Tailgatecamera.com anyboyd heard of them?

Was looking for an addition to my truck to aid in hooking up my boat. As well as backing up aid.

Came across this on the interweb and seems like a great price at 97 bucks. Anybody heard of them or purchased from them before?

http://tailgatecamera.com/products/f...back-up-camera

I was going to hook it up to my Edge CTS or get a new head unit

This actually looks pretty cool. Fairly OEM looking. I'd be curious to hear if anyone has any experience with these.

Another question that somebody might be able to answer

How do you get the wire from the tailgate to the truck .... if you want to remove the tailgate off the truck how would you go about doing that. Where do you run through the tailgate to get to the truck?

I just ordered it up .... for $97 bucks I need to try it

Somebody on the "other" f150 forum said they ordered it and said it was pretty good other than it weighing less than the OEM Ford Tailgate Handle. That's fine if it holds up what the hell

So it came in yesterday and I must say I am very very impressed.

Free two day shipping and the build quality and OEM look is great!

I hooked it up to my Edge CTS and the picture was phenomenal and will do everything that I need it to do. I'm just waiting for the snow and salt to get off the road before I install it so I don't have to dig around in the salt covered under body on my truck.

Here is a picture of it:

Damn, at $97 I might be interested too. I've got an aftermarket touchscreen HU, so I'm good there. I JUST PTM'd my tailgate handle though . . .

I hook up all to often to be hopping out and checking all the time

Head units are pretty cheap believe it or not ... just a simple one to replace the stock one.

They also have the mirrors that turn on when you go in reverse

I never tow anything at all now that the boat is sold, but my double 5% tint is so damn dark that I can't see anything at night, so I'm always "that guy" that has to reverse with the windows down and then hang out with my door open because I'm paranoid with not backing up too far and hitting either my truck or whatever car is behind me.

I had no idea I could get one of these for so cheap and have it still look good. What are you going to do to run the wire from the tailgate to the Edge? I think it should plug right into my HU.

I partially installed the camera this weekend.

Here is the back of the tailgate with the access cover exposed ... all you need to do it remove those two nuts and the handle pops out

It came with a washer type thing but I did not install it because it did not line up, not to mention the stock one did not have that. Here it is installed ... looks great and fits great you would never know it was not OEM.

Now getting it through the tailgate and out the bottom hole was a bit of a challenge and I needed to take off the tailgate to do this step correctly. Not really a huge deal on such an easy tailgate to take off. I also decided to loom the whole wire because there might be some sharp edges especially at the entrance holes.

I went trough a small drain hole on the bottom that was near the only opening on the passenger side bottom of the bed.

I also hooked up and wired it out of the cab though the main wire harness under the drivers carpet. I am waiting to run it because I think the wire will be a little shorter than I need and am waiting for my buddies lift so I can cross over the bed instead of running right down the rail to save some length.

Okay so before anybody orders I just finished up installing the camera.

IT DOES NOT SHOW YOUR BUMPER OR A HITCH

I just called them up (and left a message) but I found an "adjustable" tailgate camera for $50 bucks more and they say that one shows the bumper. Pretty ridiculous that this one does not show it. Oh well it's still worth it for 150 ... Just hoping that they accept the return on this one so I can but the other one

Here is a picture of it working .... like I said it's a great quality image and great camera it's just angled wrong

Dang, that looks pretty good! Is the wire special or is there a reason why you can't just splice more wire into it to extend it if needed? I really think I'm gonna get one of these in the next few months, thanks for being the guinea pig, Chris!

I hope they'll take that one back.

That does look quite decent. My truck came equipped for nav but I am unsure of the ease of expecting that the handle and nav radio would hook me up right.
