Thanks Lost Pup, I am going to attempt this in a few minutes.

rphart,
The only thing I know to tell you is to call Rob. If he says that it is a problem with your truck you might want to check:

1) The wires connected to the OBDII port. Maybe one of them has come loose from the connector

2) Fuses, I don't know if there is a specific fuse on our trucks dealing with the OBDII port or related electronics. My sister had a fuse go out on her car that kept the computer from connecting to anything plugged into the OBDII port.

These are just guesses and others who know more about these trucks may have better recommendations.

Has anyone else had problems with their Edge after getting it back from Rob?

I have waited as long as 30 minutes and still says wait for initialization. Started over from the beginning numerous times and same results. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks,

Is the truck programmed now or still stock ?

Custom tuning options?

Since I got my Edge back everything seems to be working great. I tried to do some custom tuning tonight but was confused by the options that aren't listed in the manual. I looked at Shift firmness and standard shifting before I backed out because I couldn't figure out what options to pick.

When I chose each of them it gave choices between 12, 24, and 36. What do these mean and which one would you recommend choosing?

Thanks for any help!

Does the Transmission Fluid Temp work yet? I am looking at getting one of these but would love to have that to replace my pilar gauge.

I didn't notice the transmission fluid temp when I was looking through the options earlier today. I think most of the testers have requested the transmission fluid temp, but Rob has been busy just trying to get the units to function correctly to worry too much about adding extra features.

Still stock. Like I said in my post, it has never finished the initialization procedure, never displayed anything other than "Please wait while Evolution initializes." This is the only thing it has ever done since I got it the first time or this time.

Do I need to do the Lightning software download and install, get the seed #, get a key from Edge Tech Support, and restore per the instructions you posted? Or do you think the unit is simply defective and software/firmware revisions will not help?

My first thought is to check the unit on another Truck to see if it starts up properly BUT the unit could be now setup as a stock writer as mine and others were adjusted by edge and returned to us.

I would call Edge Tsch Support to discuss the issue.

With some help from Rob I figured out what the options are. Instead of 12, 24, and 36, it is the 1-2 shift, the 2-3 shift, and the 3-4 shift so that you can change the firmness of each shift. I was just in a hurry last night when I looked at the options. I bumped each shift up 5 and the truck already feels like a different truck. I can't wait to get it really dialed in to the way I want it to be. This is a great product!

Now I just have to figure out how to keep the power going to the Evolution. It seems to not be getting power all the time even though all of the connections are good.

Edit: I also noticed today that my Intake Temperatures were around 10 degrees higher than ambient. I only have a K&N drop in filter in the stock air box with no other modifications. Could a dirty MAF be causing the computer to read high temperatures?

No way I would hook this to another truck with all of the problems some of the beta testers are having.

Do you feel tech support is a better contact point than Rob considering I have never got this to do anything at all?

Back when the testing started, I asked Rob about the trans temp. He indicated that the 97-03 PCM did not monitor that parameter. Not sure if they will eventually be able to pick it up from somewhere else.

Take a look at this: http://www.edgeproducts.com/pdf/FordF-150Evolution3.pdf

This is clearly an Evolution installed in a 97-03 F-150 showing TFT as a readout. Maybe when that was published they thought they could get the readout and in the end they couldn't.

What do you mean by the terminlogy stock writer? Was this something done to most of these beta units when we sent them back to Rob so that the "lost" stock tunes could be recovered?

Mine has never talked to the truck as far as I know and I did not lose the stock tunes. Rob asked me about the code before he sent mine back to me, and I told him I had not stored or lost the stock tunes and he said that made mine easier, and that he would simply do the updates they had discovered needed to be done and send it back to me.

Guess I need to get through to tech support. Two phone calls and two emails to Rob since 7-25-06 with no response as of this time.

i dont believe that the trucks are plumbed to read it via ecu or vacuum hose. my buddy had to do some work to get his analog gauge to work. the advertising TFT is probably a mistake

randy,
yup, the stockwriter was something used to recover programs for those of us (including me) who lost our stock programs.

if you have no stockwriter you should try to obtain/borrow another truck to see if it communicates. no programming will be sent to the truck if you just plug it in, in my logic at least (disclaimer, as much as id liek to be, im not perfect ). if you cant communicate wtih the other truck your programmer is jacked. if you can communicate with the other truck you may have some issues with your PCM, a reprogramming from ford might help

id keep calling tech support, rob has a ridiculous amount on his hands and despite my attempts to suggest cloning him i dont think his workload is diminishing any

i hope this helps
