Looks fantastic John! Anxiously awaiting the sound bite. So it is really that much better than the Roush Offroad muffler for the '04/'08?

Once your gig is up and running you can count on me for exhaust work for sure. My OE Y pipe is beginning to look rough, but I am hoping to move onto another truck verses fixing up this one. The exhaust manifold however will definitely need repaired though.

Thanks Darren! Eventually that would be fun to do on your truck!

I'm going to try and get a video tomorrow after I finish detailing her. There is no comparison to the Roush off road. Another member years ago commented on all the systems he tried and said the Roush was not really loud - just aggressive. I completely agree with that. It was decently loud with the magnaflow cats, but didn't have the volume I wanted. This gets really loud at 2k plus rpm. I'm amazed at the range of volume it has. It has a nice start up, low thump at idle and sweet purr at cruise. I can't express enough how satisfied I am. It is exactly the sound I wanted. The only thing I wish I had is the 6 speed trans as it has the orgasmic 3-1 kickdown when coming to a stop.

I was reading through this on my lunch break and was like "why does this truck look so familiar..."

Then it kind of clicked, I remember you from school haha, my name is Mike. I was in a Ranger and then a Powerstroke back then. Finally pulled the trigger on a F150 and can do more than just lurk on forums lol.

Exhaust looks awesome!!! I have a soft spot for Lightning style side exits.

Wow, that's hilarious lol! Hope all is well with you man. I appreciate the kind words, it sounds awesome. I just realized it was you that was talking about the borla atak in another thread. Can't go wrong with that!

Yeah, I love it. I installed it back in June. I'm sure my neighbors love me, lol.

Took me forever to get into a F150, but it was worth the wait. Best part is getting to learn how to do all sorts of stuff and just tinkering with it! I've learned more in the past 8 months of owning it than I have in like 8 total years of having my license lol. Great sense of pride being able to do all this stuff! Even more so with the new exhaust you have, that's such a big part of a modded truck so that's awesome that you were able to see your project through.

That's good you were finally able to get into one. I've had some headaches with mine due to people screwing suspension stuff up, so I forced myself to learn. I'm no master tech, but it's nice to be able to learn how to do some of the work. Now she's gets to be tucked away out of bad weather

Alright so I shot a cellphone video of a couple revs and some in cab. I'm going to pick up a GoPro this summer so I'll get some good quality vids and edit them. Just wanted to give a taste for now.

Dude I'm literally a few weeks from doing this myself! Dynomax SuperMAXX longtubes with catted mid pipes, but I've contemplated deleting the Y and running an X. I was going to go back to Magnapacks. I used to run 4 x 14s, this time I was going to an 18. But lately I'm hearing a lot of good on the Borlas. Thinking either pro xs or xr 1. What was the shop "across the border" that does mandrel bends? Last time I had my exhaust done I went to Southern NH Undercar in Hampstead. Think the guys name is Dan, and he's THE exhaust guy in these parts. I'm just not sure if he does mandrel bending

Sorry I missed your post, Ryan. The shop is Jim's custom exhaust in Rhode island. I never did use him as I did it myself but he appears to do very good work. You will pay for it as expected though.

Well since about 5+ years of running the Borla Stinger 40842S... it's time for a change. The drone has just become unbearable. Being down south in NC now, I drive the truck more. It drones so bad on the high way as the muffler has clearly gotten louder. I went 4 hours to camp in SC and it was a miserable drive listening to it drone. I wanted to just get out of the truck. Can't deal with it any longer.

I have a 14" Borla Pro XS on the way. I made the system modular with clamps on the muffler, so just will be a little trim on the intermediate pipe and pop the new Pro XS in. Should sound just as nice, just quieter.

This coming year I plan to replicate my exhaust out of 304SS and make it connect with V Band clamps. Will be another nice welding project for sure.

My 2007 Mustang GT has the GT500KR exhaust and it is loud when you hop on it, but near silent at cruise. Just more my style these days.

Mine was already done when I bought it in '09, not Borla, but was Flow Master-ed by a local shop, used alumanized steel welded.

It was nice enough at first, but within months, I'd had enough ... and added a 28" long resonating device ahead of the FM in the form of a Cherrybomb straight through glasspack, it mellowed it out. In '15 I found a rust hole in the FM, and the pipes were not pretty, so I installed a 3" S-in, 2.5" D-out system which likely was same as FM American Thunder system but at a cheaper price (under or near $470 as I recall), short 14" chambered "muffler" (LOL) but it grew old in like the first drive, the drone was really obnoxious ... so I slipped a 3" ID SS Cherrybomb 28" long glasspack ($62) ahead of it. It helped, but adding some 15 pounds of weight (made from a pair of CV exhaust damper weights) strapped to the pipe between the OEM Y and front of the Cherrybomb really killed the drone. The extra wrap of SS was just a piece I had and used to keep any staining from the steel clamps away from pipe, it was not really needed but it snugged up the fit of my weight frame so there is that.

Liked the video clip. I was looking at the same for our '08 GT, but in the end I just cut the 3" tips off and replaced with 4" OD rolled edge SS slant ended tips. Changed tone just a hair in car, we like it. The Mustang change was done mostly for the look, those OEM 3" OD single wall tips just looked puny in the cutouts.

The weight is an interesting topic I have researched a bunch as well. It definitely can work in a lot of cases from everything I have read. The "issue" with my set-up is just the sheer loudness now. True exhaust drone really needs a Helmholtz resonator/J pipe or just a straight up muffler swap to solve the issue.

I just rewatched my exhaust video above from 2016. The exhaust is WAY louder now. It's hard to believe how much louder it has gotten. It is seriously louder than the Roush exhausts on the 5.0 trucks (multiple family members own them so I know the loudness).

The 14" Borla Pro XS arrives today. Looking forward to installing it tonight.

The GT500KR exhaust is amazing. No drone, but loud when you jump on it. Very unique as you don't see it on too many cars in person. I would love it to be a hint louder, but for now it is very close to perfection. Way down the road, I may do Shorty headers strictly for a slight increase in volume and nice look under the hood. No Longtubes or cat work will be going on that car.

Love the color of your mustang btw tbear. It's funny, people crap all over the 3V mustangs as being "slow" Maybe I'm just an old fart at 29 y/o...but I find it plenty peppy. Went for a nice drive last night and just enjoy the hell out of the car.

The long glasspack toned noise down, mellowed it, the weight took care of certain frequency droning.

When I built my house, I had a buddy comment on my nails, I laughed, told him I never use "just" two 16s where four will fit ... I also tend to double nut some things as a locking method. I didn't want two pipes with concrete sealed in them bouncing out from under my truck.

Age will do that to you too.

I'll be checking for updates. If you find a drone, try just clamping some weight firmly to the pipe there under your cab ... just for kicks. Ford had a weight welded to my truck's OEM pipe, the ones on CVs are bolted on at junction behind cats at H-pipe, I don't recall weights on the Mustang.

I don't think slow describes them, "they" just jealous because our 3valve sounds better than thier 5.0. I know the "bar" has changed some since the '60s, but an out the door car on street tires that'll run 13s is not slow. 29? I was 29 once ... in 1983 I think.

The 3V does sound amazing!

So 14" Pro XS is in and wowee what a difference! Sounds nearly identical to my tiny round body borla stinger muffler but a bit quieter outside and WAY less drone. Even under load.

I ordered two of the Crown Vic exhaust weights to see if I could get rid of the last bit of resonance. It's much improved but if I can nearly remove it while I'm the highway, then I'm all for it.

Very very pleased so far. Did a 35-40 miles drive all different scenarios and I am very happy with the result at this point.
