Overhead Console Temp Display Repair
Well, it was my turn today to do some damage with the soldering iron.
Had to do the circuit board for the wipers in dad's 97 Chevy, now it was time for the OHC that had been out for at least a month.
My resistors were not separated from the board, but the factory solder was corroded and I scratched some off, to boot. Four gobs of solder on both ends of both "510s" and the test back in the truck looks good.
Now, on to the spaghetti kit for the DRLs. I've had lousy resistor plugged in under the fender for a few years now...

Another satisfied customer, thanks Patman!
The overhead console in my 2003 F150 with moon-roof went out. It is the same problem Patman reported. His pictures look a bit different since I have a moon-roof. There was a hair line crack in one of the right resistor bottom solder point.
Here are my pictures. I hope someone find them useful.

THANKS Patman for the great how-to!

Dude, this was freakin' awesome. Excellent diagnostics and write up! When I took the console apart, one of the resistors had come completely lose from the board and fell on my gray carpet; took me 15 minutes to find that tiny thing, but I found it! At my age, I had to trade my reading glasses for a hobby visor with magnifying lenses on it just to see, but I followed your steps to the letter. As I was putting it back together I kept thinking, "There's no way this is going to work." But when I turned on the ignition, I'll be damned! 106 F N. Love it! Thank you!
Now...I swear my climate controls used to light up at night... How do I fix those?

Mine still has problems
First of all, thanks Patman for the writeup.
Mine quit working last summer, so I took it apart, and when I had it all stripped down, I plugged the board back in to the harness, and it worked. I reassembled everything, and re-installed it, and it worked for a minute, then quit again. I tweaked with the connector, and the board to no avail.
I didn't see any evidence of any of the ic's lifting up like the one shown in the photo.
What's my next move?
Thanks, Leo

F150 repair to overhead console
Hey Patman,
I w going thought all the directions and pics you provided (great by the way), only to find out the piece you were fixing mine was missing. Any idea where I could get another one either that little piece#510 or the whole thing ( computer part). I would rather not have to buy a whole new console. My deals hip told me $250.00 and I would rather do the work myself, I think I am a pretty handy girl.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
