Question 08 Superduty rebates

Anyone hear about the next round of rebates? Right now in NY they are $3000 + 1000 for dplan customers. Anyone think they will go up around christmas/the first of the year??

I think you'll see them touch $4,500 to $6,000 by early next year. We saw the F-150 rebates do the same the 1st of this year, and I don't think it will be much different.

The biggest caveat would be to not let the good one get away hoping for a better catch. As the rebates go up, your selection goes down, so choose when to buy wisely. It may be better to get what you want at $1,000 less rebate, then have to settle for color or trim you don't want, or forced to wait another year.

Not sure what you guys are seeing on your lots where you are but I know the owner of a Dealership here in DFW and he told me they are sold out and most are sold before they are even on his lot.

He went on to tell me they are poaching inventory from other dealers in other states as the lead time on new builds is 3 months right now.

Not sure why poeple think they aren't selling on other forums, I see ton of them on the road every day. And I am JEALOUS

We've got a pretty good inventory built up right now, but it's not from Ford. We've dealer traded for all but 3 of ours, and right now, we have 12. Looks like here we have a pretty good mix of what people want, as we are selling one from inventory at least once a week. Sales are slow, but there is something strange about the new '08 Super Duty. We sell a lot of them, but I'm willing to bet that the ratio of XLT or higher trim levels compared to XL work/base trim is around 13 or 14 to 1. Heck, even a local glass company came in and ordered 2 cab and chassis trucks that were Lariat Super Crews. They traded in 2002's XL's. All I can figure out is that Ford really hit a homerun with the interior. Really strange though, those XL's just sit there and those King Ranch's move like there's no tomorrow

The last order I took for a customer took 5 weeks, but that was in Sep.

I see a lot here in NY on the road. Even the Tamarack truck ( the people that cut the trees by the powerlines and almost cause traffic accidents EVERYDAY) have the new f550/f650 trucks with XLT trim. Its really odd that the XLs dont sell but I notice that too. Our dealership has like 7 08 SDs, but only 3 stickshift which is what I am waiting to purchase coem Jan 1 when my dad gets his 2 Dplan purchases... and the rebates willl prolly be like 5500 so Im looking at saving close to 10,000 off the sticker or so like I did with my 38,000 F150. This past March there was $9500+ in rebates on 06 F250 SD, thats what my mom bought, an 06 f250 sd FX4 OffRoad Sport and saved like 15,000 off the sticker...it was ridiculuous. I can only hope that I could see CLOSE to $9500 in rebates on the 08's...its possible, but its not likely. BTW, anyone have a 5.4L 08 SD with a stick? What kind of MPG do you get? I know Ill duffer a bit from the 17/20 I currently get in my f150...

Do yourself a favor...and don't buy the 5.4L in the Super Duty. At least buy the V10...if you can't afford the $7000 premium they charge for the big dog daddy!

It really makes a person wonder why they offer the 5.4 in the SD.

Amen! The 5.4L has ample power to get the truck around...empty. As soon as you fill up the bed or connect a trailer, it's a dog. If you want a 5.4L engine, buy an F150. If you want good gas mileage, buy a Focus.

Exclamation

Well my 5.4L F150 gets good MPG and has plenty of power, so I am already getting the best of both worlds. If only those retards at ford would make an F150 4x4 stick...... and if I didnt want a plow...lol

Being a stick will give a bit of an edge for power, even in the 5.4L. I test drove one and it had a good amount, much more than its automatic counterpart.

Ok then let me ask... What kind of mpg does everyone get in the 2008 f250 and/or f350?
-5.4L V8?
-V10?
-7.4L Diesel?

Im not even interested in the damn diesel or the $80 oil change for a daily driver... Diesel is WAY more expensive ANY way you spin it.

No such engine as a 7.4, there is a 7.3 but that was ended in 03, then the 6.0 and now the 6.4 PSD.

If it matters, I get an average of 16.5 per tank with my 6.0 granted the truck weights 7700 lbs and can pull a house down, I am not complaining.

BTW, my oil change is 4 gallons, 15 qts, costs me 52.00 for Rotella.

My mistake, I meant to put 6.4L PSD, not 7.4L, it was simply a typo... PLUS the fact that I specified 2008 250/350 would give a hint that I meant the current PSD...thanks for pointing that out though. Dielsel oil changes at the dealership cost around $80 here, and with employee discount my dad gets it'd be around $60 for ford oil/filter products cahnged by them, what the hell is rotella? Also, I dont have the time to do it myself, I used to do that, but with my new job I simply dont have the time.

Regardless, a diesel is not the way to go for someone whos not going to use it for pulling, period. The 5.4 or V10 will do just fine for me, the 5.4L my dad has in his demo 08 250 s-cab long bed says its getting 15mpg all the time, so based on the comment about the v10 getting 11 I suppose Ill go with the 5.4L. The only thing I tow is a small trailer for wood and I fill the bed with wood and misc things like my 3-wheeler Empty and stick shift it the 08 250 seemed to have enough power for an everyday driver, and enough to pull/haul the little I do every once in a while. PLUS the dealership my dad works for has a nice XLT 5.4L stick on the lot they want rid of, that means 4000 off the sticker for D-plan roughly plus rebates plus they'll gimmie a little of the hold back for taking the truck on the lot. Sounds good to me! The first 2 new trucks I bought they had to dealer trade for...lol they'll actually be happy this time.

Seperate note: My f150 5.4L 300hp gets BETTER mpg than my 4.0L v6 26hp (lol) stickshift Ranger..... thats a good one!

Anyone else have a 5.4L or v10 in a 08 250/350 SD ? What do you get for MPG??

thanks!

roger
