Is Islam a terrorist religion?

As long as it's Muslims strapping bombs to themselves and killing innocent people, not Christians, Hindus, Buddists, or what have you, then there is going to be a perceived threat from those that practice the religion. It's easy for some people to dismiss this fact; and, pull out a Timothy Mcveigh, who so far is an anomoly, or point at the IRA, who kept their efforts focused locally and were not a global threat. The fact is, Muslims, not all Muslims by any means, The fact that these people are NOT being hunted down and exterminated, in countries that will cut your hand off for stealing and stone a woman to death for being sexually promiscuous, speaks volumes to me of the general Muslim acceptance of their behavior. What a person, or group of people, does speaks more truthfully about their nature than what they say.
I have to disagree with the following statement you made:
"but Muslims are Terrorists with global scope and intentions. They ARE the only ones that present this kind of threat."
If we judge a religion by the conduct of a fringe minority, then we could say "Christianity is all about child molesting & homosexuality"
Don't believe me? Every time you turn on a talk show, there is some altar boy (all growd up now) recounting the horrific experiences he had getting raped by the priests in his church.
Now I know and you know this is not true, but I'm just showing an example of how "generalizing" does not paint an accurate picture.
Some people prefer to generalize or stereotype because identifying an argument takes work, it requires effort, and ignorant people who don't know any better would just rather say "all black people steal" "Don't believe me, just look at the prisons"
This type of logic doesn’t take an iota of mental effort, is not backed up with facts, and is just down right ignorant hate mongering because these people are too stupid to know any better.
The sad part is when these people have kids and further populate the earth with their stupid kids. The cycle never has a chance to stop.
Getting back on topic and to your question.
Islam is a peaceful religion. The name "Islam" comes from the Arabic root word "salama" which means peace.
The only way to determine what Islam says about terror is to examine its belief systems. Look at its source, the Qur'an, and see what it has to say.
I have a Qur'an (Arabic to English translation) and I have read much of it.
Not all of it, but then I haven’t read the entire bible either.
Every time some wacko blows himself up in the name of Allah, this guy doesn’t represent the Muslim religion, he is not the voice of the whole.
The problem is we all need someone to blame, and we need someone to blame now, not tomorrow or next week, but right now.
The general public has the IQ of a bag of nails, and so Islam becomes a convenient scapegoat.
A Quote from the Qur'an:
"...If anyone killed a person not in retaliation for murder or to spread mischief in the land, it would be as if he killed the whole of mankind. And (likewise) if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the whole of mankind"
(Surah Al-Maaida 5:32)"
This means these extreme behaviors such as hijacking, planting bombs, suicide bombers are all forbidden in Islam.
Personally, I think the sooner Theism dies, the sooner we will all be better off, and then we can focus as a collective on what really matters.
We are still in the dark ages.

I disagree with that stement as well. The way I wrote it left it open to misinterpretation. It should have been ... but Muslim Terrorists have global scope and intentions.
Not all Muslims are terrorists, only a fool would assume this. Most are not. Too many, however, do have sympathy for the terrorist extremist's causes and minimize the evil of their means. A large number of Muslims feel oppressed by the west, and understandably so, considering some of the ignorance involved, on both sides, about the others culture. I started this thread because, at the time, there was a disturbing poll that suggested that there are more Muslims that support the terrorists than anyone would have guessed. I still don't know what to think about that and it still disturbs me. I understand the general good intentions of Islam; but, question the interpretation of the followers of the religion. Christianity has had it's dark moments as well. The Crusades were not a one sided attack against Islam by Christianity. There was wrong wrapped up in right on both sides of that. It seems that this is not taught. It certainly wasn't to me. Until I took it upon myself to research the matter a bit, I blamed the Catholic church for the whole thing and had the Muslims firmly placed as victims of christian fanaticism. That's just not the case. Power and Wealth were a great deal larger players in the conflict.
Here's a short history and Primer on Islam that I found some time ago. I think it puts forth a fair image of Muslims as they strive to be. Most Muslims live a life of true devotion to God that Christians, in general, do not.
Don't give up before reading the entire PDF file as it is meant to be taken as a whole and not piecemeal. It's not very long.

That's a great find btw; I saved it to my HD.
I knew you did not believe that statement, if anything I thought you might be playing devil's advocate.
One of the biggest problems I have with Islam is that the Qur'an is "set in stone".
Because they have no clergy, or a "Pope", there is no way for Muslims to change and progress with the times.
The serious academic followers of Islam are well aware of this, and many of them know it poses a problem.
Muhammad wrote the Qur'an in what, the 600's?
The world has changed beyond measure in the last 1,400 years.
Our way of thinking, our knowledge, values, ethics, ideas, everything is different now.
When the Qur'an was written, it didn’t take into account for technological change, and this is a serious problem.
Look at marriage as an example...
We know that Islam says it's ok for a Muslim man to have 4 wives, providing he can care for them, and treat them all equally.
We also know this was done so the wealthier people could spread Islam faster and help propagate their religion at an accelerated pace.
(It still continues today)
Women were not considered to be "real equals" back then, and were merely there to have children and be the good little housewife.
Fast forward to now, and because we have advanced in so many ways, it's easy to see how the old way of thinking was wrong.
Yet the Qur'an does not allow for these changes to be corrected.
Seems to me everything was cool until Muhammad died, and that's when all the BS started, 1400 years ago. All the tribes got into a big fight over who was supposed take over for Muhammed, and fast forward to today, and nothing has changed.
If my memory is correct, when Muhammad was on his death bed, everyone was waiting with baited breath for him to announce his successor, but he died before he could get the words out.
One tribe was related to Muhammad by blood, the other wasn’t, so the in-fighting started, and to this day the Sunni and the Shia are killing themselves over it.
What I've seen from my many travels to the Arabian Gulf, the Sunni comprise a huge percent of Muslims (85% or something like that), the Shia make up the rest, and most of the *****-disturbing come from the shia.
The Sunni need to mop the floor with the pesky Shia, and then the craziness will stop.

I spent some fifteen years in Saudi Arabia and never saw anything that would lead me to believe Islam is a terrorist religion. Don't let the actions of some speak for all. Also, make sure you have a more thorough understanding of something before jumping to any conclusions

In addition, anyone bombs himself among innocent people or innocent people, this is Suicide. And Islam has forbidden that.
So all the bombers are not performing Islam.

Frank these are some Quotes from Quran that you posted, here are they complete Aiahs.
[121] Nor could they spend anything (for the Cause) - small or great - nor cut across a valley, but the deed is inscribed to their credit; that Allah may requite their deed with the best (possible reward). Sura 9
please, what is the number of this Aiah? ( i mean the 2nd Quote)
[190] Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors. [191] And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith. Sura 2
[51] O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors; they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust. Sura 5
Sometimes you should read the before and after Aiahs to understand it right.
I will update you with the story or the interpretation of each Quote.

I worked in the Middle East and Far East quite a bit and met many Muslims who showed me nothing but friendship and kindness.
They are just regular people like you and me.
To judge an the entire Muslim group by the actions of a few terrorists is plainly wrong.
For them to judge us by the actions of a few Christians is wrong too.
