Any advice on how to remove some of the swirling and hazing on the interior chrome shifter assembly? I fear that trying M105/205 in a small amount with a micro fiber would possibly induce more marring and not fully remove swirls. Chromed plastic is just very unforgiving.

Well its not dirt I am complaining of, its the marring and swirls. I know it is a little nicked and scratched, I don't expect it to be flawless I just want to find out if it is possible to get some of the swirls out. They show painfully whenever the sun beams inside.
Treat it like paint. Get a good rubbing compound and buff it out with a microfiber towel. I would try the widely available plastics polish.. i.believe its meguires. I'll do a quick search and update
That's right, Tko!
I completely forgot about that stuff, but my brother showed it to me after I put the shifter in place, and it does work very well. That, and a MF towel should set you up, Darren.

Thanks TKO and DSG. I have a bottle of Plast-X from 2008
, shows how often its used. I fully cleaned and protected my interior last night from the plastics to the leather ( Pinnacle sizzling shine leather care ). The last part to get will be that damned shifter swirling and it'll feel like a new '07! I'll let you guys know.

Well the Plast-X worked, made a noticeable difference. The haze, marring, and some spotting that wasn't removed before is gone. But the dings and scratches remain. If you can see the tapeline, the left was treated with plast-x twice. Right side untouched.

I tried using some scratch-x 2.0 I had laying in the detailing product pile but it didn't do anything. At least its cleaned up looking enough. If the next truck has one in better shape i'll just hit it with some collinite 845.

are you sure that piece is plastic?
if its chromed metal you can be a little bit more aggressive with it...
I know on the STA its chromed pot metal.....

Hmm, no i'm pretty sure its some of China's finest plastic. The shifter top is, but this main shifter plate feels like plastic.
