1- To Mike: I'm glad I was able to talk to you about updating your Gryphon, and I gave you some good advice about waiting until after the first of the year so that we won't just be holding onto your programmer when I KNOW that there are so many people ahead of you. We look forward to working with you if you do decide to send it in for upgrading and custom tuning.

2- We used to have an answering machine. We switched to an auto attendant because people would leave messages, and we weren't able to get back to them quickly. We decided that calling and not being able to leave a message (but still hearing the auto attendant so it's not just ringing and ringing) is far less rude than accepting a message and never returning it.
REPLY-my buisness line after hours rings my cell phone-ALL calls are returned

3- Our business traffic is up 400% of what is was this time last year, but there are still only two of us in the office. Even if we had someone come in to answer phones, we would still have to find time to train them about our products and the basic mechanics of diesels and gassers. I've been working with Bill for two years now, and I can answer 99% of the gasser questions and about 60% of the diesel questions. If I can't answer every question after two years of doing this, how can I train someone else while still doing my regular job each day? Could they take messages? Sure. But that would be no different than having an answering machine and having to return all of those calls. On August 7, I posted an open letter to all of our customers -- past, present, and future -- to explain who we are and what we do. It also explains that there may be a longer wait if you purchase something from us vs. another company (and we're always happy to recommend other companies!) and why that is. We've always been straightforward with everyone so that they know what to expect from us.
REPLY-when a company grows- so must staff- or buisiness will suffer.period!
4- There are only two ways at this juncture that we could slow things down. One, we could take my sister's advice and raise our prices and simply sell less yet make a larger profit. We really like the fact that our prices are as low as they are, which make our products attainable for most. We make very little on each sale; therefore, we have to sell more to be able to pay our bills. Yes, this means many more hours of work for the both of us, but it's something we're willing to do. Two, we could limit the number of units we sell each month to, say, 25 programmers and 25 chips. When we reach the limit, customers would have to wait for the next month. This isn't feasible because we'd still have to raise our prices if we were only selling that quantity and also... it's ludicrous.
REPLY-WHEN YOU CAN HAVE SALES AND DISCOUNTS ON PRODUCTS- MARGIN OF MARKUP WAS TOO HIGH TO BEGIN WITH,

5- Bill and I discuss the future of PHP all the time, and there are some plans for expansion. As it was pointed out, however... training someone to do what Bill does is just not a possibility at this point. That, and we still haven't figured out how to get 20 years of knowledge into someone else's brain in a timely manner. Our son Wil is 10. I told Billy the other day that when he's 12, it's time to start training him.

6- Finally, to everyone else who took the time to post in this thread, I just want to say thank you. There were so many positive things mentioned, and it's nice to know that most people really do understand us, our business, and our ethics.

Happy holidays!

Bill has been active on the forum over at PHP for the last 2 days

Patience is a virtue; especially for the quality of product they turn out and the lengths they go to take care of customers before and after the sale.

Again..an edge is a gryphon without the ability for custom tunes. An edge new is 399.00...a gryphon new is 399.00.With and edge you get 3 canned tunes..meaning prewritten tunes for a genaric vehicle. With the grypgon you get the SAME 3 tunes to start with but then you can replace the canned tunes with tunes designed for your vehicle modifications.Like cold air intake, dual exhaust, high flow injectors etc..etc..
If you truck is stock and your gonna keep it that way then the canned tunes are fine since you can modify them a bit for things like tire size ,shift points and other minor mods.
But ..if the gryphon is the same cost you might want to consider future mods.
Of course you can send the edge to php later on and have it unlocked making it a gryphon..but its an additional charge.

Hey hows this for a comparison..
The edge and gryphon are both good looking blue eyed blondes. Both have bodacious tata's,flowing blond hair, long legs... etc..etc.
Both are available for the same price..a dinner and small talk.
But bill from PHP has plied the one blond with alcohol and sweet talk..lots of alcohol.
Now both started out equal..and if ALL your gonna do is talk then both with do the job.But IF you wanted to go a bit futher and have a wild ride which one do you think is gonna be more up to the job.
Hope this clears it up

Let's face it... if you meant it in a way that you thought would be helpful, you would have just e-mailed me. This has been going on for more than two years, so your latest post is no surprise.

If you take a minute to look at our sale, you will see that orders over $300 are discounted by $30, which is the price of a custom calibration. Notice that the programmers are not on sale; what we are giving away is Bill's time. In my 40 years of life, I have yet to see any professional -- be it a lawyer, plumber, doctor, OR an any other engineer -- give away his time, but Bill frequently does it for our customers.

You may have also noticed that this sale was originally supposed to end on November 22. However, many people wanted to order at the sale price but couldn't get ahold of us since I had pneumonia and Bill was running the office by himself during most of November. We extended the sale so that people who wanted to order at the sale price could do so. We extended the sale because it was the right thing to do.

Could we continue to give these discounts and stay in business? Not likely. That's why we generally only have sales from time to time.

We don't have a big house, and our newest car is almost five years old. We are not in this business to get rich; we just want to be able to pay our bills and have fun doing it. Luckily, our customers already know that.

You have a wonderful holiday, too, ocp.

Haha!
LOL's
Never heard it like that before!
Edge doesn't equal gryphon.
Yes they are the same hardware but the gryphon's canned tunes are tweeked over the edge canned tunes because PHP doesn't have to meet CARB standards like edge does.
And yes, the gryphon can have custom tunes.

Yes, there ARE other ways, even though you said you did talk to them by phone.

You could send them a FAX.

You could join their forum and send a PM.

You could post on their forum.

You could send a regular letter through the US Postal service.

You could drive up to their door and knock.

Actually, there seems to be lots of ways to get in touch with them. But, the demand on their services is high. You have to fit in to that demand.

- Jack

I give Correy a little bit of credit for putting family before business during Christmas. As some of you may know we do custom embroidery on the headrests of Ford trucks as well as others and I cant get my wife to shut the damn computer off and enjoy the holidays...I understand about business but you have to make time for family too.I'm sure PHP will be back to normal after the Holidays are over.I know i have a few things to talk to them about concerning a custom tune but the world wont end if I wait a week.
