE)

The Yota dealer gave me 13k for my 2005 F-150 with 43k miles on it and that was WITHOUT actually SEEING the truck.. just the Vin number and they said "ok I'll give ya 13k for it"...
my SR5 double cab with the 5.7L and tow pkg cost 30k

I've said it before.. I'll say it again. I'd love to have a new Tundra Regular cab/Short bed with the 5.7.... But there will be hardly any aftermarket for them... So why bother.
