Trade My F150 for a F250?

I am thinking about trading my 02 F150 Lariat for a 07 F250 XLT.

F150 has 131000 miles
F250 has 159000 miles

F150 high payment
F250 payment almost cut in half.

F150 payed off next year
F250 four more years

F150 kind of sluggish pulling camper
F250 what camper?

Can anyone give me a little help ether way? Is this alot of miles for this truck? Its was a salesmens truck and was kept in great condition. I just need something with power to pull my new camper where I want to go.

what engines do they have? if they F-250 is a gasser, i would stay away, if its diesel, to me thats doable, as long as you have a car or something as a grocery-getter

do you have kids/pets? what do you normally do with your truck, (ie: tow or just drive?)

If the F250 is a 5.4, it's going to be sluggish. If it's a V-10, excellent engine but awful gas mileage. If it's a diesel, the 6.0 is a high maintenance engine.

The F250 has the 5.4
I do have kids and pets thats the main reason for the 4door. I also pull my camper about every weekend and we are planning a trip out west next year with the kids and camper. I do have another car for cruzing around , but I would buy this truck to drive it not leave it in my driveway.
The thing I like best about this deal is the lower payments. But I am a little worried about the miles. Should I be?

I can't say it loud enough - a crew cab F-250 with a 5.4 is a DOG. It is not a suitable tow vehicle, it's a work truck. It gets lousy gas mileage too.

I just traded my 2006 5.4L F150 for a new 2010 F350 6.4L diesel and couldn't be happier. They're offering great deals on the 2010s to make room for the new model. I've never had a diesel so I was a little wary but I'm getting the same fuel mileage as my F150 but with a lot more power. I have a truck camper which was too heavy for the F150 and not safe to drive. Now, I don't even notice the camper on the back. Maintenance sounds a lot more complicated on the diesel but I haven't had to deal with that yet. My biggest complaint, no hood liner on the F350 which would help quiet the engine. Not that it's very noisy but every little bit helps. I bought an aftermarket liner and installed it myself instead.

The 6.4L in the newer diesels are a completely different engine from the old 6.0L and much more reliable.

Thanks for all the input. I might hold out and wait for something better to come along. A diesel is out of the question, they go for huge money around here or they are worked over big time. Thanks everyone.

Diesels go for huge money everywhere. It's an $8k option on the new trucks!

I know they cost more and they are cool and powerful and tough, but I am on a budget and cant see spending that kind of money right now. The diesel would be my present for when my last kid is out of the house.
My dad said "buy a Chevy!!"
I am still laughing.

If a diesel is too expensive then buy a V-10 motor. If you think your 5.4 F-150 is slow, wait til you drive a truck with the same motor that weighs 1500lbs more.

I just looked up the specs on both trucks...I am going to order a F250 badge and put it on my truck. They are just about the same truck!? 5 years newer but still the same!! Thanks all.
